The whole process took maybe 10 minutes, the lady who did the piercing was very professional, took appropriate care and caution when choosing where to pierce my ear, and moved quickly and carefully, which helped make it as painless as possible. Loved it! Everyone was so friendly and funny! Make you feel very welcomed and are very informative and patient. I got pierced by Paige and she was really chill and funny. She did an awesome job and was super fast and caring to where you wanted the type of piercing located. When paying, I may have just overlooked it, I didn't see an area where I was able to input a tip amount. Unfortunately, I am a very shy person and even shy to just ask questions and so I was too nervous to ask how we pay tips and I feel horrible for it! I have several tattoos, but haven't gotten a new one since moving to Indy. Everyone told me I had to go to Metamorphosis. And they were right! I had such a great experience from the first call to book an appointment throughout the appointment. The day before I was supposed to get my tattoo, I stopped in with a couple questions and Trevor was so helpful with them and walking me through the options. The shop was clean and had a great energy to it. Paige was my artist and she did a wonderful job. She spent so much time with me making sure she understood what I wanted and helped me decide the best placement and size. I'm a very anxious/indecisive person and she was so patient with me and took all the time I needed. The tattoo process was efficient and she was so careful to get it perfect. Wanted me to make a non-refundable deposit before I even got to meet an artist! So I have been in twice, both times to set up an appointment and neither time did anyone actually want to take the time to talk to me, but they sure wanted me to make a deposit! So I tell them, "this is what I want, can I talk to someone about getting this tattoo? What artist would be the best for this kind of tattoo?" they say " Okay, our first appointment is in three weeks, Monday at 3pm and it's a $75 deposit." And I am literally standing there looking at them like, "dude are you joking? I AM ABOUT TO PUT SOMETHING PERMANENT ON MY BODY, I HAVE THE RIGHT TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT IT FIRST!" I'm from Cali - the land of body art - so maybe I just am better versed on what the should and should nots of tattoo appointment making should be but, when a new client comes in to ask about the different artists capabilities and you don't even give me the time of day, I am not too confident in anyone else's capabilities. Seriously though, the tattoo parlors (I have used a few) in Cali all acted the same way, you actually got to speak to the artist FIRST! This isn't like a dental appointment where everyone has the same abilities. I am not giving you a deposit to talk to someone about my tat later! What if they are terrible? What if I don't like them? I'm certainly not going to ruin Metamorphosis' great review run. I grew up in Indy and now live in DC, but spending the long weekend home and having been bored with my nose piercing for a while, I thought I'd pop into Metamorphosis to see if I could afford changing out my piercing better here in Indy than in the all-too-expensive nation's capital. Not only are the piercings significantly cheaper and changing it out doesn't cost anything (unlike in DC) I got the best customer service I could possibly hope for. I wish I remembered his name but a tall gentleman with a ponytail and glasses helped me out and was so genuinely nice and so helpful, I can't say nice enough things about him. I'm very indecisive and nobody got impatient with me while I tried to decide on a stud. Finally, everything was totally sanitary and super-clean, and believe me I'd know if it wasn't because it would set off my OCD. No more over-priced DC tattoo/piercing parlors - its always going to be back to Metamorphosis for me from now on! read more

I have had all sorts of things done to all sorts of places on my body at Metamorphosis. The conch of my ear has been pierced and stretched, my lobes have been stretched, my tongue, eyebrow, and a couple of other piercings. Each time the service has been friendly, warm, comfortable and so far above par that I don't think the staff at Metamorphosis can even see par as they are looking down upon it from so far above. I've had a couple of piercings I was unable to remove but needed out for an MRI and Paul was more than willing to remove them for me and then later replace them. I love metamorphosis. I can't really imagine going anywhere else for a piercing. Though initially I did! In my younger days I had gotten a few piercings from Artistic Skin Design and Skin Quake. I was actually initially referred to Metamorphosis by a piercer at Artistic when I wanted my conch pierced with an 8 gauge needle and they referred me to Metamorphosis because they themselves did not have the equipment to do it. I went to Metamorphosis for a new nose stud-- big mistake. When I arrived, the woman behind the counter who was "helping" me was incredibly condescending and rushed me to choose a piece of jewelry, all while chatting with one of the other women behind the counter about how terrible their coworkers are. This alone was highly unprofessional and put a bad taste in my mouth. Once I selected my piece, the piercer came out and did the jewelry change (flat back nose stud to a screw nose stud). However, the piece that the piercer put in my nose was not the stud that I had selected. The piercer didn't realize her mistake until I was at the register. She did reduce the price of the piece that she put in my face, but did not notice that the piece was significantly longer than what I had originally selected and did not offer to change or cut the stud to make it more suitable to my features. To their credit, I was impressed with how clean and comfortable the facilities at Metamorphosis were. However, that doesn't compensate for the poor service I received. I will not be returning, and highly encourage anyone looking to do a jewelry change go elsewhere. read more

I had my industrial pierced here several years ago, great experience and great jewelry that my super sensitive skin didn't react to. I'd been planning a really meaningful tattoo and made an appointment with Trevor several weeks ago on a recommendation from a friend. We arrived last night a few minutes early. After sitting for a half hour, I asked the chick at the front desk (who was none too friendly) what the hold up was. She absentmindedly informed me Trevor had been quadruple booked and that it "could be awhile." Why you wouldn't tell me as soon as I walked in is beyond me. She clearly couldn't have cared less. The only thing that saved this from being a two star review was Paul ( I think that was his name, I hope!). He happened to have an opening, was professional and apologetic and gave me a beautiful tattoo. He was fast, efficient and made sure I loved it. Bottom line, the artists are great, front desk customer service not so much. read more

Actually just left this place. Made an appointment weeks in advance for a Saturday (today the 28th). Walked in on time for our appointment. Was told that our appointment was last week. That was completely untrue. We specifically made this appointment on a day in which we had a sitter. Last Saturday I was working. I would not have made the appointment then. After the original scheduling appointment. I emailed the artist with the designs. Stated clearly the date and time of the appointment in the email. The woman behind the counter would hear nothing of this. Although when asked to provide the appointment slip, she could not locate it. Then she proceeds to tell me that we can make another appointment and put another $80 deposit down. Because we had lost our first deposit. She then looked through some papers and we frustratingly said "well clearly signals were mixed, our deposit should not be lost". I offered to show her the email. She acted disinterested. So. Needless to say. Our business is going elsewhere. And after having a tattoo and piercing done here prior, we are upset at the loss. However, customer service? They have none. Have fun spending our 80 bucks for your mistake. read more

I got my tragus pierced today by Heather and I absolutely love it! The store was very clean and professional looking and everyone was very kind. Heather welcomed me and my friend back to the piercing table and answered all my questions about the piercing and cleaning processes. I was most impressed with the cleanliness while piercing. Heather changed her gloves 3 times: once to open the tools and jewelry, once to clean my ear, and again to do the actual piercing. I went into Metamorphosis with a friend to get my ears double pierced because I'd heard a lot of great things about the place. My friends who have gone there have all had great experiences and mine was great too. The people that worked there were friendly and they had a nice selection of earnings and Heather, who did my piercings, was professional and kind and I was happy with everything until a couple weeks later I noticed that the piercings did not match up on both ears. On my right ear, there is a lot more space between the first and second piercing than there is on the left. The spacing on the left is great but on the right it's too far apart. So I'm disappointed. read more

My sister and I used to frequent this place. They have some of the best jewelry. However, on more than one occasion the staff has been rude to us and made us feel unwelcome. When we brought this to the owner Kristin's attention her response to us was "we really try not to be but sometimes were just really busy." As a business owner myself I would be mortified if a customer told me they weren't being treated fairly. Being busy is hardly an excuse for rudeness. Paige made a couple of design suggestions which made the tattoo more sleek and durable, and she was friendly and personable throughout the tattoo process. I went in last week to get my forward helix pierced and had a great experience. My friend went the week before to get some piercings done and easily convinced me to go when I was in town. Heather did my piercing and was really sweet and a great conversationalist. I was a little nervous since the cartilage piercing I got years ago at another place took a long time to heal and can still be sensitive. This piercing wasn't painful and I was sleeping on that side the next night. While I realize part of this has to do with the location of the piercing, I also think it has a lot to do with the skills and cleanliness of Metamorphosis. My tattoo was about twice as much as it would have been at any other place but it was well worth it. I opted to get a tattoo at another shop to save money. Let me preface this by saying first that I lived in Indiana for 8yrs and I've heard of Metamorphosis and the work that they do. I've heard that the tattoo artist are great. I recently moved to Arizona and after much thought and debate i figures that since I was in town on business this week. The next piece that I'd get would be here. It'd be well with the trip for what I wanted. It only helped that metamorphosis was recommend by my best friend who got her first tat here and wanted a piercing here. The issue for me was I never got past the front counter, I was never asked what I wanted, never asked setup or talked to an artist. I came with my own artwork and ideas but it was assumed that I'd be using someone else's artwork. It also is a insult that the person(blonde haired young lady) didn't even seem to have interest in what what I was wanting, setting up a schedule etc. I stayed to support my friend but as for letting them do a piece for me... I'd rather go anywhere AND pay any price for an artist or shop that wants the business. If you're an African American male this is probably the last place you'd feel welcome. Our artist, Paul, was a really great conversationalist and made my worried mother feel at ease. He described the process to her in a way that was relatable but not intimidating. **1/14/14 Update** As a follow-up to my previous review, I've upgraded to a rose gold nose ring (also bought and placed in at Metamorphosis). Since then I've not had a single bit of trouble with my nose ring (other than the expected irritation when I've had a cold, etc). When I had my piercing done previously at another shop, I was having infections almost every other week. No longer! ***original April 2013 review** I got my nose repierced there last night by Kristin and it was the best piercing experience I have ever had! She made me feel totally at ease, explained every step of the way and made it virtually painless. Great explanation of the aftercare process as well. I have always heard such good things about this business. I have never been here before, until today. I was in a panic because a new septum ring I bought online was way too tight and it was causing a lot of pain. I emailed them, got a VERY quick, friendly response letting me know that I could stop by anytime before 9pm and they could save me. I walked right in, introduced myself and she remembered my personal situation. She took me back and I laid down and in no time I was out the door with a smile on my face and a little notch in my nose from my old septum ring.
