From the teachers to the staff to the other families, everyone is welcoming, supportive, and genuinely invested in the students. The teachers care deeply about their students and go above and beyond to support them both academically and personally. I've seen firsthand how much dedication they bring to the classroom, and it makes a meaningful difference for my daughter. The Extended Care program has also been amazing. As a working parent, it's incredibly helpful, but what really stands out is how wonderful the teachers are with the kids (shout out to Mrs. Cindy and Mrs. Isola). They create such a positive environment that it's sometimes hard to get my daughter to leave at pickup! Another alum here. Heed this warning and please don't send your child to this school if you want…read morethem to thrive emotionally. I started at SV in kindergarten, and the first few years weren't bad. I was a kid, I made friends, I was happy, and I learned the alphabet and how to read. Everything was going great. Then COVID hit, and everything just degraded from there. Our sports teams used to be very good, but now that whoever signs up gets in and the coaches are parent volunteers who kind of struggle, the teams had a habit of holding up unfortunate losing streaks. How the teams does is based on the athletic ability of its players. If they suck, the team will inevitably suck. I speak from the perspective of a former student-athlete who partook in some of the very few sports available. Then there is the case of the academics. On the bright side, my class was blessed with excellent junior-high teachers, much so our eight grade home room teacher. The way some of the teachers taught while I was in middle school made me so confused and unprepared for high school. I had to seek the help of my peers who had to learn the math lessons themselves and ask them for the formula. It also didn't help that math was and never will be my strong suit. Some of the staff got a little too comfortable and spoke to the student in ways their peers would to them. They are also double-sided like the edge of a sword, showing kindness one second and tearing you out the next. Some may say that acting in a way that makes the teacher seem like they are of the same generation of the student towards them would make them more comfortable with that teacher, but I strongly disagree. The staff are there as ADULTS who must be role models to these students who are still developing their prefrontal lobe. I became very uncomfortable with the way these teachers spoke to myself and my peers, thus making me want nothing more than to graduate asap. It shouldn't make a difference now that I've moved on to an excellent school that I love, but I fear for the future generations. Despite being ipad kids, they deserve to have a good education as a youth and to have proper support. They deserve to have role models that make them want to follow in their footsteps in the future. They deserve to understand every math lesson in the way I never really did. Even if they don't understand that lesson, they should feel comfortable enough to go to the teachers on their own time and seek help. Bad things out of the way (I haven't mentioned all of them but this should be enough), I did love the friends that I found there. The school community is small, which is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing being that you get more individualized attention (if at all) and you're more likely to be friends with your entire class, curse being that if you have drama (trust me, all sixth graders will get into drama) then you can't have anybody to turn to if you have a horrible falling-out or if everybody just hates you. The last part is kind of your problem. I was lucky that I had friends to confide in and ones that were very close to me. Despite having to part with some of them, I'd say that they were the good things that happened to me in my years of going to this school. If you didn't read the whole thing, here's the summary of what I just wrote. Don't send your kid here. Even if you live close by, you might as well send them to Sierramont. If you really want to go to a private school that bad, send them to SJB or something.

I'm currently in 6th grade and I'm learning Ratios in 6th grade. All of the classrooms are designed nicely for kids and the school is well decorated. Lastly, the students there are nice. Can you believe that! not to mention the principal at the time was very rude to myself and to other staff including parents! and I had to get my attorney involved! she than quickly shut-up and ignored me. But I think what I want to review the most is that other teachers are still scared to speak up about things. I was an rsed teacher at 3 of their San Jose schools, now I am a public school district employee and I belong to cta (california teachers association) and the benefits from my public school district are for more superior than anything that i had while working as a rocketship teacher. and by unionizing you can have more rights as public employees, because we all want the best. And the biggest benefit of belonging to a union is *tenure and job security. Just remember you cannot be fired for wanting to unionize. And this school and other San Jose RSED schools were threatening my freedom to speak and voice my concerns. anyhow while i was a teacher for rsed we were all sent an email from our ceo! about how *"unionizing prevents being able to accomplish our rocketship mission statement". i know now thats not true! what i was really being told was that the higher-ups didnt want me having a middle-man to protect me. its as simple as that. please know that i support what rocketship does for our children and their families! teaching at rsed were some of the best years of my teaching career. I fully support education but we are only human and we are all teachers who deserve protection, we all have the same goal and want only the best. but at the same time its important to think about our rights as public employees.

I have interviewed many parents before sending my son here and they all said their kids are very happy attending this school. 4) Polite students. I once took a cake to my son's school and shared the cake with his classmates. When I left, 3 or 4 students came to me and said thank you. 5) Strict discipline. My son was kicked out of school for 1 day because another kid misled him. He had to write an apology letter per the teacher's request. I am pleased with this because I want a school to be strict on discipline. If you are being late or bully other kids or misbehave, and no consequence is given, this is not good for the child. So I am glad my son learned the lesson early. 6) Extremely generous. They give generous financial aid, and I am very thankful 7) A lot of after-school enrichment program choices.

My experience with Andrew Hill High School and portions of the district administration was deeply…read moredisappointing and emotionally exhausting as a parent. Over an extended period of time, I repeatedly attempted to seek help, intervention, guidance, and family reunification support involving my daughter and concerns connected to school staff boundaries and communication. Instead of meaningful intervention, I often felt dismissed, minimized, and left without clear direction regarding procedures, parental rights, escalation processes, or who was ultimately responsible for helping resolve the situation. One of the most frustrating parts of this experience was the inconsistency in communication and decision-making. At different times, parental approval and involvement were clearly recognized and required for school-related decisions, extracurricular participation, transportation matters, and documentation. However, when I attempted to assert concerns and objections regarding my daughter's living situation and involvement with school staff, those concerns were repeatedly treated as a "private matter." As a parent, that contradiction was extremely difficult to understand and navigate. I also believe there were significant failures involving communication, escalation procedures, staff boundaries, trauma-informed response, and family reunification efforts. No parent should have to fight this hard simply to be heard while asking for help involving their child. The emotional impact extended beyond my own family and affected multiple students and families connected to the school environment. I will say there are individual staff members who clearly care about students, and I recognize that schools handle difficult situations every day. However, my overall experience exposed what I believe are serious weaknesses in policy clarity, procedural consistency, and parent communication. My hope is that lessons are learned from situations like this and that stronger training, clearer procedures, better communication with families, and more appropriate escalation protocols are implemented moving forward. I am sharing this review because I believe parents deserve transparency regarding how difficult situations may be handled and because I hope future families receive more support, clarity, and intervention than mine did.

They don't do pest control at all and they allow kids to eat in classrooms which contributes more to the ant and bug problem. Staff is extremely unprofessional and if you anger them they will harass you personally. A few months into the school year this one guy got really pressed because I was riding my scooter to the bike racks (everyone else was riding it on campus IN FRONT OF HIM but when I did it he targeted me) when he saw me riding it to the bike racks He came up to me. I finished locking my scooter up and when I looked up he was in my face and was being condescending and rude, I decided to not engage and not give him attention because I did not want to create a scene. He tried to follow me and take me to the office because I was not giving him any attention, I ended up running away when he tried to take me to the office. After that I didn't see him the rest of the day. the next day in the morning I was late to class, there was nobody at the entrance except for that guy. I was riding my scooter going into school going 4 MPH and there was no one around. I rode it to the bike racks and locked it up. When I turned around I saw him (he scared the f outta me) he then said and I quote "hey buddy remember me from yesterday" and he said it like as if he caught me or something. this guy really wanted to make it his personal goal to get attention from me and harass me. When he tried to take me to the office again I ran away. Later in the day at lunch I saw him near the bike racks so I walked towards the bike racks acting like I was gonna get on my scooter and ride around campus. I then started recording the corner that lead to the bike racks because I knew he would come and harass me again, lo and behold he showed up to harass me again. I got it on video and linked it if you wanna see. Once I got him on video I left for a few minutes and then went back to my scooter to scrape the dirt off it and that guy saw me again and he was hanging out with 2 other lunch monitor guys, long story short he came up to me again while I was standing by my scooter scraping off dirt and said "let's not do that" and other stuff basically saying I wasn't allowed to touch my scooter Because I rage baited him by recording him harassing me he went and made it his personal goal to get revenge on me. He went and harassed me the whole day and harassed me a total of 5 times that day (I'm not gonna go in depth to each one because then the review would be way longer) anyways at the end of that day he finally found where my 5th period was, my name and who I was (somehow) and he went to my 5th period to harass me personally, he did this because he knew I couldn't run away if he harassed me at my class so I had to come to the office with him, he brought me to Georgie (Georgie handles conflict on campus) and georgie told that guy to leave me alone. This guy was so angry that he made it his personal goal to find out who I was and my classes just to go harass me there so I couldn't ignore him anymore. Everyone ended mostly siding with me in the end but the fact this guy is employed here is comical they should fire his a*s for sure.

I just have to write a recommendation for Almaden Country Day Schoo!. We have been there for 2…read moreyears and have had a GREAT experience. They came highly recommended and I was obviously looking for a school with academics as a priority. Math and Language Arts are THE integral part of the school day. I feel confident my child will be more than ready for the most prestigious high schools. One hundred percent of this year's graduating 8th graders applying to private high schools were accepted I just heard. Wow. The hands on Science program and "Maker's Space"(which teaches children coding, robotics, 3D printing, electronics, etc.) are both phenomenal and I cannot say enough about their Art, Music, P.E., Theater, Foreign Language and Library programs. The difference however, with ACDS is its focus on each child. The moment I enrolled I knew I was entering my child into knowledgeable hands under caring and dedicated teachers that would encourage his gifts as well as continuing with academic rigor. Whether it be their after school sports or enrichment programs as well as the over 40 electives in middle school, he would find "his" path. Since that day, my child has broadened both in his academic knowledge and most importantly, his self confidence. He is an 4th grader and loves his school! The tenured teachers, under an exceptional Head of School, encourage self exploration and provide the opportunity for each child individually to find their path while still adhering to curriculum. No school is perfect and I am totally aware...but they ask. In a yearly survey we are asked, How are things? How can we do better? Does your child feel challenged and accepted? Do you feel a part of your child's education and development? Do you and your child feel a part of the community? (Along with much more!) Its other accolade is their TLC program which is one of the only specialized programs of its kind in the Bay Area. It provides 4:1 ratio for children who need small group education (within perimeters) in Math, Language Arts and Social Studies while integrating for other studies into the larger classroom experience in preparation for high school. It is a supportive environment with specially trained teachers that allows children to feel confident in their learning. My child has benefitted tremendously from this program while still feeling accepted within the larger program. ACDS has intentionally planned for seamless transitions within children's daily routines. I encourage anyone interested to go to their website or an open house and see for yourself. I encourage you to talk to other parents! Several! Or even the kids (whom by the way give the open house tours.). Your school choice is a big decision I know. I was there. The more information the better so you can make the decision what is right for your child and your family. ACDS was the right choice for mine.

He's become so much more patient, and he's already rocked two recitals with the other kids! What's really cool is how she runs the group classes. She keeps them super engaging and fun for the kids, but they're actually learning the "real" stuff too, like solid technique and music theory, which I also refreshed my music knowledge every time. The school is also a total lifesaver for busy schedules.
