This place could have potential....but is just unkept, owners obviously don't care about it. None of the prices on the large billboard inside are even close to accurate.(is this even legal to post prices that are incorrect?). They have signs everywhere about no refills due to covid.....it's 2025 folks. No napkins in the dispensers. If you're looking to trip or get a nice splinter just walk on the deck at the entrance. The super cheeseburger is one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The chicken salad was great. The fries were good (if you don't like salt) but weren't anything special. The drinks were larger than most other restaurants, so there's no need to bring your own. The customer service is basic (feels practiced) but appreciated. At 11am, the scenery is okay. I went here on June 17th 2022 with the Westlake Rams basketball team. The team had a basketball camp all day at Northwestern State which is just across the street from Magee's. Magee's had some awesome burgers, seafood baskets and even better ice cream desserts!! Blue Bell ice cream is offered as in a banana split which is what I got. They also have soft serve ice cream in a cup blended with all kind of treats. You cannot go wrong with anything you choose!! I found a pic on yelp of a club sandwich that came from Magee's. It looked so good I had to go and get one. I was not disappointed! It was very and fresh and the price was reasonable. I came back a second time to pick up sandwiches for me and a friend and had to get the club again because it was so good, but I also got the French dip (being from the New Orleans area just had to) with the intentions of splitting the sandwiches with my friend. They were both very good. Will look forward to getting back to try some other menu items. This place was not the greatest. We got the food really fast which was nice, but the food was really greasy and I almost threw up later when I was at a camp. The biscuits are really good just don't get any meat and it's fine. Also, I don't have anything against paper plates, but everything came in one of the to go boxes and paper utensils. Me teammate's fork broke trying to stick it into her sausage. I just think it makes a restaurant a little unprofessional, but if it's a cost thing I understand.Other than that, the bathrooms are in a completely separate outhouse building behind the restaurant. read more

Got the over priced catfish poboy. Which I can only describe as an undercooked piece of fish slathered in expired tartar sauce inside a wet paper towel. Mediocre drunk food at best. I come from VA where people swear that all food in the south is better prepared. As that is not the case with this restaurant, $8.25 for their po boy sandwich and it was under seasoned and the sweet tea tastes like mildewed tap water. On my tour of local restaurants, I decided to stop by Magee's today for a late lunch/early supper. I walked in and I was the only one around (other than the staff). After a friendly and insightful conversation with an employee, I decided on a burger, fries, and a milkshake. I was pretty excited that they carry Blue Bell ice cream, as I hold this brand in high regard. After I ordered, I was pretty surprised to see my total. I felt it was a bit high, but I was going to withhold my judgment until after my meal. When they brought it to me, the burger was bigger than I expected it to be. So, after my standard picture, I dug in. I would compare the burger to something similar to a what-a-burger, but slightly bigger. It was a 1/3 pound beef patty, pickles, onions, tomatoes, etc. It was good. The fries weren't anything special, certainly not bad. I was disappointed in the milkshake. It didn't have a good consistency, nor did it taste right. It had a bit of sour milk taste and very liquid. For a restaurant who seems to pride themselves on ice cream and milkshakes, I was surprised at what I received. I'd rate this trip as a 3; however, if the milkshake was better I would have given them an extra star. Happy dining. read more

Across the street from the college. An order at the front, seat yourself place. Inside and outside dining. Burgers, Fries, Sandwiches, and Shakes type menu (sort of pricey, in my opinion). Service was ok, nothing special just order takers. The inside was kind of dirty and needed a good scrubbing but the outside was nice, clean and had shaded seating. I ordered the Club sandwich and a Baked Potato. The sandwich was awesome! Fresh everything, just great! The Potato wasn't cooked enough and was hard. I threw it away after just a few bites. The Husband ordered a Double Cheeseburger and Fries. At first glance we was disappointed in the sad looking little burger but after taking a bite he said it was fantastic! I ordered the shrimp poboy with fries yesterday. It was extremely average. I've had much tastier poboys from Aj's outside of Atlanta. (C'mon you CANNOT let a seafood spot in Georgia outdo you!! But seriously if you're ever passing through try their shrimp poboys and crawfish egg rolls.) Anyway within an hour of getting home my stomach starts to hurt. By the end of the night I'm nauseous, tired and have chills. I can feel my stomach churning and make it to the bathroom where I became violently ill - and I wasn't throwing up. Magee's is an NSU old stand-by. It's located right across from Varnado Hall and is probably the easiest place for students to dine off-campus without really having to go far. We usually ate there when we did not want to eat in the cafeteria and no one had a car. It was always a little over-priced for what it was, but we still went there! They have pretty standard food: chicken fingers, burgers, fries, milkshakes. Their ice cream was always great and they have a nice outside seating area. The one thing I always really loved about Magee's is that they are a local business and really supported the community. Almost every weekend you will see an NSU or Natchitoches Central club or organization holding a car wash for charity in their parking lot. If not for anything else, that is why I would go back and patronize their restaurant. read more

I went backpack camping about twenty minutes south of Natchitoches, LA and I figured since I was so close I might as well venture into the historic town to get some meat pies. Sadly, the main meat pie destination that I bookmarked on Yelp was closed on Sundays so determined to get my meat pies I turned to Yelp again and found another restaurant, Landings. Upon entering Landings we were seated right next to a brunch buffet complete with live Jazz and smelling like an old smokey wiener and looking very gutter punk-ish in camp attire we left immediately. Thankfully, on the way out of town, desperate for meat pies we saw Magee's with their large sign advertising meat pies. It turned out to be just what we were looking for. The place is kind of like a locally owned Sonic. All the girls working there were super sweet and the menu is presented at the front counter just like a fast food restaurant. While it is just fast food, it's a locally owned fast food joint with some awesome snacking options which makes it a way better option than any other fast food burger chain in the area. I got a two meat pie basket with french fries for only five dollars, and while the meat pies were good, they were nothing amazing and were probably pre-made and frozen. If you're looking for some good fast food snacks this place is great, but I'm sure there are better meat pies to be had in the area. read more

We stumbled upon Magee's while passing through town on our way to NOLA. We love eating local cuisine on trips! The young lady who took our order was sweet and helpful. Good experience up to that point. But when the food was brought to us, the cook had put cheese on my husband's plain and dry HAMburger. Without raising a fuss, I took it to a different young lady at the counter who took the burger from me without saying a word and handed it to the cook. I was treated very rudely. The atmosphere is typical of what you expect located next to the university. There's students studying off to the side or just grabbing a bite to eat between classes. This was by far the worst drive through experience I have ever had. Waited 10 in line to order two chocolate milkshakes and a chicken finger basket. Got to the window, paid received shakes and was asked to pull forward to wait on basket. Shakes were vanilla instead of chocolate. Chose not to make a fuss and just deal with it.
