I have been going to the Institute of Cosmetology, Esthetics & Massage for years for facials,…read morenails and massage and have generally had very positive experiences, which makes this situation especially disappointing. During my last massage appointment in March, the student assigned to me mentioned being exhausted and dealing with a death in the family. I sympathized with her situation, but unfortunately the massage itself involved very little pressure and did not help relieve the tension in my back muscles. When I requested deeper tissue work, she brought out a massage gadget instead of using her hands. I specifically requested a traditional hand massage without gadgets or elbows, but the session still did not feel therapeutic or effective. One concern I have is that the school requires clients to complete feedback forms directly in front of the student, which discourages honest feedback and makes clients uncomfortable expressing concerns openly. After the appointment, I politely informed the front desk that I did not feel I had received much of a massage. I was told someone would contact me. Instead, the only follow-up I received was a call canceling my next appointment, which had been scheduled with a different student. I called back twice afterward and received no response. Today, when I finally spoke with the owner, I was shocked by how condescending and dismissive the conversation became. Instead of listening, she talked over me and lectured me as if I were one of her students, or even worse, a misbehaving child. Rather than listening to a long-time client or offering a simple courtesy massage or any kind of gesture to resolve the issue, she spoke to me in a belittling and reprimanding manner. She even stated that I should be able to afford a $120 massage elsewhere and told me not to return for services. Insult upon insult. Don't ass-u-me a client is "poor" if he or she comes to your school. Without clients, your students could not complete their training. I get regular massages from my massage therapist of 15 years every other week. I came to your school because she is usually overbooked. At no point was I angry or disrespectful. I simply provided honest feedback after years of supporting the business. The experience left me feeling humiliated by a place that is supposed to help people feel relaxed, cared for, and valued. I feel offended and demoralized. There are many schools and businesses that welcome constructive feedback professionally and treat loyal clients with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect those values. Notice how the owner was quick to reiterate that this is a school, yes, I know. Raising your voice, talking over me and demeaning me solidified this fact in concrete. This school is also regulated. As a German, I return to Europe every summer. It seems a trip to visit a dear friend in Zurich is long overdue. Maybe CIDESCO can clarify this incident.

A few months later I start getting charged the $10 again but through a different location that I had never been to (details were on my credit card transaction) I called the number in the transaction they didn't have me in the system so they couldn't refund me so I had to file a dispute through my credit card this was early 2025. 2/12/2026: This is not only a review, but also a how-to. Booking with the school can be its own…read moreissue depending on the day. To start, I'll explain the how-to and important things to know. My appointment was for color and cut. First: When calling, dial 1201 for the extension. This was the only one I could get to pick up 2 days the week I booked. The automated service gives you 3 options, 1200, 1201, 1202. 1201 seemed to get me through both times after frustration of get put on hold multiple times when trying the other extensions. Second (learned this after I arrived for my appointment): Black chairs are the least experienced, blue is middle and red is the highest. It is not mandatory for a blue chair to move up to a red chair to graduate. Different skill levels also come with different pricing. Third (and most important): Be prepared to spend time on this appointment. I arrived at 5:15 PM for a 5:30 PM appointment. I didn't walk out until 10:09 PM. Forth: An estimate will be discussed before proceeding. Fifth: The payment for the services will be taken at the end from the school itself. For tip, you must pay the stylist directly via Zelle, Venmo, or cash. No cash back available from the cashier. Come prepared and ask your stylist their preferred form of cash app. Don't be a jerk and skip this part. These stylist work hard and they have payments for school. Don't assume the cost of the services covers anything for them personally. THE SETUP: The space very much had a Visible Changes vibe. Multiple chairs in rows with mirror and people back and forth through the area. COLOR: Natalie (Naty) was a blue chair. Super sweet girl, very personable, and I could tell she wanted to do a great job. She had a school friend assisting her with my color. I have very fine medium hair (on the short side of medium), so I wasn't sure why she needed assistance. I have never had my hair done at a school, so I was hoping for the best and trying to trust the process. The instructor walked by a couple times and added some verbal instruction and assistance. I felt good about that. The instructor also helped Naty with my color mixture. I was charged by the bowl. For my hair, she used two bowls, each at $15.00. Total for the color was $30.00. I have not had color done in at least 6-7 years, so my hair took really well to the chemicals. This is something to consider. Hair that needs a lot of processing, is damaged or unhealthy, would change my plans for a school to do my color. All in all, I am happy with the color. CUT: Natalie seemed to have more difficulty with the cut. She was having an issue with the layering and the separating of the hair. I get it though. Just like everything else, her groove will come with more practice. All in all, I am happy with the cut. The haircut cost was $10.00. So, for $65.00 (color, cut, and a $25.00 tip), I was able to have a vacation hair that I was hoping for; something bright and fun. My regular place would be $75.00 for the cut, $245.00 for the color, and then the tip. I wouldn't get out of there for under $400.00! I guess that's the difference between how your experience will be viewed. I was hoping to save money. I had more expenses than I anticipated for my vacation. I am not a vain person and don't really care much about my hair. If it didn't turn out well, I know it will grow out (color) and back (length). I was looking for something fun, cost effective, and didn't have much to lose. You men have no idea what it takes for a woman to get ready for a vacation. Manicures, pedicures, waxing, hair, vacation clothes, and so on! It is so expensive to be us! Lol Speaking of mani/pedi, I saw nail stations at the school, but I did not see anyone attending them. That may be certain days they do main/pedis. Everything turned out great for what my expectation was and what I wanted. I'm not trying to down the experience at all. Naty and Rachel (second stylist) really did a great job. Naty is truly a hard worker. I could just tell by watching her. I have gotten lots of compliments at work and from friends, so that's just a bonus. Would I go back? I would for sure if I could request Naty, but she is graduating in March 2026. I probably will go back again and see how it works out with another stylist. The only thing I was slightly concerned about was the "money piece" that frames my face is a little lighter than I expected, but it will be fun for my cruise. Other than than, the color is truly beautiful. I have always been told I have an usual natural brown hair color. I'm sure it is tough to pick a color treatment that will highlight it. They have a little shop at the entrance with hair care products and other items. Check them out. The benefits are far greater than the expected. Thanks for my experience, Paul Mitchell.

Well we didn't have an appointment so went by that evening as a walk in. It has been raining ALL DAY in Houston that day but the staff was very accommodating. The Vibe and Aesthetics are on point. This location is convenient to where we live so it all worked out well. My daughter ( Sherray) said she will definitely be making an appointment and returning in the future. The prices are very decent, we had additional charges because they had to add more products and do some detangling before actually washing/conditioning her hair which turned out great and she was pleased. I also plan on getting hair service here in the near future as well. Shout out to the student/hairstylist ( Anselma) & to her instructor who was nearby giving tips & suggestions. My daughter said the instructor was super cool as well. So they apparently recently upgraded or changed the system and we were unable to pay in cash nor Apple Pay. So remember to bring your debit/credit cards. Still cool to have cash in order to TIP the student which is a Kind thing to do for all of their efforts. So yesss, we recommend this location with a 5 out 5 glowing STARS! :-)

We were just standing there looking like idiots. Finally someone came in and I asked them that I wanted a haircut and a blow dry so the total I saw on the website was $25. My school district payed her in full in the beginning of July, $700. Once paid, the class dates were set for July 18th and August 1st. We had two dates set because she stated that she didn't want to do all four hours of the training in one day. Well, I needed to change the August 1st date because I mixed up my dates. I spoke to her July 13th and things took a turn. When asked what date did I want to change it to, I told her that I was available anytime during the week. She offered August 15th, but when I told her that I would be back in school but I can come after school, she stated that she works from 8:30 to 5:30 and she's not staying after that. I said no problem. She said "we can't do Sunday's because that's my day off, and I need my rest!" I never even mentioned coming in on a Sunday. Then I asked her, "well, how about the 25th or the 8th?" Then she says, "the 25th won't work because I'm coming back from out of town and on the 8th and teaching a class. I don't know what to do as far as your schedule because you're always traveling." I was like, okay. I told he that I'm out of school, so I'm flexible just let me know what works best for you. She then tells me " yeah, but I still have school. So here's what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna go against my better judgment and I'm gonna allow you to come in on Wednesday, July 20th @ 12pm." I said "okay, no problem." Then Audrey says, "it's not a problem, It really is a problem, but it's not a problem. And I just want to give you a soft warning, my students will be there and if my students need me during your class time, I am going to go tend to them." I said okay. She then asked for my info. You would think that she would already have it since $700 was paid on PayPal with all of my info on there, but I digress. I gave her my first & last name. Then she said "number". I didn't know if she meant my license number or my phone number, as oftentimes, your license number is needed with you take a class. I said "my phone number?" She replied, "YES N!GGA! You know, Jesus is on the main line? Your phone number!" I was flabbergasted. At that point, I wanted the money back and I didn't want to do the class anymore, but I knew deep down that she wouldn't return the money. I held my peace, and I gave her my info and we got off the phone. I received my confirmation texts and emails for both classes, both on July 18th @ 1030am and July 20th @ 12pm and I confirmed them both. July 18, the day of the first class which is scheduled for 1030am. At 10am, Audrey sends me a text asking me if I have acrylic, a model or a practice hand, tips, glue, etc. I responded back, am I supposed to? She texts me back asking me, well, what do you work with when you do nails? I was floored, especially paying $700 for a nail class, it's EXPECTED that those items are provided for you to use and any professional class where you pay that amount of money, those. We didn't discuss me having to bring anything. I get to the school at 1030, and the door is locked and no one is there. I text Audrey telling her that I'm there and she tells me that I'm really and my class isn't until 11:30 . She shows up at 11:04, I get inside and the vibe is off. I feel unwelcome and uncomfortable the whole time. She was very passive aggressive and talked down to me, like I'm stupid. She's in the second day of the class I asked her if she wanted to check my work after I prepped my nails, as instructed, and she proceeded to gaslight me and tell me that I'm too technical, I overthink, I lack self confidence and that's a sign of weakness and I'm getting in my own way, and she's trying to take me to the top but I'm always questioning things I already know, etc. She tore me down and then she hugged me. She's a bully. She's a narcissist and unprofessional. Wasted time & money. RUN AWAY.
