The owner, Julian, is a welcoming dude. Shows southern hospitality to everyone that walks through the doors of Empire. He cuts up a lot of athletes so I'll consider myself lucky to get a cut by him. I'm nowhere near mad though getting cut by his shop manager, Stephen. Took a minute for him to open up, but by the second cut, he was like long lost family. Never disappoints and I'm picky when choosing a barber in any city I'm in. I've never seen anyone walk out of there mad about their cut, so that just goes to show that Empire is loaded with talent so walk-ins are welcome to take advantage. I had a bad experience at this place. It could be a one off but I won't chance it again. I ended up at their old location since their website still shows the Hopper road studio but they are actually at the Little York studio. Parking was easy and it's literally attached to the Valero gas station next door. I made an appointment days earlier and when I arrived I wasn't really greeted. I just sat down and someone finally said hi and asked who I was there for. I arrived 10 minutes early and waited for nearly 45 minutes to be seen. My barber was nice but not very good. My fade is uneven from one side of my head to the other and I had to go to a different place to get it fixed. I can't recommend this place to anyone, go somewhere else. For the price, the customer service and quality of cut is better at other barbers. read more

I was in the hospital over Christmas, having had a heart attack. During my 5-day stay, I was looking horrendous, so I needed a really good shave and haircut. I got an appointment with Guillermo. He did a great job! He worked carefully and methodically, getting my head completely done, then turning his attention to the 2-week old facial stubble I had. He used a blade, and was very careful, especially around the crease in my chin where I've scarred it from numerous cuts over the years. After going to 6 different barbershops and having disappointing experiences I found Empire Studio on yelp. Since my first cut a couple months ago, shop manager Stephen has showed professionalism by always being on time and ready for our appointments. He specializes in fades, tapers and sharp line ups. So, here's my story: I desperately needed a haircut as I had a doctorate graduation coming up and I only had two days to make it from Corpus Christi, Texas to Bismarck, North Dakota. After hours of researching barber pics on yelp all over Houston, Texas, I decided that The Empire Barber Studio was the one for me. My criteria: a fresh haircut with meticulous designs that would help me look the best version of me, express my unique personality and stand out in conservative North Dakota. Boy, did I hit the jackpot when I met Julian. He thought that I had driven over 3 hours to get a haircut from him, but I reassured him that my flight was leaving from Houston. I strongly recommend this place. You pay what you get for. You can go pay 10$ and get a shitty hair cut at some Boring barber shop or pay what its worth to get a nice clean fade . This is the best barber shop in Houston since they take their time making-sure your hair looks fly as fuck. All of the guys are super nice, knowledgeable in supertalented with their craft of haircuts and straight razor shaves and designs. I have a little one who is hard to handle and Mike C. Always has patience with him while keeping him entertained so that he will hold still. I also have a 12-year-old who frequently comes in for cuts about every two weeks and is very into the modern-day fades and designs. We've never been let down.
