We had the Cajun Potato today and it's definitely a 5 star dish. They put a large amount of crawfish étouffée on top of your baked potato and then place a large fried shrimp on top of that! Great food. We were in Nachitoches for a few days and went downtown to see the Christmas lights and thought we would get a bite to eat. We ended up here due to the positive Yelp ratings and are glad we did. The food and service were incredible. The meat pie, red beans and rice, chicken sausage gumbo and crawfish etoufee and bread pudding were great. The service couldn't have been better, Bailey was an incredible waitress. This place was a let down.. The building and the inside were nice but as you can see from the pic the building is not marked besides "MB" and The parking lot is almost nonexistent. I ordered a meat pie and a stuffed potato. Now the meat pie was 100% natchitoches meat pie company frozen meat pie and the potato I'm guessing was frozen also with fake cheese on it ‍. The garlic bread was a wth moment, the meat pie has breading on it so it made no since on the plate. Now I can get that meat pie at any gas station that has food for 2$ so the fact I paid 15$ for this meal will never happen again read more

Ah, meat pies. I love meat pies. And Natchitoches is famous for them. We had heard that the best place to eat meat pies was at another local restaurant (Lasyone's). But my folks had a bad experience there a few years ago and didn't want to risk it again. We heard from the sales lady at Georgia's that Merci Beaucoup was even better than Lasyone's. So we trekked on over for some famous meat pies before the restaurant closed for it's lunch service. That's right people, the restaurants in this lazy little town close between lunch and dinner services. As we walked up towards Merci Beaucoup, I noticed on their sign that they were the home of the "cajun potato." I had no idea what that meant, but I was interested in finding out. When we walked in, the restaurant was moderately busy, but you could tell we definitely hit this place after the main lunch crowd. As the host seated us, I asked him what was the "cajun potato." He replied that it was a baked potato with shrimp etouffee poured on top with the option of putting one or two deep fried prawns on top of that. All of us ordered and were served quickly. The iced tea is freshly brewed and of course comes in sweetened or unsweetened. I ordered a meat pie from the ala carte menu (we had eaten just a few hours previously but wanted to fill up on some meat pies before we left for the day). The meat pie was the perfect size. The base is about 5 inches long and completely filled with spicy meat. It was very yummy. If I had room for a full-sized lunch I would have ordered the meat pie plate. That's what my stepmom ordered. The plate came with a meat pie, a pile of dirty rice, a roll, and a dinner salad. The dirty rice was seasoned well with bits of ground beef. It was perfectly dry. I could have eaten a whole plateful of that stuff. My dad ordered the cajun potato. Oh man, talk about a baked potato. The shrimp etouffee was spicy and just the right amount of thickness. It wasn't too runny or too thick. This was excellent too. We walked out of there perfectly stuffed. If we had room for more we may have ordered dessert, but we were just too full. I would totally come back here again. I'm so glad I was able to stop here and try some of the local dishes. It totally helped make my trip to Louisiana. I gotta have the Southern food whenever I come and take any opportunity to order this food that I can't find easily back in Los Angeles. read more

In Natchitoches on business for several days and trying to avoid fast food when possible. Colleague and I wanted a quick but delicious meal at lunch. Merci Beaucoup came highly recommended. We decided to give it a shot. The recommendation was spot on. Staff was friendly and attentive. Our server answered our questions about the menu and brought lunch quickly. I had a Reuben and fruit. My coworker had a grilled chicken sandwich and fries. He cleaned his plate. And i left only a few tests of orange rind on mine. I was really excited to try this place, but was very disappointed after visiting with my family. The service was really slow, the food was overpriced for what you got and wasn't that great. I had a cup of soup and a crab cake and neither were very good. Other family members tried the chicken which was way too dry, and the gumbo which was barely seasoned and very bland. Came here with a date more familiar with the area who told me that Nachitoches meat pies were a great local bite. I Yelped this place from the road with the intent of trying the pie. I ended up having gumbo to start, because I was eager to try it "for real" having made it a fair bit myself back home in California. Even though it was just an appetizer for us, it ended up being the best thing we had here. Flavorful, with good chunks of meat. The pies were only ok, mostly as I was told that they should have a bit more heat to them. We speculated that they tone down the heat in their meat pies at Merci Beaucoup because they see a lot of tourists that might not expect it. The dirty rice served with the meat pie was tasty, and was almost better than the pie itself. The main dish and the side ended up seeming a bit same-ish, but they were still tasty. We ended up getting a dessert- some bread pudding that was fantastic and induced a suitable amount of guilt. Worth it, on a vacation! One thing to note: this place has a really small parking lot. I'm not sure if it's ever actually a problem, but it seems like it might be. read more

I took my theater students to a festival at Northwestern, and we planned to have lunch on our first day before the festival here. Our bus driver got lost on the way so we arrived to the restaurant with less than an hour to eat. There were 18 of us! The Merci Beaucoup staff stepped up and helped us out immediately. They sat us at a large table in the back and started taking our orders right away. We took the food to go so we wouldn't be late to the festival. They went out of their way to get our food ready super quickly and this was at prime lunch time with a restaurant full of people! The food was delcious. Every person was satisfied and raved about their meal. Which is a difficult thing to achieve with a large group. I had the Demon Burger and it was phenominal. The mushrooms were the perfect touch! The staff was so friendly and accomodating and the food was incredible. I hope to visit on our next trip to Natchitoches when we have more time to sit and enjoy our meal! read more

Merci Beaucoup has the best bread pudding I've ever eaten and I make a habit of eating bread pudding when I see it on the menu. Their bread pudding is really wet and swims in a sea of creamy rum sauce. I pretty much hate Natcitoches but I've considered making the 3 hour trek north from Lafayette to Natchitoches just to eat at Merci Beaucoup. Disappointing. Traveling through LA stopped at 2:40 for late lunch on Friday. They were preparing to close and our experience reflected it. The salads appeared to have been made several hours ahead of time. The oil and vinegar dressing for the salad was vegetable oil and red wine vinegar. The chicken on the salad was cold and possibly had gone off as my wife developed the runs shortly after eating. The dirty rice was nothing more than white rice with some meat mixed in it. I am pretty sure the kitchen staff had gone for the day and the inexperienced wait staff had been charged with putting our meal together. Just in town for a little sightseeing and stopped for lunch because of the wonderful reviews. In a word -- delish! I had the Church Street Salad w/ fried chicken. (Don't judge; you can get grilled chicken if you wanna.). The Orange Dressing is to-die-for and the honey mustard for dipping the chicken was just as amazing.
