He also wasn't helping me with my dry eye by not telling me things that would help with the DED, like preservative free tears, mask at night, etc. Finally I found one of the best dry eye specialists in Boston area that really helped me with dry eye and used collagen plugs that never came out. When I told the new doctor my experience with Dr Kornmehl (didn't name him), he said let me guess who you went to and he guessed right. So if you suffer dry eye, stay away. There are a few really good dry eye doctors in the Boston area that will care about you and your eye health and not be in it for the money. He's no different than a car salesman.

This truly felt like a factory: 15 to 20 people lined up in reclining chairs in the area where eyedrops are administered and patients are prepared for surgery. Nurses, orderlies did not generally introduce themselves and tell me their position or tell me exactly what they were going to be doing to me. Surgeons and anesthesiologists were generally more consistent with the introductory information. One orderly-I guess that's what he was; he didn't give me his name or tell me anything about what he was doing until I said in alarm at how rough he was "what are you doing?" -Was charged with moving me into the operating room. no introduction, no explanation of what was happening, just rough handling. I can only hope and assume that the surgery was top-notch done by my regular ophthalmologist from Lexington Eye Associates. The paper/evaluation that they give you after all of the procedures to evaluate the service is woefully inadequate; an envelope is not even included so that the patient would have to take initiative to mail this back. Clearly either Lexington eye associates or the Surgisite facility itself does not put patient satisfaction at the center of their operations. I heartily do NOT recommend Surgisite as the place to have your cataract surgery.

At a time when I feared losing my vision due to macular degeneration, she was reassuring and supportive , and always answers my never ending list of questions, and with patience. Another side of Dr. Sang that I recently learned about is her mentorship. There are a group of young college grads working there who are taking a gap year and preparing to get into medical school. She is so giving and proud of how many of these interns have gone on to great careers. Each time you go for an appointment, it's a "major production." There are so many steps in the process and I have come to understand why it takes so long -- they take no shortcuts! There is a huge staff that supports Dr. Sang and each one has a specialty, from the people who answer the phone and make appts. to the people who do complicated eye scans. I don't envy the appt. people as everyone seems to want a different time -- including me -- and it's hard to make everyone happy, although they try. I guess my only complaint is that I wish I could turn back Dr. Sang's clock about 25 years so that she'd be in practice for another 25+ years. Yes, sometimes the wait is long, but you are told in advance how much time to allow for your appointment. It is absolutely worth the wait if you want the most comprehensive, experienced evaluation/follow up. All the staff are great. Monica is a gem and all the technicians and students revere Dr. Sang, for good reason. I always take Dr. Sang's recommendations regarding other aspects of my health as well. His secretary, Sasha, is super friendly, and Dr. Shriber is by far one of the kindest, most patient doctors you will ever meet. I'm not saying that I'm fussy, but when it comes to him asking me, "Which is better, 1 or 2? How about now, 1 or 2?". My response is always, "Can you do it again, Doc?" I don't know why. It's as if my eyes are always playing tricks on me. But his patience goes beyond the examinations. I swear it knows no bounds. I work on airplanes and once you hit 30,000 feet, these planes will suck all the moisture out of your body. And that extends to your eyes making your contact lenses uncomfortable to wear. Why not wear glasses then? I'm too vain. Anyway, there are contact lenses out there that advertise they are perfect for dry eyes. Over the years, I find them to be outright lies. So a couple of years ago, Dr. Shriber had me try a different pair every couple of weeks until I felt the contacts held enough moisture for my long haul flights. I remember saying to him, "Really? Aren't you going to get sick of seeing me?" No, he just wanted me to be happy with them. I went back 4 times before I finally placed my order. My last visit was a couple of weeks ago. 15 years later, I still LOVE going to this man. He is knowledgeable, generous, funny, and he also takes most insurance (if not all). Tons of street parking and a cheap public lot in the back ($ .50 an hour). If you need glasses, his office is connected to Gordon Optical which is run by his brother. I am so glad I made the decision to visit Dr. Le. In my first visit, she examined my eyes and found a condition that can lead to a retina tear. Dr. Le helped me get an appointment with a highly regarded ophthalmic practice. An ophthalmologist addressed the issue the same day. The ophthalmologist told me that I probably had the condition for around two years based on the scar tissue. He gave Dr. Le (who he doesn't know) a lot of credit for identifying a barely visible problem. He said that he could have missed it himself. Beyond the eye issue, Dr. Le was very thorough in examining my eyes, filling my prescriptions, and fitting me for the best glasses and contact lens. She is friendly, explains things effectively, and provides compassionate eye care. I would highly recommend Dr. Le to my family, friends, and anyone who is looking for an optometrist.

He explained the issue thoroughly, answered all my questions, and was overall very friendly and patient. No complaints. On my follow-up, though, I waited for an hour and a half to see him for less than five minutes for him to check my eye and give the all-clear. Fast forward to a year later, when I was truly apprehensive about another long wait time in the middle of a work day. This time, for an annual eye exam, I was in and out for about an hour, which wasn't too bad. The technician I saw before Dr. Kaufman was great - I wish I got his name. He was painstaking in making sure my prescription was right and going over what he was doing. Excellent bedside manner. So, all in all, I think this office has made improvements in reducing patient wait time. That said, one suggestion I have is to validate parking for patients. This is one of the few doctor's offices I've been to where they don't offer this and it bothers me - patients can wait up to an hour and the parking ticket (which isn't a flat rate) is one extra cost on top of the bill. The parking situation next to the office is also stressful. During peak times, the lot right next door is full or reserved for residents and you have to scramble to find another spot in the garage across the street.
