My experience at Excell Orthopedics in Woburn was extremely disappointing…read more The office staff was friendly, welcoming, and I was seen right on time. My intake was completed, my medications were reviewed, and I was sent for X-rays before seeing the physician. The problem is that when I scheduled the appointment, I clearly explained the reason I needed to be seen, provided the testing that had already been completed, and filled out the online questionnaire detailing my symptoms and medical history. When the doctor entered the room, he asked why I was there. After I explained, he told me he does not treat that condition and would refer me to Neurology--even though Neurology was the specialty that referred me to him in the first place. I appreciate the doctor's honesty and that he did not attempt to treat something outside his area of expertise. However, it is frustrating that no one reviewed my referral, records, test results, or questionnaire beforehand. Had they done so, someone could have informed me that this provider does not treat my condition, saving me from leaving work, paying a specialist copay, undergoing unnecessary X-rays, and incurring additional insurance costs. The appointment lasted less than 10 minutes. The doctor reviewed EMG results I was already aware of and documented that my symptoms could be related to neuropathy, despite my explaining that my neuropathy affects my legs and feet, has significantly improved, and is not related to the shoulder and hand symptoms that began while taking a medication. I contacted a manager afterward, who acknowledged the issue and said she would educate the staff and get back to me. More than 24 hours later, I have not received a follow-up. While I appreciate the commitment to staff education, it does not address the time, money, and energy I lost, including the copays and additional imaging costs. Overall, this felt like a completely avoidable situation that should have been identified before I ever arrived for the appointment. My appointment was at 2:20 I checked in my receipt says 2:13, the women who checked me in was extremely kind and we chatted a few - I was brought back right at 2:20, went for xray at 2:30 after sitting going over my medications ect .. back to the room. The X-ray tech was very friendly also! I was back in my car at 2:43.

I have been a patient with Excel for many years. I have had both knees replaced and one shoulder…read moredone twice. The knee surgeries were done perfectly. Dr. Connors was professional, talented, experienced and had a wonderful way of connecting with patients. Their part time back surgeon is not the best. He is too busy and doesn't give the confidence that you need to allow someone to cut into your spine. His work was minimally acceptable. The doctor who specializes in shoulder surgery was a dissatisfaction. After doing a shoulder twice, he dropped the case by just stopping communication. I was given the name of a different doctor who he didn't have any real knowledge of and ordered a final scan the results of which he never spoke to me about. At a final meeting that I made to try and find out what we were doing next, he was detached, in a hurry to just drop the case. He was clearly not interested in continuing to try and find a solution. Being a senior doctor who heads the department, he was completely uninterested in continuing with me. I have had to find another surgeon to continue working with who is willing to find a way to correct the problem and find a way to help get the daily pain unDer some control. The support staff at Excel is the best I could ask for. They are helpful, courteous and go above and beyond to get you what you need. So, if you decide to use this business, be very aware of the unprofessional attitude of some of the surgeons and be sure to make the right choice.

(Lipo, tummy tuck) with Dr. Wallach, and after he examined me, I was told That I wasn't a good candidate for this, and that I would NOT be happy with the results. They said they could refer to me to a different doctor, but after leaving the office, I contemplated and decided that if the doctor said NO, I shouldn't push my luck, after all I'm 63 yrs old. As long as I didn't have a surgery booked, I could cancel. I was greatful for the honesty of the Doctor. When I called about getting a refund (I had paid in full) the real help, came from a nice lady named Tina, from Warrick, Rhode Island, who called me! Tina helped me in securing my entire refund!! It's people like you that give me faith in humanity THANK YOU TINA! Sandra Johnson

A good surgeon will always call his patient to see how they are going. Also I did laser sculpting which was the biggest waste of money and that cost me thousand of dollars and the last 1,500.00 I asked if I could be refunded because I chose not to do the service. I received no calls back from the Manager after calling several times about this!!! MY ADVICE SEE A REAL PLASTIC SURGEON AND NOT A SURGERY CLINIC WHO STEALS YOUR MONEY!!! WILL NEVER REFER THESE PEOPLE TO ANYONE!!!!!

Dr. Costello is an amazingly caring ENT who not only treated me when I first had symptoms of…read morehearing loss, but referred me when he knew I needed care at Mass Eye and Ear in 2015. Fast forward 6 years and I had lived through a medical saga that turned out to be a spinal CSF leak and I had to travel cross-country dozens of times for experts to treat that condition. Those doctors thought my hearing loss, tinnitus, and vestibular issues were additional symptoms of the spinal CSF leak, but after surgery to repair that issue, my ear issues did not resolve when the rest of the leak symptoms did. We thought maybe it was just damage from the leak that became permanent and I gave up on looking for different answers. That's when I made an appointment for a follow-up hearing test with Dr. Costello even though I hadn't seen him in years. I remembered that he was so kind and didn't think I needed anything more than testing to see if my hearing loss had changed any over the years. I brought all sorts of information with me regarding spinal CSF leaks so I could share my story with him and all that had happened to me and my case over the years In case he ever came across another patient like me. Not only was he open to hearing all about it, but he was excited to talk and learn more!! While I was speaking with him, he pulled up the imaging I had at MEEI years ago and realized almost immediately that I had a condition that was overlooked by the MEEI doctors that explained all my ear issues - hearing loss, tinnitus, popping, vestibular deficits, etc! He immediately realized that I needed to once again be seen at MEEI, but after I shared my concern about the previous doctor I saw there not telling me about the issue (semicircular canal dehiscence) years ago, so he personally called and got me connected with a doctor there that he really admired. She was wonderful, too! I am currently still going through testing at MEEI and a path forward for me is still unknown, but with Dr. Costello's keen eye, caring nature and follow-through, I no longer have mystery symptoms that may have caused me many more trips across the country and dangerous procedures, thinking that they were still due to the spinal CSF leak!! Dr. Costello cleared up so much for me and I will forever be grateful. Even if my continued issues are not able to be resolved, I now have answers and relief from the worry of not knowing what was happening to my own body and brain. I know that sometimes his daughters check the Yelp reviews, so if you are reading this - please know that your Dad is awesome and please tell him how much I appreciate him! I had a tonsillectomy on August 7nth 2023. I met with Dr. Brown who was extremely professional and…read moremade sure I was set up with the surgical coordinator to get this procedure done and over with. Sherri Morales, the surgical coordinator was extremely rude and careless. Every-time I had called her number to speak with her about my surgical time and or questions I had leading up to my surgery she had an attitude and no interest on being on the phone or in person talking with me, which is part of her job to remind you. The doctor/surgeon I had was Dr. Doolittle. I was prescribed 40 Oxy @ 5 mg and was told by one of the discharging nurses at Shields Surgical Center to take Tylenol every hour. My caretaker was there to receive the pain regime since I was still coming out of the anesthesia. By day 2 post op I was vomiting non stop and couldn't stop shaking. The person who took care of me as well as myself were greatly concerned. By day 3 post op I was rushed to the Hospital by ambulance closet to me, and had told them the type of procedure I had, as well as the pain regime I was directed to be on after surgery. I was overdosing and slowly killing myself without even having the knowledge of it. The doctor over at the hospital was greatly concerned for my liver and how much Oxy and Tylenol I was prescribed and being told to take. I was severely dehydrated as I didn't eat or drink knowing that I would throw it up due to Oxy and Tylenol. I also had a UTI. Dr. Doolittle had instructed me to NOT take any Ibuprofen or Motrin because of bleeding. The doctor at the ER told me otherwise. I left the hospital after being on an IV, prescribed nausea meds and as well as a new pain regime which consisted of Tylenol and Motrin/Ibuprofen every 3 hours switching them so I get a little bit of something every 3 hours. ENT were very quick to send my bill to me. I had spoken with Jennifer and had a referral from my PCP sent over to them as well as insurance to cover the bill. A week went by with no phone call back from them regarding the bill, including no e-mail or mail sent out to my address. I called them to make sure everything was squared away with my bill. It wasn't. Nobody called me to let me know that they needed another referral from my PCP. I am now 1 month post op, and on my right side of the back of my mouth (where my tonsils were once located) I still have a chunk of tonsil that was not taken out. I have relocated since my surgery and am now going to have to find a new ENT doctor to fix Dr. Doolittle's mess. I am so frustrated as this was my first surgery ever and no one took care of me like I thought I would be taken care of here. My anxiety about this surgery was extreme, I got sedated before surgery because of the stress and anxiety I was having while nurses and the anesthesiologist were prepping me before I went under the knife. It takes a lot to trust anyone when you aren't conscious enough to be able to trust them visually. Please take this as a precaution before entering this office and receiving treatment.

I went in in 2015 after 6 years of having blue green discharge from my nipples and had aspirations as well as a biopsy in a tag placed. I go in every 6 months for mammograms but with my super dense breasts I have to request an ultrasound and an MRI. Just recently looking through my paperwork and realizing I was diagnosed with pash disease, which is considered non-cancerous however, it has been over a decade and I have been complaining non-stop about the discomfort in my right breast just to be ignored and not even told that I have a disease. And when I went in just this last year. Dr. E and I were discussing some things and I exclaimed along the lines of I know that obviously some of the stuff I'm dealing with is hormonal and her response was there. You go. You diagnosed yourself! Never once. Did she ever bring up the fact that Cash disease has a lot to do with estrogen and progesterone or even offered to do a full lumpectomy to remove the painful lesion that has been in my breast for the better part of a decade! I am beside myself with the lack of caring that I have received when it comes to my concerns and being treated like I'm some hormonally challenged person like that doesn't understand their own body! I requested a new breast surgeon. We shall see .. Never mind the fact that the last nurse I spoke to kept insisting I had my biopsy in 2019 which is false. It was in 2015 and I know because I was working and went on my lunch break and had to use an ice pack for the rest of the day at my orthodontic office. Back in 2015. LOL people just gaslight you!
