Weird experience. They are bossy about where you stand to wait when there is nobody in the line, but then stand around talking instead of making your coffee. So then you have to wait longer... Coffee is fine but it's a little pricey. Go to Civil Pour in the same center instead, there is a reason Civil Pour is packed and Houndstooth is empty. read more

I hadn't tried this Houndstooth location yet, and I'm pleased to report that my visit was delightful. The building is in an interesting divided space - you can order on one side, walk to an outdoor patio, and then there's a second storefront with seating. The baristas here were so thoughtful and kind! I purchased a bag of "Tweed" roasted coffee beans - they asked if I needed the beans ground, and comped us a large hot coffee. I ordered a hot cocoa for my kiddo and they smartly added a little cool milk so it wasn't piping hot. The chocolate glazed donuts were sweet with a heavy dose of cinnamon. I ordered a flat white which was creamy and pleasantly bitter. The weather was nice, so we nabbed a picnic table on the patio. The red yucca was in bloom and we enjoyed people watching, lots of folks were making their way to yoga and rock climbing classes next door. One of the Best coffees I have had. Iced Vanilla Oat Milk Coffee was $7.38. No price postings anywhere that I saw . I was not really paying attention to them make it but my sister described it as they kinda just swirled the syrup and everything and gave it to us, which made sense since the bottom was more sweet then the top. Came here on a Saturday morning when it was slow. I ordered a black iced tea and it was okay, it didn't taste as strong as I anticipated. Really cool interior concept and I liked that it had 2 buildings. The music was pretty loud though, it was really hard to hear my friend even though we were sitting across from each other. While in uptown and downtown, independent coffeeshops are fairly ubiquitous, you really can only find Starbucks and the Whole Foods Allegro coffee anywhere north of uptown until you get into central Plano. The addition of a Houndstooth location to the area, an independent coffeeshop based in Austin with locations around Dallas, is a huge reprieve. Serving coffee and espresso using TWEED coffee beans and Moreish donuts along with other pastries, Houndstooth has it all. This location is in a wooden "treehouse" structure, in two rooms just off the northbound US-75 frontage road (northeast corner 75 and walnut hill). One room is the coffee bar and some bar-style seating options, while the other, quieter, room has built in desks for the laptop-ers. Decently priced, and with all the alternative milks you'd expect, definitely make this your coffee stop in North Dallas. read more

We came to this place on a Saturday morning after living nearby for over a year. With the great reviews, we decided we had to try it so decided to stop by around 10am. To be honest, I don't understand the reviews. The staff was friendly however everything after that was awful. We paid $9 something for 2 cold brew coffees that came out of a jug in the fridge looking like iced tea. Then, 1/3 of the cup was ice. I got mine with oat milk which I'm not sure made any difference at all. Maybe it's on me for the way I ordered but regardless, I can get much better coffee for the same price a few shops down at Civil Pour. We're glad we tried it just to know, but the coffee went into the trash after 1 sip and was a waste. Unfortunately I don't think we will ever try again. read more

The coffee shop is in what are essentially two tiny houses designed by Lake Flato, an Austin/San Antonio company that specializes in sustainable architecture. It has a cute center courtyard--and it's all powered by solar energy! In the courtyard there is a large sign with my favorite words, yup you guessed it! C O F F E E!!!! Which is great for photo ops! In addition to being the first Texas coffee shop equipped with a Mavam espresso machine, I highly recommend this place! The baristas are very sweet and they know the art of a latte! I usually love coming to Houndstooth and usually have a great experience but I came in at 4:50 at this location and apologized for coming in 10 min till close and got the easiest drinks possible. We always have consistently good experiences here. Prices are a little steep but the coffee is always good. I am usually slightly disappointed in their speciality or featured beverages, as they cost a dollar or two more but are not, to my palate, worth it. What's REALLY good about this place though is their straight up house coffee. It is really freaking good! And is probably what I'd get anytime I come in. My first experience was good! I do wish that they had some sort of indoor seating available right now. All seating is currently in their beautiful outdoor space so it doesn't hurt, but when temps are crazy hot right now in here in TX it would have been nice to be inside their secondary indoor space. They are on top of their social distancing game though! They have door meant specifically for entering and exiting and have squares for people to stand in when they are waiting placing an order, and then one for when they are waiting for their drink. Just went there (for the second time ever) to pickup two cold brews I had ordered online. Nice system they have, quick and easy. My regular coffee shop near my house doesn't put ice in the cold brew so I didn't know they have ice in their cold brew. Staff was wonderful to pour me two new cups, even though it was my mistake! Didn't get their names but the nice person with pink hair helped me out even though it was a frustrating situation. Would come again! read more

I tried this coffee shop last week, it was quite unique. On the left side of the building is coffee and on the right side are seats and the restrooms, separated by a small courtyard with picnic tables. The baristas were very helpful and friendly, made really good recommendations. The atmosphere on the coffee side is great, the menu has a good variety of flavors, good music, and I was doing some studying. I tried to go to the right side of the building, but the tables are a bit awkward. The benches on the perimeter of the room allow for lots of seating, but the "desks" are quite small, and I didn't want to do a balance act with my laptop, so I returned to the coffee side. read more
