    Olive oil cake

The reviews are flip floppy. Some are great, lots are not...So, I was a bit apprehensive about coming here but glad my friend convinced me because it was absolutely incredible. From the valet parking to the food and service , everything was top notch . If you've been to Rockville Centre on a weekend , you know just how terrible parking can be so the valet parking here gives it an extra 10 points ! Pretty big restaurant , bright colors , lots of light until about 8 when they dim them . Many reviews mentioned a loud noise level but I didn't experience that. Besides the loud drunk guy talking loud next to me lol .... Okay on to the best part... my favorite part .... The reason why we're all here ... FOOD! We started with the cheese plate for two. It was decent , I think they could have been a little more generous with the meat to match the amounts of cheese they give but still tasty for an app with a nice bottle of wine. For entree, I ordered the homemade gnocchi bolognese with fresh ricotta, I would definitely order this again. Melted in my mouth, super fresh and delicious . The scoop of fresh ricotta they added on top was just perfect . My friend ordered the filet of sole, which of course I had to sample for my review (sure, sure) lol ... this was really delicious as well, I would order this on a future visit . I asked our lovely waiter,Edgar what he recommends for dessert , he recommended the banana pudding cake which my friend ordered and I ordered the olive oil cake . I really hope the banana bread pudding cake is available Next time I visit because I totally missed out . It was insanely good. My olive oil cake was good too but the banana bread pudding was on another level. The service was excellent from the valet , to the hostess , to all the waiters . I will definitely be a regular here . Don't listen to the bad reviews, come try it for yourself like I did, you won't be disappointed

I have been here a long time ago and never revisited. Appetizers we had calamari, cheese board, Cesar salad. This was all good. I love when calamari is crunchy , tasty and not fishy. That was exactly that. I got the filet of sole , it came out cold I told my waiter and he fixed it right away which was great. I also want to add I thought the fish coating would have had the almond in the bread crumbs. But it was literally burnt almonds on top which was annoying but I just peeled it off bc the fish was good. Service was attentive and quick. My husband had veal chop and his friend had some type of pasta with sausage. They had no complaints. Penne alla vodka was delicious. I definitely will be back in the future.

The food was all actually outstanding. We had a sausage pepper pizza as an appetizer. And chicken Parm times two and the shrimp cavatelli. The service could not be beat. Very attentive without being overbearing. Slightly loud but relaxed atmosphere. We will come back

Loved my food. Service could have been a touch more polite, otherwise, I'll be back. This place has consistently had delicious Italian food for over 20 years.

Cozy restaurant. Parking is all metered outside. Food was excellent. Classic veal parmigiana with penne was great! Enjoyed my apple strudel with ice cream for dessert. Service was fair.

Dodici has always been on my list of favorite places to go to. Their food is always consistently good, flavorful and tasty. I went there for my parents for lunch we had several appetizers but our favorite were the stuffed clams and pizza, the linguine mareciaere was incredible and the cake made with olive oil was superior. Generous portions and incredible service. Beautifully decorated and lively restaurant. Definitely recommended!

Regardless, we ordered a bunch of appetizers to share including Cesar salad, Mediterranean salad, mussels in white wine sauce, octopus, and calamari. Portions were pretty small to share between 8 people (2 kids). The bread and olive oil was awesome. For mains, we shared the penne vodka with shrimp, lobster ravioli, shrimp scampi with grilled broccoli, and eggplant parm with pasta. The two kids had their own pasta and really enjoyed it. Again, everything was so delicious but just really small.... Had we known the size of the dishes, we would've ordered more. For dessert we shared the tiramisu, tartufo, lava cake, and ice cream. Lava cake did not ooze out chocolate which was disappointing for the kids. While food is pretty good here, I'd go somewhere else for better service experience.

I'd love to come back to try more. They also have reasonably priced bottles of wine.

When we had gone for dinner we decide to eat family style and shared the dishes we ordered. One of the items they do well are their pastas. The buratta rigatoni is was one of our favorites. The buratta went well with the creamy tomato based sauce. We also enjoyed the tortellini alla panna which had a cream based sauce with tomatoes and peas. I really like the chicken milanese dish which had a tender pounded and breaded chicken which a crisp salad with balsamic vinegar, Parmesan and buratta. We've been coming to Dario's for over a decade. It's the kind of old-school neighborhood Italian…read morerestaurant you return to for the food and familiarity -- not for polished service, but for consistency and charm. Or at least, that's what it used to represent. We dined on Wednesday, February 8th -- four of us: my brother, my best friend, and my 12-year-old nephew. A rare night where all of us were finally in the same place at the same time, and we were genuinely looking forward to it. The evening started simply enough. As always, service was direct and transactional -- order taken, minimal engagement -- nothing new, nothing unexpected. Where things began to unravel was around a very clear and important dietary restriction. Before ordering, we explicitly stated -- twice -- that one guest was pescatarian with a strict avoidance of any meat products, including stocks. We asked the server to guide us accordingly. We ordered a beet salad to start, followed by two shared dishes: Veal pasta Calamari fra diavolo (With four entrées to follow.) We also made a specific request for pacing -- the beet salad first, then the hot dishes. Instead, everything arrived 40 minutes later, all at once. When we calmly questioned the timing -- particularly why the salad hadn't been sent ahead -- the server immediately became defensive. Rather than addressing the sequencing, he defaulted to explaining that "the pasta takes time," repeating himself without actually answering the question. It was during this exchange that we learned something far more concerning: many -- if not most -- of the dishes are prepared with beef or chicken stock. This directly contradicted the dietary restriction we had clearly communicated at the outset. When we reminded him, his tone shifted further -- dismissive, irritated -- and he walked away mid-conversation. At that point, we asked to speak with a manager. A man approached and, when asked if he was the manager, responded: "I guess so." This was Paul, the owner. What followed was not leadership. Instead of listening, Paul immediately became defensive -- reiterating that dishes are made to order and that most items contain meat-based stock. There was no acknowledgment of the oversight, no ownership of the breakdown in communication, and no sense of urgency around what could have been a serious dietary issue. In fact, he said there is a minimal amount, further dismissing our one request. As someone who has spent over 30 years in hospitality, I made it clear: dietary restrictions -- especially those involving allergens or strict avoidance -- must be treated with precision and care. His response remained surface-level, disingenuous, and overly agreeable without any real accountability. One of our guests expressed that he felt uncomfortable -- not just with the mistake, but with the tone and lack of respect in how it was handled. He stated plainly that he did not feel welcome. At that point, Paul -- visibly insulted -- told us we were free to leave if we were uncomfortable. Then, in a moment that was both shocking and deeply inappropriate, he pointed at the table -- where my brother and his 12-year-old son were still finishing the beet salad -- and said: "Put those forks down." We could leave, but we had to stop eating immediately. It was an astonishing lapse in judgment. There were countless opportunities to de-escalate the situation with professionalism, humility, and grace. Instead, the interaction turned adversarial -- and unnecessarily so. My nephew was visibly shaken. Upset. And ultimately left the restaurant hungry. For a business that has long been part of the community, this experience was not just disappointing -- it was disheartening. Hospitality is not tested when things go right. It's defined by how you respond when things go wrong. On this night, Dario's failed that test completely. And as someone who has supported this restaurant for years, that is incredibly disappointing.
