My son wrote about this place for a french language project at his 7th Grade school in Brooklyn. It makes quite an impression. When we visited in early April, they were setting up a full camp site on the ground floor, including tents and sleeping bags. Love this place! It's sort of like a French Anthropologie with cute housewares, clothing etc. great place to buy gifts for friends and (apparently it's a thing) make sure you get a photo with the red fiat in the courtyard. They also have a very loungy cafe as well. Fun place! read more

Food is excellent and fresh though selection is pretty limited. If you like ginger absolutely try their citronade maison. The wait for a table can be a bit long around lunch time but once you're seated they'll serve you pretty fast. The place is gorgeous and the atmosphere certainly makes up for that one little inconvenient. The store is great and sells just about anything from beautiful clothes and accessories to home decor stuff, notebooks and books. read more

This review is for their cafe. This is one of the best coffee shops I went to in Paris. Their coffees and pastries were great, they didn't mind that my friend and I brought our laptops to do work there, and the ambiance is trendy without being obnoxious. Although I consider myself an individual immune to the tacky and disagreeable business of marketing and consumerism, my heart did an atavistic flip flop in my chest as soon as I walked through the door. Sooo many nice things! Floors of nice things!! And criminally expensive nice things! But - also moderately priced and sensible nice things as well! The store itself was spacious and airy, and immediately upon entering I was faced with a table display with all sorts of items related to how hilarious and cool moustaches are; fake moustaches, moustache prints, etc., perhaps to remind the customer that this is a place that doesn't take itself too seriously, or more likely, because moustache mania has afflicted the world at the moment and every opportunity must be taken to bleed this trend dry. Still, moustaches ARE awesome, so not entirely annoying. I reminded myself to pick up a 'Notfall Lippenbart' (emergency moustache) on my way out. I headed directly up the stairs to the women's apparel and accessories. I have to say, that although it necessarily leaned towards the expensive, there was ample apparel on the sales rack that was lovely and decently priced; a pair of fun silk pajama shorties for 20 euros, some cool chamula huerachas in taupe leather for 75 euro. You could definitely devastate your finances here, but you could also pick up something unique and nice if you're of the more frugal set. I cruised the furniture section briefly, it all appeared very tasteful and quietly elegant (low sofas in neutral linen slip covers, those side table thingies that look like rough-hewn tree stumps) and then I hit the linens. One could seriously do some damage here. They have a good selection of cotton linens, but their line of flax bed linens must be really seen (and touched of course). Although mostly neutral grays and beiges, there were also pops of color - a really fresh citron, blue green, a vivid orange-red reminiscent of summer in Spain (not that I've ever been to Spain). I wanted it all, and if I had any less restraint I would have been escorted from the store for rubbing it all over my naked body. To be sure, the linen linens were pricey - 160 euros for a twin size duvet cover - but considering it is all 100% linen, I don't find the prices to be outrageous. On the ground floor there was kitchenware and gardening items, most of it decently priced and well-made. I picked up a trio of vegetable peelers from a company called 'Malle w. Trousseau,' and a quick internet search reveals that this company doesn't actually make the peelers, but is devoted to sourcing nice things for you to put in your kitchen, and the peelers themselves are made by a Swiss outfit. I'm sure there was a markup somewhere there, but still, I haven't the time or faculties to figure out where I should buy high quality classic vegetable peelers, so 30 euros for three didn't seem like such a bad deal (oh the lies we tell ourselves). I could have dwelled longer, but I had a train to catch. The only moment of unpleasantness was dealing with the cashier. She was chatting with a colleague and didn't even look me in the face, shoving my wares into my bag and basically thrusting it my direction as if it were a sack of soiled laundry after I paid. I was so taken aback I forgot to buy my Notfall Lippenbart. I didn't get a chance to eat at the café or coffee shop, and I only took a quick look at the book area (there seemed to be a decent collection of used books in English, although I imagine there are better places to have a coffee and find a book in Paris). I would definitely come back again were I to visit Paris, but probably not on a weekend where I can only imagine you would have to fight throngs of people waiting to get their moustaches groomed in the barber shop, or swooning amongst the linen bedding. Cutest little place I've been to for brunch! Coffee is GREAT here. I had a traditional French breakfast. This place is swarming with people coming in and out and despite that, our server was prompt in providing my friend and I seating. We stayed for hours post brunch to study and get work done and they were totally cool with that also. It's a cute little brunch/coffee shop with shelving throughout the room with piles of books everywhere. I do wish they had more variety in brunch options. I'll definitely go back for the coffee. Merci is attached to a (overwhelmingly expensive) clothing and furniture store. Design is the cool thing nowadays so that's the central focus on the boutique! I think what I liked the most about Merci is that you could spend a lot of time exploring the store. There are lots of photo-worthy items, interesting art, and things to examine. I'm so over the whole concept -concept that made Colette fun when Colette was unique. These days the question is on which Parisian block can you not find a concept store? Merci is a sprawling, multi-level space with a bunch of nothing that can be fun to look at but pointless to buy. I did find some treats in the menswear section, such as Comme des Garçons acrylic sweaters. I suppose if you are nearby and have some time to kill this might be fun to experience, but I would not go out of the way to come here. read more

"It's kind of a hipster paradise," was my friend's apology when we a walked in. I would simply call it paradise. After a lovely lunch at their café next door, we meandered over to browse. The plant area alone, with high ceilings and beautiful light, is worth the trip. The clothes are beautiful, falling decidedly above my price range, but I came for daydreaming and inspiration. I ended up leaving with a beautiful cotton towel and the desire to come back many times. To top it off, we had coffee in the book area/café connected to the main store before leaving. Very cute ambiance! for a relaxing day or a bit of shopping treat yourself to the MERCI experience.. you can read a book and have a delicious coffee at the "used book cafe" (on the right side, enter through boutique).. Coffees and pastries are bit pricier than usual "Parisian prices", but worth the splurge.. There's a restaurant next door (have yet to try), a boutique and home shop items on lower level.. there's a small cafe downstairs as well. It has been a rainy day in Paris so we decided to venture to Merci to check out the buzz. The store is lovely but the design concepts being showcased we're too taken with themselves to be taken too seriously by casual window lickers. Nice but no mindblowers in the house. The layout and design of the store itself contains the most impressive design on view, but it's worth a stop in for that alone. The courtyard, the precious Fiat, the hilarious marble/slide bench-after that intro, who could take the place too seriously and feel forced to drink the design kool-aid, which I thought was a merciful gift. The lunch at Merci was very pleasant, tasty and balanced. The server was friendly, helpful and efficient-a compliment I wish I could toss off more often. Seriously, an easy, pleasant presence is the best first course! Our server was happy to walk us through the menu, answering all our questions without a sigh or outward grimace. The salads were light and bright, the risotto well prepared and the house wine decent. The setting is relaxed and quite comfortable. The view into the garden courtyard effectively opens up the room and lends great ambiance. You may be sitting in a store but it feels more like dining on a patio, no small design feat. So, even though I couldn't stop myself from snarking a bit about the shishiness of the whole scene of the scene, the whole shebang is more than decent and is definitely worth a lunch. There was some confusion to which pieces of jewellery were mine at the cashier and a man who i believe was the manager was really rude and aggressive with me for no reason. This review is mainly for their online store and customer service department. I have purchased some stationery goods from their website and I live outside the sea, therefore I've paid an extremely expensive international shipping cost. The goods were ordered on Aug. 15 and suppose to be picked up by the courier at Aug. 16 and a tracking number will be email to me. However, after money was withdrew from my credit card and some email between their customer service department, at very beginning they were saying pick up was delay because their inventory and will advise me tracking number on Aug. 26...but until now I still have not hear or receive any email from them. This is extremely bad online purchasing experience especially they already took the money from me without providing any courier tracking number and keep delaying my shipment and even ignore my email with no response from them. Regardless of how many stars this place has, you must check it out because it's just so cool and beautiful inside. The clothing brands are pretty typically what you'd find in a department store. All great street clothes. Brands like Carven, Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang, and Vanessa Bruno. Cool trendy concept store which is a cross between Anthropology and Terrain. Some very unique items that I had planned to buy made by and supporting orphans in Africa until I got to the register. The sales person behind the register was so very rude it was truly the worst, and only, anti American customer service experience I had in Paris. After waiting patiently for 15 minutes to check out, One of the items I planned to buy to support the charity in Senegal was not marked with the price. The cashier was furious I could not recall the exact price. She rolled her eyes at me, made a big fuss, spoke to her neighboring colleague about Americans etc. Irnically, the store was filled with Americans.
