This place gives you small town retro diner vibes. Very unique ! I'm happy to make my 1st ever post of the Mercury Cafe & Grill. I ordered a Patty Melt with fries ($19.50). I will admit, I was a little surprised to find that my burger didn't come between a sliced bun but rather between two pieces of toast. My dumb ass didn't read the entire description This meal consisted of their homemade beef patty, with Swiss cheese and fried onions. At first bite, you can TASTE that it's a home made patty. I'm impressed. Even their Swiss cheese was good quality. It was perfectly cooked to the point I was literally pulling melted cheese with every bite. Then to add onto it, you get home cut fries tossed in seasoning salt. The ONLY gripe I had was the price. I personally feel it's expensive for what you get. The service was not as attentive as I would have liked but when we interacted with staff it was very pleasant. I should point out, we were 1 of about 10 tables between 2 waitresses and 1 busser. But honestly, I highly recommend this establishment. I wouldn't order a burger patty between toast again, but you can guarantee I'll be back for a burger patty between a sliced bun. read more

Classic diner breakfast. Two eggs, choice of meat, toast, hashbrowns, and coffee/tea for $8.99 on weekdays. A few things are different. The hashbrowns are actually thinly sliced potatoes that are deep fried into chips. I asked for something different and they were able to replace them with fries. This place looks like a classic diner with red booths and old signs all over the walls. It has free street parking and I didn't see any private parking lot available. The weekend rates are much higher and they don't include coffee/tea so just be aware when you go on a Sat/Sun. read more

My wife and I dropped in on a Saturday night at 7pm an hour Before close, hungry and looking forward to trying this diner. While we waited to be seated as per the sign at the front, the only person behind the counter never looked up from their phone as we waited there for 5 minutes. We left with the person leaning against the cooler with his or her hoody up and quite nice long dark hair dangling, never even rose their head until we were back in our car across the street at Safeway. The food might be good but the service staff get a fail for this shift. Will I return .... probably but during the day. Went there for lunch, there were three workers I could see while waiting. One was taking a customer order another was refilling the ketchup and one was standing there chatting to the lady filling the ketchup. I made eye contact with the lady doing nothing and smiled indicating that we were ready. She just looked away and continued with her conversation. After standing there for 5 minutes and seeing that the woman wasn't doing anything. We decided to start getting ready to leave after seeing this, thats when she decided we were worth her time. Stopped in for breakfast. I had the Tofu Scramble and my companion had the the regular scramble (with eggs, obviously). They both came with toast and were made with peppers and onions and topped with grated cheddar cheese. Absolutely fine and the service was good too. The coffee was drinkable. When my ex and I were together, we noticed that the Mercury Cafe popped up on 13th and we went there for lunch one day. Best. Lunch. Date. Ever. We ordered a Mercury Burger and Milkshake each and we were lucky to finish it! (The waiters/cooks were even holding bets if we'd finish or not). The Mercury Burger itself is about 1 lb of food, the fries are about 1 lb. Every aspect was handmade (fresh cut fries, handmade burger patties) and the milkshake was HUGE! It comes in the mixing cup and it's about a liter of milkshake (fresh vanilla or chocolate powder added, fresh strawberry juice added)! Everything was AMAZING there. Last time I went there, the Mercury Burger was about $14 (it's a huge freaking portion for $14!) and a milkshake was $5 (you honestly don't believe you'll get that much milkshake for that money though...). read more

I am puzzled why this restaurant is always busy, particularly on the weekend. The food is average diner fare and the service is slow, slow, slow. I have waited for 30 minutes for a server to take an order and this was at 9:00 a.m. on a weekday. Much better choices are available for breakfast in Regina. read more
