When you arrive there are a few different parking options including parallel parking, a parking lot across the street, or a parking garage underground. The coffee shop has a modern feel and is very nice. There were also several outlets if you need to work from this coffee shop for an extended period of time. I ordered the harvest spice latte which was good until getting to the bottom of the cup. Several of the spices had moved to the bottom of the drink. This area also has a lot going on, including a Trader Joe's being located across the parking lot. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely stop by for a cup of coffee. read more

Merit is very popular in Dallas, so expectations were high walking into this location--and visually, it delivers. Super cute space, great music, and a cool, relaxed ambiance that immediately makes you want to stay awhile. There were about a dozen seats total and it was roughly 80% full, which felt lively without being chaotic. The two girls behind the counter were absolute sunshine--warm, bubbly, and genuinely welcoming. That alone made the experience feel good from the start. Service was also lightning fast; my drink was ready in under two minutes. Now, the letdown: the matcha. They don't make actual matcha here. Instead, it's a pre-made mix that gets heated and combined with whole milk. For matcha lovers, this is... disappointing. The flavor was extremely bland--drinkable, sure, but uninspiring. I'd have it again only if there were no other options nearby. And that's the thing--this location is very close to the Civic Coffee area, which makes it hard not to recommend going there instead if matcha is your priority. All that said: great ambiance, pleasant experience, friendly staff, and moderate pricing. Nothing bad happened here at all. I love Merit! Best coffee in Texas in my opinion This location can be pretty busy since in a prime spot in Preston Hollow. Merit does have an app that lets you preorder to pick up coffee to avoid long lines. The team is quick and kind whenever I go in. They have a variety that of unique seasonal offerings- strawberry matcha being one of my favorites. Their coffee is always bursting with flavor and their lattes are creamy and rich. Even their cold brew is levels above most places in terms of flavor. The shop is near Trader Joe's, apartments and a bunch of apartments. Was nice for the Merit locations to be open on thanksgiving day from 8-12 noon, just enough time to get a good latte before meeting family. Solid coffee, standard milk options and alt milk options (including oat), a variety of pastries and snacks and friendly, knowledgeable baristas. Plenty of parking, too. I've been a customer of Merit Coffee for many years, starting in San Antonio when I used to make regular trips there for work. I've mostly been a bagged coffee customer, but over the last couple of years, I've really upped my personal coffee game at home with pourover and espresso gear, and I've come to appreciate the finer nuances of coffee. Lately, my quest has been to find places in Dallas where one can get a straight (or "neat") espresso that tastes great, and is served as though the shop regularly does this and has a proper service for it. Many places will kind of look at you funny and serve it in a paper cup, but Merit does it right. They have the standard espresso that's used in the milk drinks, plus a single origin "rotator" that they serve for straight espresso. I, of course, opted for this one, and was rewarded with a wonderful cup. It had a modest acidity, not too overpowering, and good, clear notes of fruit and brown sugar sweetness from the light medium roast. A cortado from the same bean, plus a little raw sugar, really brought out those tasting notes and made for a sweet and creamy delight in the glass. If you're in the shop soon after this review, the selection they had on this day was the Cesar X Clever from Peru. This is what I'd call a "top tier" coffee shop, especially in the Dallas area, where truly exceptional espresso service seems to be hard to find. Definitely check this place out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Merit coffee is a below average coffee shop. When I think of a coffee shop I think of a comfortable place to work with great coffee and pastries. This place has that comfortable element but coffee is below average (almost all their coffees are light roast) their matcha strawberry was a joke. And the service was pretty decent. There are two different types of coffee shops (1) coffee shops that serve great coffee and they have decent prices with comfortable spaces. (2) coffee shops that focus on branding and design with decent quality and marked up prices and this is what merit coffee is. 4.5/10 read more

Tried Merit for the first time this weekend and will definitely be back! The baristas were super friendly, and my drink was really good. I did order a 12oz, and received a 16oz, but it's not a big deal, just a little more milk than I would've wanted. The drink had just the right amount of sweetness though, and the espresso shined. I took my drink to-go, but I want to come back and sit inside for a while! It seems like a little social hub and a great place to hang with friends or get some work done. Before writing this level of review, I like to visit several times. In this case, I've visited over thirty at least. What they do well are the food offerings and co-marketing of locally baked goods both sweet and savory. The company has dialed in their "chill" socializing branded vibe. It's a place to try a nice speciality coffee. However, it's not an independent founder culture driven place. The proof is in the coffee and service. Nery a time have I ordered a baked good that wasn't left on behind the counter for 5-20 minutes before a high-school-looking-aged kid remembered "sorry, dude". However, what I cannot get over is the stalted growth around espresso based drinks. Inconsistent at every location. One barista says Long Black is not on the menu, but it is available sometimes and another says never heard of it. One says we have presets and only do espresso single or double and then another pulls a great Lungo only to be told by a manager next visit we cannot do that, "next in line." I've given up on anything but a cup (fingers crossed) of coffee. The company wants to be an assembly line and push volume over experience and I'm not mad about it but coffee purveyors should be aware and not waste their time seeking an elevated experience. read more

The prices are fair compared to what you might spend at a Starbucks. My Golden Mlyk Latte with Oat milk cost me about $7. There is a $1 upcharge for milk substitutes. Currently, there are no resident discounts like the other surrounding businesses; however, you can sign up for a rewards program. The staff were very welcoming and shared more insight about Merit as this was the first time hearing about it. MIL & I love the vanilla latte-- switching to oat milk from the regular milk that they use-- (makes it richer & creamier), and adding cinnamon. Just don't go here if you're in a hurry. It takes a little time for them to make it, and so far it has always been crowded or had a short line of people waiting every time I've gone in, which meant about a 15-minute wait once when I was otw to work. They have a rewards system that gives points towards the occasional free coffee, but those points expire a bit too fast for my taste... Tried the golden milk too one time. It was just fine. All bagged coffee beans are light to medium-light roasts-- no dark. I actually like that since I enjoy the true flavor of a bean when it's not over-roasted.
