On my exploration of Vancouver, I really wanted to like this place. It is charming from the outside, and has that independent feel. in Uptown Vancouver, on Main, I was looking forward to the friendly atmosphere. However, I was greeted with a long line of customers who seemed less than thrilled. Maybe it was being met with instant dissatisfaction that affected the overall feel of this place, but I wanted to give the service a chance as I'm a firm believer that the service and product are ultimately what make a place good or great. I was sadly disappointed by watching the way the young lady handled and pulled the coffee. They are a Stumptown account, and I'm pretty sure if a rep saw the way the espresso was being pulled, they would not be pleased. The taste reflected the lack of professionality and pride in the coffee and the attitude of the day was depressing. I tipped regardless, but left unhappy, and threw away the coffee. I will be back some time soon on a different day at a different time. Hopefully this was just a fluke. read more

Really good crepes here at Mon Ami. I had the Nutella and banana, which I highly recommend. I didn't have any coffee, but a lot of people seemed to be ordering espresso/latte drinks. They have two types of crepes: sweet, and savory. Not the most exotic recipes, and not a place I would describe as fine dining, but the food is good and unlike a thing else in vancouver. Very unique and delicious crepes. I had the ham, pear, and brie savory crepe. The flavor combination was amazing. I could do this brunch every week. I also tried the mango smoothie which was very fresh and refreshing. I look forward to going back and trying a sweet crepe with some coffee or tea. Their style seems to be a larger crepe with less filling, compared to a smaller crepe with a lot of filling. Still plenty of food! If you are in a rush for food, this may not be the best choice - I've waited between 20-40 mins for different meals. However, I'm happy with that as I wanted some downtime and enjoyed the cafe. I have visited this cute and quaint cafe several times over the past few years with great experiences, crepes and coffee. However, my visit today was different. I ordered a to-go order for one crepe and waited 25 minutes before it was done. The place was fairly busy with holiday visits and such. That on its own I would have shrugged off. But as I sat there surfing the net and waiting for my order, the gal making the crepes was eating bites of food while making people's orders. The first time I noticed I thought I might have missed something abs saw it wrong - part of a crepe stuck to the hot crepe maker and she scraped it off, picked it up and ate it. A few minutes later, she got one of the containers out of the fridge underneath the counter, opened it up, took a spoon and scooped a spoonful of whatever it was and ate it. I felt it was unsanitary and worth mentioning. She just seemed to overall not care about what she was doing. Taking her time, overly trying to socialize with other staff and on top of it - eating while making others food. I love this place and want to give it more stars because overall it's deserved - just can't under such circumstances. Hope this changes and others don't experience the same. Best of luck! read more

We go here after karate class at the Marshall Center on Saturday. Love the smoked turkey, red pepper and feta crepe. I ask them to make it with buckwheat. It comes with a small salad. I go with the white wine vinegar. And I top it off with a matcha latte sometimes. They also have a number of sweet as well as savory crepes and a few salads. Bon appetit read more

This is one of my and wife's favorite breakfast spots. We treat ourselves on the weekend here for a delightful crepe breakfast and some of the best espresso in Vancouver. True, they do get rather busy but that should tell you how wonderful they are. The staff is always friendly even when they are slammed. We highly recommend giving them a try if you haven't already. Delicious!! I ordered a vegetarian crepe with feta and tried a bit of my party's cinnamon dulce crepe. Super big portions for the price and the savory crepes even come with a little salad. I will agree with a previous reviewer, a tasty sauce for the veggie crepe would have made it even better. Even better, the atmosphere inside is really nice. It's very laid back. There were giant life paintings on the walls when I visited, close up color studies of faces, and they were enjoyable to look at, much better than the generic art that often adorns café walls. Nice place with good coffee and French crepe. I like the atmosphere there a lot. I went there with a friend before dropping her at the PDX airport. There was little time to grab the breakfast. This place is wonderful in that I placed order and paid first. We did not wait long before before the coffee and food is ready. We tried the sweet nutella chocolate crepe, and sugar crepe, we also had their specialty coffee. Yummy all around. Coffee was delicioius. Art on top is always a great start! She tried the Chai, I had a drink listed on their menu with honey in it. YUMMMM! I had the Elvis crepe with jam. It was very good! My friend had a honey and butter one, or something of that sort and liked it as well. They took up the whole plate and were definitely enough food for one person! I'll definitely be back! Shame they don't serve anything but crepes... Like, eggs and bacon... Then my boyfriend would come in; seeing as we live nearby... There's also a little outside patio. Just a few tables... I have visited this coffee shop several times and was pleased with their services before. Just recently took my friend for some coffee and crepes. We walked in at 4:32pm ordered coffee and wanted to get crepes but the server told me that they stop making food at 4:30 so make sure you keep that in mind when coming to this place in the afternoon. This place is a few blocks from my house doing frequent it often. It's small in there, but if it's not too crowded it's perfectly cozy. The baristas are all well-trained (and nice!) so you'll get a great cup of coffee. I'd give it five stars if they had an option for drip coffee or pour over. I really don't know why this place is busy. The prices are NOT cheep! The coffee is good, but small, very small. For $4, I don't want a 1/4 cup of coffee. I could have gotten the same coffee at the library, but 3x bigger. It took forever for the food. Our coffee was long gone before it arrived. You buss your own tables, order at the counter, and pick up your own coffee. I'm not sure what my tip paid for. Our bill with tip was ~$36, not cheep for two crepes and two minute coffees. Now the "crepes," first, they are not crepes. They are thin pancakes. They are too thick for crepes. They are soft and flavorless. You know the Ethiopian spongy bread that you use as a utensil, think that. Flavorless sponge. So I ordered the pear and brie crepe. It was huge, drownding in brie (that must be where the $ went), with raw pear slices. That was it. What?! It also came with a salad, which is weird, so I substituted fruit. Thinking I would get some seasonal fruit. Nope, I got the rest of the raw pear and a half of a banana. Wow, just wow. I don't know what else to say. I was hungry and choked down what I could. I wasn't planning on eating a $11 sponge and brie wheel. I usually do not leave mean reviews, but come on? They really think this is good food? Atmosphere is cute, and the art was good. This is a nice little spot. Worth a look. I am first and foremost, a pancake man, I done understand crepes. My wife however loves them, she also has a lot of dietary restrictions so for that this place is great. They have in my wife's opinions amazing gluten free batter they use for their crepes, she was so happy to be able to have them again after learning about her sensitively to gluten. My grandma came to town and loved the salmon crepe. I always get the cinnamon and sugar crepe and it's just perfect. The coffee and whatnot is okay, but I'm not a big fan of Stumptown Coffee. I know!
