Owners Gary and Jessica Hennessy are fantastic and it's a mantra that extends down to every one of their employees. I was having a newly purchased condo renovated and the lease on my existing living space was expiring. Mercury Moving was hired to pack and store everything from my apartment in Boston. It was then trucked down to Avon, where it remained for three months, before it was unpacked at my new condo in downtown Boston. Over the three-month span I stopped by on two occasions to (1) drop off my newly purchased appliances and (2) pick up a few items that needed to be installed by my contractors. Both Jessica and Gary were extremely accommodating, even going so far as to coordinate scheduling late on a Saturday afternoon from their cell phones for a first-thing Monday morning pick-up. It was a level of customer service that one does not find easily. The move out and in were anything but seamless. Both involved navigating narrow stairwells into second floor living spaces with large items including a king size sofa, refrigerator, stove, and queen size bed. The crew of three showed incredible patience, resolve and commitment to ensuring that everything was moved in safely and without damage. Getting the couch out of my first living space took them 45 minutes, but they managed to successfully remove it after trying multiple approaches. The determination and pride to achieve success made me feel like a valued customer; someone that they did not want to disappoint. The move into my new space was equally as daunting. It required taking the aforementioned couch and newly purchased refrigerator up through the second story exterior window; neither would fit through the stairwell and into the condo. The refrigerator took well over 90 minutes alone. I would recommend Mercury Moving without reserve and will definitely use them again. I would encourage anyone in the greater Boston area to hire them as well. Don't even consider any other movers in the Boston area. When setting up a move, Garry or Jessica (or both) are there to ensure all goes well. This is not a franchise moving company where you don't know what you will get. A friend recommended them to me based off her excellent experience (and I know she researched all moving companies in the area before choosing them herself). They moved my family (a full house move), they moved my parents (another full house move) and also helped me with a smaller move of furniture from a vacation home. All three moving experiences exceeded my expectations. They were on time, organized, careful and very professional. The guys doing the moving were long time employees, who were clearly well trained and took pride in their work. They don't just hire anyone, and they make sure all their employees represent the company well. Any time I had a question (moving is complicated and things come up), Garry or Jessica got right back to me. We had to deal with a snowstorm hitting the day of one of the big moves. Garry called me two days ahead when the storm looked like a sure thing. He gave me the option I staying on schedule or moving it up a day (yikes - was nowhere near packed). We took the earlier option and packed while they moved us. They were so understanding since we were going earlier than planned. They helped with so many extras just to ensure things still went smoothly, and despite the earlier timeframe it went incredibly well. Everything was packed with care and arrived safely at the new house. My parents had them do 100% of the packing for them, and that worked out incredibly well. Garry was on site in person for both of the big moves, which says a lot. I would not hesitate to call them again, and highly recommend them. Worth every penny, I will never U-Haul it again! I recently used Mercury for a move from the North End to their storage facilities. I picked Mercury over their competitors for a few reasons: - Communication - Mercury actually answers their phone when you call and they respond to emails. There might not be a wizard to calculate how much your move costs, but that is because a human being actually thinks about it. A human with extensive experience in how your move is different than the ones before it. - Pricing - As an added benefit, they have some of the best pricing in the market for an established company. You might find two guys with a truck offering you a better price, but Mercury comes with all the extras. Like how to properly wrap and pack a floor mirror, that weird lamp, or unscrewing the bracket that is above your reach. - Quality - They wrapped my Ikea purchases with the same care of my big wall mirror. It was impressive to watch them pack efficiently and with great care for everything. There are no newbies here - just experts. - Staff - Everyone I have worked with is very nice, timely, and professional. In the spirit of disclosure, this is my 5th move with Mercury over the span of 11 years (2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2015). Over those years, my little sister and family members have hired them regularly as well. At my most recent move, Melvin and Santiago recognized me from prior moves... and remembered that my mom had given them fresh chicken eggs over the summer when they helped her. I'm almost positive there is no fancy CRM system helping them remember those facts. They remembered because they are all cordial, polite, and genuine people who care about the customers they work with. read more

We used Mercury Movers for a local move within Brookline on August 31, one of the busiest moving days of the year. Our schedule got messed up by the realtor and we had to delay the time of the move by several hours. Garry was extremely cooperative and patient, willing to consider options that would make the move work out for us. His moving men were pleasant and polite, and took the time needed to handle everything carefully, wrap all the furniture, and ended up staying late to finish the job. I liked the fact that Garry was very thorough. He considered all factors, such as parking issues and potential delays. Unlike the other movers we spoke with, he asked a lot of questions about exactly what we'd be moving and gave an educated and sensible estimate based on experience and real information. They also sent us a lot of information about how to pack and prepare for the move and, in the end, the cost even came in a bit under the estimate. I have moved 3 times in the last 10 years and wanted to try a new moving company...so I took a chance on Mercury Movers. Santiago, Jose and Melvin were outstanding! They arrived on-time, were very polite and extremely careful with every single item! We walked around and did an initial inventory, I made a few comments about some items, and Santiago listened... :) What a treat! It was a long day but they made it sooo worry-free. I have never been so relaxed about a move before. I would be remiss if I did not also mention how prompt Jessica replied to my initial quote request...and how easy she was to work with via e-mail, even checking alternative move dates. I have had the pleasure of using with Mercury Moving for several moves over the years. They have moved me three times in all through out the city of Boston. It has taken me a while to finally get a review up, which is too bad, because they deserve a ton of business. The guys that work for Jessica and Gary Hennessy (the owners) have all been there since my first move in 2004. They are polite, cautious, and hard working. I am an artist with a LOT of fragile art work. I have never even had a scratch on these precious items. Nothing is ever out of place and they will box up and prep EVERYTHING you own without a complaint. It's a rare find in the world of customer service that from the owners down to the little guys, you get a great attitude and pride in the work people are doing. Mercury is reasonably priced and very professional. They even took my old mattress away for a small fee. Who wants to deal with that kind of pain?
