A lovely little cafe within walking distance of Highland Park HS. I had an iced latte (2 shots, but you get a third shot for free should you need one) with whole milk. I've been a fan of LDU since their first location on Fitzhugh and they are serving some of the best valued coffee in Dallas. - Atmosphere: It's called LDU Coffee To Go for a reason! This location is long and narrow with space for a line on one side and a large bench for seating on the other. While it's small, people do sit around to chat. There is parking out front, but it can be tight so sometimes it's easier to park a little further away. - Service: When I was sitting on the bench waiting for my coffee, a server came up to me and delivered it, even though it's coffee to go. LDU adds that nice extra touch! - Coffee and Value: I am no coffee expert, but the experts love LDU. For $4 you can get a delicious hot latte with flavored syrup. It's less than a dollar extra to sub alternative milk. I don't know anywhere else serving such a high quality, custom latte for that price! Last time at LDU Preston location. I work nearby and this is my go to coffee spot but after today i am done! Horrible service by the girl in long braids warm skin tone with a curt manner. When i asked for a remake i felt dismissed and irrational. I ordered an iced vanilla matcha and received milk with vanilla instead. When i normally spend 7$, i spent about $20 because she made me purchase new drinks that kept coming out wrong and didn't taste like they normally do. If on the hunt for good espresso, look no further. Smooth and bold flavor without being burnt or tangy. Great service too, was hand delivered my coffee. Ordered an americano, not watered down, felt the perfect caffeine effect from it as well. Ambiance reminded me of those natural coffee filters maybe it's the way the menu was written and posted in the store or even the color scheme, but that's how I'd describe it. The LDU by me offers dim to natural lighting throughout the store, modern tables and benches/seats available. Seems to be very popular on the weekends, probably not the best time to go do work there, but during the week, seems like a great spot if you work virtually. This review is long overdue given that we had a great first time experience. After making an early morning trek to the airport to pick up family, we stopped off at LDU to get some coffee to wake us up lol. LDU did not disappoint! It was POURING down raining outside, but it kind of suited the vibe of of the place. I ordered an oat milk latte and my mom got a cortado. A quaint coffee shop tucked between stores on Preston Rd that makes me feel like you're about to step into a 90's movie coffeehouse, when coffeehouses in the US were emerging - it just has such a special vibe. This is one of those places you don't tell anyone else about so you can keep it all to yourself. Small place with limited tables sets a specific cafe experience. Low lighting, High ceilings, narrow walls and open space give a "chill" place to hang out. The man at the counter was the most delightful person I've met in a long time. He seemed genuinely happy to see people but we weren't the only ones there. Stayed for 10 minutes and about 5 people made their ways in. The espresso was good be the best I've had. The banana bread tasted and felt like it was sautéed in butter right before serving. Had that crust on it. Grabbed some coffee beans while I was there.
