This is a nice little pizza joint. Lots of fun specialty pies (including a variety of smoked meat options, like pork and brisket), but the classics hit the spot quite well. Excellent balance of quality toppings, cheese, and sauce atop an airy but nicely chewy crust (also a thin crust option, but I haven't tried that). Limited but quite adequate beer selection to go with the typical soft drink lineup. Seating area isn't huge by any means, but there's a table area in the center that can hold a larger group pretty well. Service is friendly and helpful. Will definitely keep this in mind for future trips when a pizza craving hits. read more

This is a hole in the wall on Airport Drive that does not disappoint. Do not be a large group; they do not seat parties over eight during the summer. Luckily, we only had four and only had to wait 5 minutes for someone to leave. We ordered five cheese bread, lasagna pizza, pesto chicken, bacon chicken ranch, and a make-your-own with garlic sauce and crab. I do not like marinara sauce, but this is not your typical sauce! We were fighting over it by the end of the cheese bread. The flavor and crunch of the thin-crust pest chicken was a beautiful combination. The crab got a little lost in the garlic sauce and the crab Looks to be imitation crab. The hand-tossed crust is fantastic. Overall, if you are in Destin, make it a point to stop here! We were glad to discover this local pizza joint this trip. Love the slogan on the box - "Life's too short to eat corporate pizza." Lol. I was very happy w/ my Main St. Smoker pizza: smoked beef brisket, slow smoked pulled pork, & 6-hr smoked sausage, tangy BBQ sauce & topped with a variety of cheeses. Also, you get your very own, fun little squeeze bottle of tasty garlic sauce. Wife got a Greek pizza I believe, & was also happy. Oh, since they don't have unsweet tea we just got water until noticing a Yelp Check-in bonus of two free soft drinks. It was fast & easy to use though had to do Dr. Pepper since only Pepsi products. Server was very patient with our "1st timer deliberations & questions" and tended to us efficiently. The rest of my family had been the chicken bacon ranch club with the thin crust. They said it was amazing as well. We got the squeeze bottle of the garlic sauce they had and if you like garlic that stuff is the BOMB!! We have been a loyal customer of Merlin's for ten years. We go there at least two times a month. We always highly recommend their pizza. Until Now!! They have totally changed their menu and great service. We typically order a 14" hand tossed pizza half veggie and half sausage and pepperoni. We split it. That is not allowed. No more 1/2 and 1/2 pizza. Then they now start out with a Cheeze pizza and add an additional charge. That's no problem. Most stores are doing that. They charge more for each size increase. My wife ordered the ten inch veggie. She wanted to eliminate the spinach and replace it with another topping. The waiter told her that would be an additional charge. Seriously!! We ask to talk to the manager since that made no sense. Fifteen minutes later she came by and said he was too busy. Obviously, they are sooo busy. They don't need our business. We live in a condo with 164 other families. Word will spread. What a shame. New management doesn't care about their customers. There are other options in Destin. Thank God!! read more

Last year we didn't take the chance to visit the place voted best pizza by locals however, glad we did this time. It is adjacent to a liquor store just off Harbor Blvd. and there is private parking. It was a warm sunny Sunday, it was busy on the inside and we managed to get that last table that was open. It is very small on the inside with very few tables and booths. It does have that cozy local pizza place kinda feeling. Our server was pretty busy beings she was the only one in there so, we managed to take our time to browse the menu. When she was able to get to us another server came in and the crowd died down a little. We did get the 6 cheese breadsticks, my friend got a supreme pizza and I got a pepperoni pizza. We loved the 6 cheese breadsticks and the pizza was actually very good. My friend said the pizza was ok and I actually loved mine. As a pizza lover this is one of the best local pizza places in Destin. The dough was cooked just right. The sauce was perfect and portioned well, the cheese and pepp was mouthwatering.
