Awful, awful experience. I had called merry maids and scheduled a deep clean for one of our rental properties that was just newly under construction so all appliances were brand new. I asked for a deep clean for the floors, bathrooms, and windows. They lied about how the amount of hours ( i left them a lockbox code) as i wasnt there myself but know because the office lady sent me photos that the cleaners sent time stamped. Mind you i provided all cleaning supplies, asked specifically to please steam my mattress ( was not done stain still on mattress and steamer unopened in box... everything was still dirty. And they charged me $577 for 3 hours then an additional $195 for and additional hour i did not authorize and another $165 which she said was a mistake!???? After sending hee the videos of my dirty house the first time she said the cleaners will be back monday today to re do things they missed .. they came today, my worker let them in. They stayed for 20 or 30 minutes to clean the kitchen cabinets... i came to the house now and saw dirt stains on my floors, walls, everything still the same. This is a scam of a company. TL;DR: Caution to use this company. They will not complete a job, and you WILL pay out the nose for it. IMO its a scam. The initial contact and scheduling was great. They are communicative, and no issues. When i first discussed cleaning our home, I asked for specific things done, and I got this response. "Based on the description of your home. 1194 sq ft 1.3/4-bathrooms, kitchen, floors? Floor) carpet, hardwood, tile or laminate? The initial cleaning is "deep" cleaning which is charge by the hour. We would clean all the surfaces, including sweeping and mopping the floors, all outside cabinets, drawers, sanitizing and deodorizing the bathrooms. In addition, we would clean all the windowsills, door frames, baseboards, cobwebs, light switches, and mirrors. Typically, the first cleaning can take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours (this is just estimate can be more can be less depending on the conditions) Our fee is $150.00 per hour for a team of two ladies. Plus, we provide all the cleaning supplies and equipment. We are fully Licensed. /Bonded/Insured Let us know if you would like an-in home estimate. Monday through Friday from 9:am to 4:pm" This tells me that irregardless it was 300+ to do a full home deep cleaning. I arranged it. They arrived, and they arrived on time and started immediately. At first i thought hey this is going to be great. Then it got worse. They spent 2 hours with a team of 2 people to clean 1 3/4 baths and a kitchen. They started to vacuum the living room but stopped, and half dusted the living room. After the 2 hours was up, they packed their things and ran. I tried to tell them hey, I understand it may take longer, i signed your form that says I will pay for extended time. Then was told they can't they have to move on. What they did clean was done ok i guess. they didn't touch the toilets. The kitchen floor looks ok. It feels clean. I spoke with the rep on the phone afterwards telling me that all i wanted was the bathrooms and the kitchen and refusing to admit to the email for The initial cleaning is "deep" cleaning which is charge by the hour. Just kept referring to what i stated originally when i was just trying to get a price. Then said they would come back then next day. She then just glossed over it and did not schedule anything. Once I was asked if I wanted to sign on routine contract cleaning and I refused, i was basically told ok thanks and they hung up. I am not happy, not impressed, and as far as I am concerned was scammed out of 300 bucks. Never will i use them again, and don't really want them back either. I will say that their Manager Veronica is very pleasant to speak with. One thing that did confuse me entirely. Their manager walked through the house giving me a tally of what was supposed to be done, and the sheet shows WAY more than what they did today, and for $275.00 which is less than the poor scam cleaning i got today. This was the WORST experience. $161 per hour with a 2hr block of time (Which is, you guessed it, over $300) for something I could've paid my boyfriend's 13 year old daughter to clean for $20. Someone moved out of a back room/add on in the house we rent and we wanted it deep cleaned. So, I called Merry Maids thinking they would be as professional as their website... ABSOLUTELY NOT! They showed up 2 hours late... and did not clean the room. The room is a completely empty room, tile floor and a half bath. After they left (the first time) they had neglected to clean the door... one woman came back to clean the door and then left. After further inspection, they did not even bother to clean the bathroom window! There are still spider webs and the floor has spots. Literally $300 for the WORST "cleaning" job I have ever seen, and now I'm out $300. The manager woman gave me 10% off. That is it. 10% off. I cannot believe it! Just. I am not one to typically leave bad reviews but this experience was awful. I requested an apartment cleaning service. I was told the hour service would start at 10:30 for $150. My card was then charged for $289 with no explanation. I texted Merry Maids and the costumer service gal at the office was very unhelpful. Instead of owning up to the poor communication, they continued to make excuses for the charge. Then, on the day of service the ladies were late so i texted and asked where they were. They didn't show. They were supposed to come the next day and once again, the service was cancelled. I asked for a refund (I have a credit card that shows refunds instantly on the website) and they claimed one was processing. I asked for a refund receipt and they continued to send me the transaction charge receipt 3x. It wasn't until I told them I had filed a claim with the credit card company and bank that they actually refunded me and send me a refund email. They told me the refund was processed around 8:10 am but on the email receipt they finally sent, it shows it wasn't processed until AFTER i informed them about the bank claim. So read the other bad reviews and do not hire merry maids!!!! My MIL passed and we had a last minute event at my home so I needed my kitchen and bathroom cleaned. I called Merry Maids. HUGE MISTAKE! I wasn't able to stay when they arrived 25 minutes late! So I left a list with my husband. When I came home I was expecting to see a shiny floor with shiny faucets and clean counters. Instead I came home to a floor that was partially swept? My counters had hair on it from the rags they used. No sparkly chrome on my sink. The grout on my bathroom floor still dirty. What did 2 Merry Maids do in the 2 hours they were here?! My husband even tipped them. So I get in touch with MM. The woman who answered said she needs to tell her boss. I explained I have pictures time stamped showing that what I asked to be cleaned wasn't done and that I cleaned my floor, which left the swifter dirty. I showed my kitchen floor which still had dirt on it, my bathroom floors which weren't touched. I ended up spending 2 hours of my time cleaning what Merry Maids were supposed to. The owner asked to have her ladies come back to do it right. I didn't want that, I wanted a refund. Which she was only willing to give me back $20. $20!!!! I paid $150 an hour a total of $305.00 which included a $5.00 credit card fee. I contested with my cc company and they still paid Merry Maids. I also didn't want them back as my husband and I are still grieving the loss of my MIL. I do not want people in my house. I didn't want to write a bad review. But after what I experienced I don't want anyone else to pay a lot of money for absolutely NOTHING! 1. Very expensive. $150 an hour. 2. Merry Maids we're 25 minutes late. No heads up. I called asking where they were. 3. Didn't do the job I asked for. I even left a list. 4. My options to correct the problem was a $20 credit or have the ladies back out. 5. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2018 - 47/100. The house is pretty much empty. The only thing it needs is some professional routine cleaning. The first place that popped in my head for this is Merry Maids, and with the above average ratings on reviews it got on Yelp, decided to go with them for the task! I called and spoke to Leonore. Saturday was my only day open, so I made a kind request to schedule them any time that day. She mentioned Saturdays are usually busy for them but luckily was able schedule cleaners to arrive between 1pm - 3pm. She will call the day before to confirm. As promised, she called the day before and was told she was able to move their arrival time up to 11am - 1pm. I was elated since that absolutely worked out better for me! She did make it clear that based on the size of the house as I described (3BD, 2BT, living room, family room, kitchen, small dining area, inside and outside windows), it would probably take at least 4 hours to get everything done at $125/hour. Their limited special got me a 10% discount, though, so that was pretty cool. Saturday rolls around. Off the bat my fault for getting to the house a couple of minutes past 11a, but there they were right on time! (Probably even earlier, so that's an awesome sign!) I met Elba and (for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the 2nd.) I let them in and showed them the layout of the house. They did affirm that it may take about 4 hours to complete the job. They did not waste any time - they got started immediately! I left after letting them in as I had a lot of errands to run for the day but told them I'd be back to check on them in a couple of hours. But before leaving, I asked if they could also clean the outside windows. They gave me their okay. I came back a little before 3pm to bring them some water and soda and found them dunzo not too long after. They did confirm they also cleaned the outside windows when I inquired about it. (I know, that's annoying, but it was important.) I took a good look around after they left and boy, did they do a good job! The entire house smelled fresh and clean. I was immediately impressed. I looked at the exterior of the house noticed the front windows clean. The side windows, however, were untouched. They remain covered with cobwebs, dust and dirt. I ended up cleaning those bits myself. Even more cool was Leonore (and Jay a day later) calling to do a follow up on the job the cleaners did. I mentioned my little issue with a few of the outside windows, but otherwise, I felt they did well. Pretty good experience for a first. What a great experience it is to come home to an immaculate and clean space after a tiring day at work. Smooth scheduling and quality work as always! I have been using Merry Maids for a year now to maintain the cleanliness of my Apartment in Buena Park once or twice a month and I can truly say that I'm happy with their service. My place was a constant mess before I tried and used them but now they make sure that it doesn't come to that point since the maids take care of that and leave my place so neat that it lasts for sometime! For 2 hrs, they are able to clean the parts of my apartment that need the most attention and I'm happy to let them take over my bathroom and kitchen cleaning. I love that their products and solution don't leave a strong smell! The maids are so courteous, fast, and most of all, efficient. I can entrust my place with them without having to micromanage them which is one of the most important reasons why I hire their company! They do an amazing job cleaning, sanitizing and polishing up the areas that I don't get to cover when I try to do things by myself! The price is so worth it because I get to work and hangout instead of spending all those hours cleaning! The work they do for a few hours is something I'd probably accomplish all day which takes away time for when I can either relax or continue my actual work. LOL. Writing a review because of the owner's response to my wife's review. Don't use these guys. They're not very thorough because they cheap out on the # of people they send to your house. They charged us over $50/hour per person who came out to our house. Despite the fact that our house is way too big for two people to clean, that's all they sent. So - $115/hour, or so. According to indeed.com, the average salary for their cleaners ranges from $9.53/hour for "team captain" (so, their regular cleaners get less than that) to $15.43 for Client Services (so, the person on the phone is probably getting almost double what the cleaner is getting). This is all you need to know. This is why the cleaning wasn't very good (well, this and the fact that they didn't think that $115/hour was enough to pay 4 $7-$10/hour employees) The ladies were very nice and accommodating and did an incredible job considering the time they had to work with. I would not recommend giving your money to a company who pockets that much $ on top of what they are paying their employees, though. It isn't right. The next time, we went with a different local company that charged less, sent over four people, and are fully licensed and bonded. Merry Maid's excuse that they have to pocket that much to be licensed is just not true. Please, unless you are in a rush, I would highly advise going with a different company. read more

This was a horrible experience. I was overcharged and underserved. They moved dust around but did not remove it. There were streaks on the leather love seat. They moved very slowly and had to stop every minutes to discuss things. I paid the bill and do not want to trust this company again. I'm writing this review after using both Merry Maids and then Marianna's. I wanted to wait to compare the price and service, and I would seriously advise you to stay away from this company. I was looking for a cleaning service on a very short notice so it was great that I could call on Saturday to have my house cleaned on a Monday. We have a large house that needs quite a bit of TLC so after speaking with Leonore on the phone she said she would send at least two people and the fee would be $115/hr. She did indeed send two people. For $115/hr. And by the attitudes of the women cleaning, I seriously doubt they are even getting paid $25/hr. I feel gross for hiring them. I was willing to pay the higher price because we really needed someone to come in, but I really should have thought it through. Two people can do a fairly decent job in 4 hours but it felt like they were pretty overwhelmed and only lightly cleaned the surfaces, and we were left with lots of water spots. They barely finished a quick vacuum. Marianna's on the other hand, charged $85/hr, they sent several ladies in to get it done faster, and seriously, they got into every nook and cranny. They dusted down the walls, made the beds up, and really scrubbed the baseboards in the kitchen. Our house was SPOTLESS. our house was twice as clean for $120 cheaper than what we paid Merry Maids. Oh. And someone actually came to our house to take a look at our house and assess our needs. And all the ladies were so friendly and pleasent. And a supervisor walked me through the house to make sure it was all to my liking. I wish I knew about the other company before calling Merry Maids. They may be fine for very small spaces, but most certainly not a 5,000 sq. ft. house. They were a rip off. In response to Veronica's comment below, Maianna's has been licensed and bonded since 1985. And they are insured. We did in fact have an issue on the door to our oven and they are covering the repair. So some of the things you are saying are simply not true. The women sent by Merry Maids were respectful and professional, they just seemed overwhelmed and a bit unhappy in general. Leonore only called once that day only to tell me the ladies were running late. I don't have any record of her calling during the cleaning and I'd she did, I would have said something. She called the following day and I did address my concerns. And she said the policy is to only send two cleaners not "at least two" which is what she said initially. I got what I got, I paid for it. My experience with this particular Merry Maids was a disaster. I paid near $500 and didn't even get my full house cleaned. "Time ran out" before they got to my kitchen, laundry room and 1/4 bath and they pretty much said sorry, we gotta go! I begged them to do my kitchen floor at least because the main reason I called was because I was in an accident and have only been able to do light cleaning. I paid for a deep cleaning which is why I was told it was so pricey. I paid about $50 for a sub-par moo job on the kitchen floor and the laundry room and 1/4 bath were left untouched. They broke my lamp in the living room while dusting and told me so at the time. I said it was ok. Things happen. After they left, I found my mater bedroom oak closets had been opened and closed oppositely and so they were jammed shut. I asked her not to open the closets because they are temperamental but either she didn't understand me, or didn't listen. I also noticed they pulled up the crown molding around the master bathroom floor while mopping. None of this was something I was going to make issue of even though others would. But the next day, as the sun shined in my kitchen window I saw scratches all over my stainless refrigerator and oven. As the sun moved I'd see more and more. Then I saw them on the microwave. Then I saw a chemical spill and the same scratches on the the stainless sink. All of my stainless appliances were ruined! A day later my Mother-in-law passed away and we got side tracked with funeral plans and family coming in from Ireland. So when she called me for an update, I was with family and I told her, "I have some issues to discuss with you but my mother-in-law passed and I am with family, I will have to get back to you". When we finally got in touch with owner she came out to look at the appliances. One woman was kind of blaming the other, denied breaking the lamp. When asked to try and remove chemical stain on sink she brought out a scratchy cloth (maybe what they used on all my stainless) but the owner caught it and told her to use a microfiber cloth thinking we did not notice this exchange. The conclusion was for us to see if we could find any solutions or way to repair and call her back. We found there really is none. Sure there are ways to fix one scratch but not like the many we now had. Sears could replace the oven face but that would be over $300. So when we told Leonore all of this she said she would have to turn it into her insurance company because her girls swear they didn't do it. They only use microfiber cloths and proper stainless chemicals. Well s totes since neither said that in my presence. Keep in mind we were not asking about the lamp, even though we had to go but TWO new lamps because you break one you need a new set. We were not asking for closet repair or floor board repair or any refund for the uncleaned rooms. The insurance inspector came out and he made note that our house was well taken care of and that he could see our stainless had been maintained by owners who knew how to care for it. In other words. There were not years of scratches on it. (They are 20 years old and aside from these scratches are immaculate. Regardless, when we got the final report it basically said it was their word against ours and they were not going to cover anything. We appealed it and got the same answer. Of course they are going to side with their client. Why would they want to pay me? Basically, I paid for my house to be 1/2 cleaned and thrashed. I was not even offered a partial refund. I don't know how they live with themselves! I have since learned that Amazon.com has cleaning services backed up wit Amazon guarantees that are 1/2 the cost and they stay until the job is done. Look it up before hiring the most expensive of all cleaning services. My mistake was thinking going with the most well known cleaning service was a win win! Paying a lot was going to worth it! My original review was a 5 star in December 2022, but when I had them come again in March 2023 for a "deep" cleaning. I had spoken to the owner after my December cleaning, I told her that I was not sure if I would be needing them again until the end March for a spring/Passover cleaning, including my oven. When I set up for the cleaning, I again reminded the lady in the office that I would need the oven cleaned and she said that was not a problem. When I got the confirming call the day before, I again reminded them I needed my oven cleaned. I had it set up for 9:00 a.m. and they arrived around 8:57 a.m. I again reminded the ladies when they arrived that I needed the oven cleaned and was told they were aware. I reminded them three more times during the just over 2 hours. To my surprise, when I checked the oven later on that day, I saw it was NOT cleaned. I then reached out to them by email to say what is going on. I also recevied an alert from my credit card company, that they had charged me the day before they came to clean for MORE then I was charged in December and then they charged my credit card AGAIN on the day of the cleaning for over a hundred dollars more. I did not hear back for 2 days. I explained the situation and questioned why I was being charged over $650. I was told it was because they were at my home for 4 hours and they cleaned the oven. I said NO they were not hear for 4 hours. They were here for about 3 because I was aware of the time since I had an appointment and left at the "4 hour mark" they claimed that they worked until. Plus I was being charged for the oven to be cleaned. I explained they lied about the time and cleaning the oven and that I was NEVER told that it was going to be extra. I FINALLY got a response on Sunday, literally 6 days LATER. I was told that she "boss" was out sick and she need to talk to the cleaning ladies and she had not seen them. Then the following day she sent me an email telling me that she asked about the oven cleaning and was told "oh I forgot". How do you forget when you are reminded so many times and 2 of the times you were standing in the kitchen at the time and promised that you would take care it. A week later they FINALLY gave me a refund for the $155 they charged me for the "oven cleaning" but still NO refund for the less time they were in my house. It is pretty funny that you worked an hour less and charged me more money to clean my house the 2nd time. When I said that I would report them to my credit card since I never signed the agreement/contract they claim that I did sign it. I only signed the ONE TIME one in December. I was not given anything in March. I did not even bother to mention to them that they broke the shower head in 2 of my bathrooms, since that would not go anywhere but now I had to go an purchase 2 new ones at over $100 each. They also broke an expensive figurine that was a gift and is a numbered addition when dusting. I will NEVER use them again. Very disappointed and I have learnt my lesson not to believe when you are told one thing and they never put it in writing. read more

****DO NOT USE MERRY MAIDS**** To summarize, they are unreliable, expensive, and the quality of their work is terrible! I scheduled the cleaning a week and a half in advance so that I could arrange for my dog to be at the groomer simultaneously (he is big and would be in their way). I made the appointment for 2:00 and the booking rep said that the best that they could do was to commit to arriving between 1:00PM-3:00PM. I informed them of the dog/groomer situation when I booked the appointment and she said they would call 20 minutes in advance to let me know that they were on their way. No big deal, I get that schedules can fluctuate - I booked the groomer at 2:00 so that they dog could stay till 6:00. We have a small apartment so at worst, allotting for cleaning from 3:00-6:00 was fine. The day of the appointment they called at 11:00 and said that they were on their way. I reminded them of the circumstances and the woman rudely said fine, I will let the cleaners know. A different woman then called two more times throughout the afternoon trying to reschedule for 4:00 PM I reminded her that I was paying for our dog to be out of the house during the hours that I had originally scheduled. She was nice about it and said "so sorry, we will make it work." At 3:30, still no cleaners. I called and she said that the cleaners were lost - which is strange because I have seen the "merry maids cars" at our apartment complex numerous times. They finally showed up shortly after 4:00, imagine that. I have tried various cleaning companies and I am accustomed to the spectrum of the quality of service that you can expect - and this was by far the worst quality of work that I have experienced. The picture frames and T.V.s were left covered in dust, the bathroom floor had not been touched, the towel racks are still filthy, and the shower floor somehow had clumps of dust and dirt scattered that weren't there prior to their arrival. To top it off, they charged me $170.00 - in addition to the $30.00 tip that we had left on the table, assuming that they would do a good job, despite the scheduling hassle. We hired Merry Maids and while they're not awful, they're not worth the cost and you'll end up cleaning quite a bit of the things they overlook yourself anyway. They performed an initial "deep clean" which ended up being an open-check kind of service rather than a fixed cost for a fixed service. In other words, they kept cleaning until we squeeked that the price was getting too high. We ended up paying $320 for that cleaning and while they did an OK job, they failed to adequately wash the walls and completely disregarded cleaning our 2nd bathroom, which was something I cleaned myself later that day. They came back a second time for our agreed-upon bi-weekly service ($115) and took care of cleaning the walls. And, they cleaned more of the 2nd bathroom...but not all of it. The sink was untouched, so that was something I cleaned myself upon my return home. Bottom line...they are more expensive than other vendors and just don't do the quality job that the price would suggest. I'm back to just doing it myself, as the best rated vendors have back-logs of work and can't accept new clients. Bummer...seems like there's a good business opportunity out there for someone. read more

I had my rental property in Long Beach cleaned by Merry Maids and had a superb experience with the company and their service. Veronica, the manager came out to give an estimated quote and was very friendly and knowledgeable about what they offer. I find it difficult to rely on other people to treat my belongings the same way I would. It was such a relief when I found a team of cleaners that took the time to know what was important to me. I would not recommend them at all. When I scheduled my appointment, I told them I needed it show ready. When the two ladies arrived late, I told them the same thing. I let them know they did not have to vacuum or mop my floor as I had someone else coming to steam clean them. I'm guessing they took that as approval to leave trash on the floor and muddy footprints on my hardwood floors. No windows were cleaned and only one of three sliding glass doors was cleaned. When I called to let the office know, she was rude, and said I should have inspected better. Maybe she's right, but when I pay a lot of money for a service, I expect it to be what I request. I was very pleased with my service. I was able to book an appointment just three days before I needed the service, and they were professional in explaining what the services included. There were two nice ladies who arrived within the time frame that was agreed upon when I made the appointment. They did a great job leaving my kitchen and bathroom feeling and looking so clean. I folded my clothes while they were doing the other rooms and everything was done efficiently. It is good quality service at a reasonable price at market standard for the area. I am a landlord, so when a tenant moves out and has not cleaned their place, I charge the tenant according to the quote I receive. Don't call Merry Maids out unless you want to be left holding the bag...and do not trust them to pay up when they happen to damage your property. I called them out four months ago to give me a quote on cleaning a one bedroom. A quote from any other vendor means that the vendor will provide the specified services for the amount quoted in writing. Merry Maids does not subscribe to this rule, as they quickly blew past the allotted hours in the quote...and since I was unwilling to pay more, they left certain things uncleaned...which I then had to clean myself. LAZY MAIDS The general manager performed the walk through and gave me the written quote. We walked through each room and looks at all aspects of the job. When the job had been completed, I noticed that one of my windows had been shattered from top to bottom, and the mirror on my bathroom door had been cracked. After alerting management about these damages, they quickly 'tore me a new one', saying that their maids would have reported any damage immediately if they had caused it. Management was nasty and defensive, not what I would expect from a reputable company. NASTY MAIDS If you are thinking about hiring these unscrupulous maids, please slap yourself! Run, you are about to make the wrong decision. If you want to be taken advantage of, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you in Nantucket. The only nice thing I have to say about Merry Maids is they're good at collecting your money. read more
