He apologized, more than once, for the incorrect information that was given to me and was truly appreciative for my patronage to the business. There was a response, supposedly from the owner, that expressed regret for my experience and even noted that what happened should not have happened the way it did. They asked that I contact them. I have made contact multiple times in person and via phone call and was told the owner was not in and they would relay my message to contact me. I was even told today that the owener would be in later and they would give him the message. As of 5:46p.m., I have yet to receive a phone call. I am 74 now. Most of my life, I've done my own washing and ironing of my clothes . Why ?. Because I never found a cleaner who could do my dress shirts, khaki pants , and golf clothes better than me . I don't even let my wife touch my clothes. My grandmother from Eastern Europe taught me before I went to then CBC college here in Memphis . Now, I let Mercury do them . I've used this cleaners before and had an issue with new shirt but decided to let them redeem themselves...didn't happen. So I needed my Pottery Barn (Silk/Cotton mix) comforter/coverlet cleaned. When I walked in I said let me take a few pictures first. The lady at the counter proceeded with " we clean it according to the label and if anything happens to it we're not responsible." Say what now!!?! I said, "that doesn't make me felt comfortable." I've been coming here for two years and I remember there being a few small things over the years I could overlook as there are few recommended dry cleaners/alteration places downtown but today was the last straw. I had a new, pretty expensive dress altered. I brought it in clean and picked up this afternoon and noticed marks. When I asked about it, the owner says "yea that looks like ink unfortunately." I said I brought it in clean and the marks looked like it was on purpose. The owner agreed and continued to charge me for the alteration, suggesting I got get "the marks removed by a seamstress since its brand new." I'm sorry, what? Terrible customer service. read more

Dropped off three 100% cotton Pottery Barn white curtain panels that were stained with mud on the bottom after getting our house power washed. Yay for wooden window frames. The curtains were apparently soaked for days, and came back to us with new stains on the TOP of the curtains, AND three inches shorter. They are now floating significantly higher than the rest of our panels and need to be replaced. I called and was told they clean according to the label (which says not to soak, but whatever) and that they're not responsible for damages. Basically, we paid to get $300 worth of curtains returned to us shrunken and still dirty. Throwing them in the street and backing over them with my car would have been better than taking them here. They'd be dirty but at least they wouldn't be shrunken. I'd rather do that than return to this place ever again. read more

When I recently bought a house here in Memphis, Mercury Valet sent me a nice welcome-to-the-'hood note and a $25 gift certificate. Shortly thereafter, my dog puked on my comforter, so naturally I brought it in. And they wouldn't honor the gift certificate! "Sorry ma'am, this is just for regular dry cleaning, you know, clothing items." I don't much care about 25 bucks, but soooo not the way to work if you're trying to win the loyalty of new customers. Be very careful about doing business with these thieves... Don't be fooled by the UT discount as I did. They destroyed my wife's pants and instead of apology or remedy, insulted us... unprofessional,rude and unaccountable staff and manager. The worker applied bleach liquid to remove stains and it apparently damaged the color. First the staff admitted the fault and ask about the price to compensate. The second date I came back to get the check, they totally denied the whole situation and told me it existed beforehand!! Moreover, started to insulting and threatening to call police if I don't accept the damaged pant and leave. This is the way they behave customers and a UT physician. read more

This is the only place I will take my dry cleaning! They always do a wonderful job and it is cheap. Not only that, they offer free cleaning of American Flags. I've also had 2 suits altered here. The women that do it are professional and the alterations are quick and inexpensive. Mercury Valet is also involved in a lot of charities. I avoid dry cleaners because I have this silly fear that I'll drop off my beloved clothes to be cleaned and never see them again. I mean, I know that probably rarely happens, but weird stuff happens to me all the time! If only one person's shirt was ruined in a freak dry cleaning mishap, it would probably be mine. And it would probably be my very favorite shirt in the whole wide world. Well... there are times you just have to face your fears. Like, when your favorite (dry clean only) silk shirt is just hanging in the closet looking unkempt and sad. I turned to Yelp for recommendations. Mercury Valet is close to my house so I brought them two silk shirts. To my surprise, I was told they would be ready the next day. I left a vest to be altered by taking in two straight seams - a five-minute job at most. The clerk said to come back in two days. Here I am and they cannot find it. The explanations: "It's in a big pile of clothes. We're looking for it. It's in the machine to be dry cleaned (I didn't ask for and didn't want it cleaned). We found it. We're still looking. Not only do they do an amazing job they are absolutely affordable! I've gotten several items dry cleaned there now, so I am confident in giving them 5 stars! I recently had my winter pea coat dry cleaned which was absolutely filthy (lint, dusty etc.- basically it was embarrassing). When I went to pick it up however, it literally looked like a new coat! This place is just up the street from me, so it's my go-to spot for dry cleaning and minor alterations. They do very nice work, are reasonably priced, and even send 2 for 1 coupons in the mail. The people that work there are super nice -- when I was trying to track down a pair of my boyfriend's pants (still MIA, don't ask), they were happy to check their records for me, and even figured out that I had never picked up a couple of shirts (from 2 months prior, shhhh). I took my anthropology quilt here because I read the great reviews and great prices they offered. My quilt is white and it was beginning to look dirty and yellow so they did a great job on making it look white again. But they also ruined it. My quilt featured a ruched style. I asked them to make sure before if this would be ok to dry clean and they said yes but it ended up looking cheap and destroying the ruched ruffle areas I had. I'm very disappointed. I wish I would've never taken it here and I wish I would've just lived with a dirty quilt at this point. I'm really annoyed because anthropology quilts are expensive. I would give 0 stars here if I could. I got two suits and a coat dry cleaned. First time they did it, the solution they used had a terrible odor afterwards on all my clothes. It was so bad that I had to throw out my coat. The manager wouldn't let me get a refund when I brought the clothes back and after I had said it would be the same mistake, she was extremely rude and demanded I give her my last name to redo the dry cleaning. I got it back the next day and one of my suits was ruined. It had pressed lines all over the pants and the blazer on an over $200 suit. They wouldn't take any fault for it nor would give me my money back until I demanded it back. I went to another dry cleaners after to get it fixed and they're not even sure if they'll be able to get the lines out. This is a TERRIBLE establishment that does not know how to do their job. I dropped off several special costume pieces from a local theatre group on Monday. We discussed the careful requirements needed to protect the clothes and the sequins and rhinestones that were on the costumes. I also communicated several times that I needed them done by today because I was going out of town for several weeks and had to have my costumes back into storage before I left. They assured me it would be no problem and I could pick them up today after 4pm. So, I get there at 4:30 and they can't find the costumes. They can't find any ticket or anything that proved I dropped them off. It seemed that they didn't believe me that I really dropped them off. After about a half hour I asked them to look for the black trash bag that I used to drop them off and we found them - still in the bag - still not cleaned. I asked if they were going to make it right for me by giving me a huge discount if I left the costume there again they said they had no way to do that. I left in a huff and will NEVER use Mercury Valet again. They lost not only the business of this theatre company but the business of every theatre company in Memphis when I am the one to choose where we go. read more
