On the water restaurant recently renovated, and I get to write the first review. Fresh seafood is in amazing abundance in Portugal at affordable prices. This places cooked the best seafood rice we had in Portugal with big shrimp and chunks of fresh lobster, an amazing pallet experience. Service and wine was excellent, a must visit if you are in this area of Portugal.

Went here with a very large group (60 of us). Beside the seafood being so amazing and the sauce so good I wanted to fill my carry on luggage with it, the staff was incredible. Being a pre determined menu, there were extremely attentive to some people in the group that were non seafood eaters and they addressed it with out being asked and made sure they had something to eat. Made you feel like part of their family!

This is the only restaurant in Portugal that asked for a tip. Afterwards I realized they ripped me off because VAT was included in my meal price. Don't fall for the tip is not included, it might be because I am American. My server was on the grumpy side and never once smiled, but I think that is his personality, he smiled for no one. Food: I ordered the pasta with chile, calamari, and shrimp. It was a unique pasta with garlic and tiny amounts of ginger, that played very well and there was like 2 chile rings and then calamari and shrimp. The pasta was cooked perfectly and right amount of sauce that just played well together. The calamari was cooked to perfection as was the shrimp but a few were not cleaned properly but everything tasted good. The chile did have a tiny bite so somebody might think this is spicy but was not for me, finally something with flavor. I did not eat all the pasta because then I ordered the octopus. The octopus was not cleaned properly but the texture was spot on and the taste was great, I added some of my own hot sauce on the side to give it some kick. Odd to have a boiled egg with the octopus, good taste but the green ring indicates the egg was overcooked. Everything was temperature hot and served fairly quickly. WiFi available. I should have just ordered the pasta because that was fantastic! The octopus was okay but took some work to clean. The pasta gives this place a 5. Service and tip with VAT already included would drop to 2. The octopus is 3 stars. But the pasta was the best meal thus far in Portugal.

We were given bread and olives to start (including gluten-free bread - woohoo!) We ordered vino verde for the table. We were shown many options of fresh fish and were told the different ways we could have it prepared. My sister, husband, and myself got the sea bass cooked in salt and enjoyed with potatoes and green beans. It was absolutely delicious. If I find myself in the area again (I sure hope I do!), I will gladly be back.

Keep in mind that with the location, view and great food comes a price tag, but worth it if you are a foodie. We started with octopus salad (incredible if you like octopus), shrimp cooked in olive oil and spices, and a half dozen oysters. My cousin's husband ordered a 4.4 lb lobster and loved it. Needless to say, he ordered no sides. My cousin and I split a whole fish cooked Portuguese style with potatoes and some veggies. Waiter brought it whole, but deboned it and served it for us. Service was as expected from a high end restaurant. Decided to go to Belem in Lisbon for nata, so skipped dessert. Overall, if you have an important business deal, a special occasion or just want a great meal, O'Faroleiro will make it special. Cheers!

There is a dreamy, gothic ambiance and elegance to the hotel while at same time it feels very clean and upscale. As with the Michelin portion of the restaurant, you are seated front and center to an epic view of the rocky shoreline at Guincho. Low key early Bacharach w Dionne Warwick music bubbles in the background. Nice low key lighting. Total vibes. We tried several dishes and everything was delicious. Not a bad one in the bunch. A lot of fish based dishes with Portuguese touches . Perfect proportions. Super tasty. All the management and service remembered all my family's general food, drink, wine, breakfast preferences throughout our stay, especially main waiter Rue who took great care of us, as well as Fortaleza do Guincho hotel manager Victor and his assist Alexander. Highly recommend this place.

For each course he explained a little bit of history as well as some of the flavor profiles. Of course being so close to the coast. This was a very heavy seafood based menu which was good. I wasn't totally blown away, but I still did enjoy some of the flavors. My favorite included the sardines and the frozen yogurt! When we started our dessert course Joel could tell that I was getting stuffed and he in smart weight or form asked us if we were from the United States which we said yes. He then said there's a song from Journey that's making me think of you. It's called, "Don't stop believing " and I laughed out loud. He was absolutely delightful and was a fitting companion to the meal.

Sooo I was so happy to find Restaurante Mar Do Inferno! It had gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean and the best seafood ! We made our reservation online before leaving California. It was easy and had an English and Portuguese option. We arrived and once we got there we were greeted warmly and seated quickly . There were all these fresh seafood options that you could pick from in live tanks ! Service was top tier !! Our waiter was funny and very entertaining! He warmed up even more as the evening progressed! We had the best view of the sea and ambiance was lovely ! We ordered the seafood platter - langoustines, lobster, prawns, sea bream, potatoes in a garlic butter sauce !! Everything was SO FRESH!! So delicious !!! Great wine selection especially European wines and cocktails too !! Hubby loved it and we definitely will come back next time we are in Portugal!!

Our group of five had lunch at this restaurant on 25 January…read more Four members of the group ordered raw oysters, and ALL four became ill afterwards with high fever, vomiting and severe abdominal cramps. The fifth person, who did not eat oysters, remained completely fine. We informed the restaurant promptly and submitted a complaint through the official Portuguese Livro de Reclamações. While the restaurant initially engaged, they denied any connection, requested medical documentation, and ultimately just stopped responding altogether... The whole experience resulted in our entire household being affected all at the same time, causing significant distress and two full days of missed work and school. Our elderly family friend got quite sick, used to be a regular customer there, he didn't even get an apology. We made repeated attempts to resolve the situation amicably and provided supporting documentation of the impact, but no resolution was ever offered (our total bill was approximately €380). Extremely disappointing, recommend to AVOID.
