I am a creature of habit. I get the exact dish everytime I visit Sole' and it's the Shrimp Limoncello. A wonderful blend of Italian limoncello and shrimp, basil risotto, and spinach for a modest $23.95. I always skip dessert and go with their Bellini (peach and champagne cocktail) - It can't be beat! read more

I like Solé a lot and have been here for family celebrations many times. Service is great and the food is mostly perfect. There's one or two things I haven't loved - there's a fish in a too sweet cordial sauce which was wierd I thought- but eggplant meatballs and the clam and white bean appetizers are yummy. Sole has great food and decent wine, is reasonably priced, and consistent. Service staff is kind of weird particularly the balding, fat guy. He got loud with us for trying to use the coupon a few days too early. He's too loud in general. I do not trust him with cash. Didn't care for one waiter yelling at the busboy. The owner is always hanging out but he never greets customers, he just stands by the bar. Everyone likes it there. Gets crowded often. read more

My wife and I have been dining at Sole since 2003 and we go about once a month. When we got engaged, we both agreed Sole would be the restaurant were we host our wedding rehearsal diner and we did and as always Sole was fantastic. We have brought many friends and family to the restaurant and the response is always the same, they love it!!!!!! The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. The restaurant knows us quite well as since 2003 we have ordered the same appetizer, salad, and entree every time we have dined there....sounds crazy, but it is that good...24 Hour Tomato Bruschetta, Sole Salad, and the Mezza Rigatoni....that combination is worth trying. read more

My wife and i were given a gift certificate to this restaurant for Christmas. We never looked at the date that it was valid. The certificates sold at Christmas are only valid after the New Year. My wife and I unfortunately went before the first of the year. Unaware, I put the certificate and a $30 tip in the billfold. The hostess ran after us as if we were trying to beat the check. My wife and I were humiliated. I was so disgusted that I handed the gift certificate back to the hostess telling her that I was not interested in using it until a manager would address this issue. After the initial request and several other attempts, no one ever responded. If this is the way that Sole conducts business,I could never recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Superb! Came here for dinner after it had been changed from Sole which we always enjoyed. I was excited to try their new menu. We happened to be there during restaurant week and there were many choices to choose from. I had the bag of donuts which was not only incredibly clever, but absolutely delicious. The Rockfish with veggie risotto was fantastic and the tiramisu banana split was to die for. If you haven't been here, this is a must. Will definitely be returning to try everything else. Just came back from meta. We went early on a saturday to have a nice quite dinner and no one was in the main part of restaurant. As we are seated they bring us to the small back room and sit us next to a party of 10 with children. the food was average at best and not happy that they did not sit us where it would have been more pleasant for us. After a long hiatus, I revisited Sole last night with a friend who has gluten and dairy issues. The waiter was very accommodating towards her issues. Our meals were fabulous! She had the duck and absolutely loved it. I had the clam appetizer and a wonderful goat cheese and roasted pear salad. Everything was fresh and spot on. I am definitely coming back. read more

Tried this gem the first time on the 4th with friends. We loved it and can't wait to go back!! There is so much to choose from on this creative menu. My friend and I shared some of the specialty bruschettas to start and they were OMG delicious. I had the chicken parm ravioli which is beyond explanation. We were all just raving and moaning over our food! Our waiter was a young guy and he knew everything about that menu and told us his favorites and though he looked like a kid, he was an experienced pro and he cared about us having a good time. I just got home from dining out at Meta and was extremely dissatisfied with not only the subpar food, but with the customer service provided to me by the manager. I had an issue with a specific gift certificate that I was unable to use and was disgusted by how I was spoken to. He was extremely stand offish, cold, hostile, and unwavering. When explaining to me the ridiculous parameters of my gift certificate, and after driving all the way to Oceanside from Suffolk county specifically for this restaurant, he was unable to establish eye contact with me, or speak to me like an actual human being and a paying customer at his restaurant. Having said that, i ordered the salmon and was extremely put off by the fishy smell and was unable to take more than 3 bites of it without getting nauseous...I would absolutely never come back to Meta and I would strongly urge anybody who is considering going to rethink their choice. read more

My wife says this place might be her favorite restaurant. She often says to me lets go to Sole. She loves the Shrimp Lemonchello dish...yadda..yadda...yadda. Well, this is my review so here's how I see things. After taking advantage of the free valet parking, You'll find that Sole is a small restaurant. It has two rooms and the tables are packed in pretty tight. Its quite hard not to overhear conversations at nearby tables. They have a somewhat creative spin on italian dishes. I wouldn't describe Sole as a northern or southern italian restaurant, but rather a Nouveau Italian. Yes they have a few classic dishes such as parmigiana, and osso bucco, but Sole adds other unique options as mentioned earlier. Staff is helpful for the most part, and you may get a number of people helping you depending alot on where you are seated. On nights we were seated close to the kitchen, more people were close by to help us, when seated in the back room, we found that we were assisted less frequently. On my last visit I ordered a classic Chicken Parmigiana. What came out was not the typical pounded thin chicken, but rather a large whole chicken breast. So large in fact, That I was handed a Steak Knife to butcher it. I found my chicken breast to be dry, and not juicy at all. Tomato Sauce was plain-tasting and had no notes of basil or garlic. The chicken was topped with sliced mozzarella which looked like it could easily have been Kraft or Sargento. This is not how I like my Chicken Parm! I've also sampled the Chicken Parmigiana Ravioli in the past and found them to have a moisture problem as well. In the end you'll be left with a hefty bill, as Sole is not an inexpensive restaurant. So if you decide to try it, bring a coupon. In the end, Sole is Menza Menza. read more

Perfect neighborhood spot with great food (the fish dishes and risotto are pretty spectacular), great service and a bar that knows how to make a drink. Only two caveats to offer here: 1) Go early---hate to make you feel like you're prepping for an extended stay in DelBocaVista, but if you get here any more than a 1/2 hour after it opens, you're gonna be in for a wait, and the bar area can get pretty tight....and 2) While the Bellinis are "Harry's Bar"-perfect , the beer selection is downright embarassing for a restaurant of this quality---they should jettison that godawful Bud/Coors/Heineken lineup and pull the trigger on some better suds options. Other than that, Sole is a gem. Big portions of terrific food at moderate prices. What's not to love? read more

Been going to Sole for years...liked it very much. Meta was a bit of a disappointment! First, our party of 4 was seated quickly...place was empty. Then busboy brought water and 4 small rolls, no breadsticks that Sole always include. Waiter was good in describing specials. 3 of the 4 ordered the fish special and we shared 2 special salads. The salads were good, but the fish portions were tiny for what we paid for them. Each piece of fish barely covered the rice portion served with the fish. When the dinners were served, the busboy reached in and took the two remaining rolls. i had to tell him to bring more, not take away what was already on the table. The fish was tasty as stated. Desert was enjoyable, nice portion. The beer was ice cold, the house wine was ok and an average amount, not overwhelming, in the glass. On the whole, I've had better, and much bigger portions for less at NOVI in Baldwin or Davinci in Island Park. It will be awhile before we former Sole lovers will be back. read more

My husband and I used to eat here but they don't take reservations for less than five people so we stopped going. We revisited last week and I was disappointed. The restaurant is not what it used to be. The shrimp bisque was very salty. My husband liked his bruleed pear salad. I had the lobster ravioli for dinner and they were not good. It tasted like there was cream cheese inside. My husband's chicken parm was average. The nutella cheesecake was not good. It had a strange consistency and looked unappealing on the plate. There is only one word to describe the food and service at Sole. AMAZING! I have to be gluten free and it has by far the most delicious gluten free menu I have ever seen. Sole has the kind of food that I just get an urge for every couple of weeks. Sticking to my true self, I believe if something isn't broken, don't fix it, so when I discovered the perfect meal here, I've been ordering the same thing ever since. The restaurant itself is nice. Great decor, nice atmosphere. The problem is it can be pretty crowded on a weekend and the waiting can be pretty long. They don't take reservations for any party under 5 people, and they won't seat you until all 5 people are there. Anyway back to my perfect meal. Caesar salad, comes served in a bowl literally made out of cheese. Not going to extend your life, but certainly will make it more fun. At least for 10 minutes. The key here is the cheese has to be light in color. The darker it is, the more salty it is. For the main course it's the Filet Mignon in a Coca Cola Demi-Glaze. Absolutely delicious. I make sure to get the broccoli raab spring rolls as side order. I've had other things here and those were good as well, but when I'm in the mood I always go back to my usual. The food is good but they cram you in so wind up way too involved with the people on either side of you. Thankfully we had nice people next to us. They were not as lucky because on the other side of them a woman with a large hind quarters put herself in their food twice. It was a good laugh but it just shows how tightly they squeeze you in. What really annoys me is that they offer Groupon and Living Social deals and then offer a better deal when you get there and your coupons are not valid. Feels like a bait and switch. read more

Excellent REAL Italiano food made fresh everyday (closed on Mondays). The staff is great and there is PARKING for your car.

This food is just phenomenal. What a surprise from the unsuspecting impression the restaurant gives from the outside! Once inside we were greeted with a very helpful and happy staff. Although small, it's everything you would want from an Italian restaurant with a lot to offer for an intimate experience. Romantic, friendly and of course most importantly, delicious! Authentic and fresh.... Highly recommend the Shrimp Lemoncello, the Eggplant Parm and the Chicken Parm ravioli... The smoked salmon bruschetta appetizer was incredibly unique.
