Tuff Shed

Tuff Shed

(1 review)

I should have written a review for this business years ago as they did me very dirty in so many…read moreways. I think I had to work through some of the anger 1st... This is a very dishonest location of Tuff Shed. At the time I used them, they were the location that filled the work orders for the Shreveport/Bossier Home Depots. I purchased one of the larger buildings sold at Home Depot and I paid well over $10,000 for it. The big initial problem was that (according the the work crew's admission) they showed up with a smaller crew than usual for the size of the job, spread thin because of an additional job at another location. They rushed the work and ended up completing the job in the dark because they didn't want to make the long drive another day to Keithville, just south of Shreveport. They insisted I sign off on the job's completion that night because they had their job completed. I stated that it was pitch dark and I was unable to inspect their work. The young teen job supervisor not only couldn't give me but one key to the shed because they had lost the other keys in the dark but was rude to me about not being able to inspect it and said what do you need to inspect? I can throw my light on it (a small pen light). The guy promised me that they would mail me the missing keys along with the warranty papers and serial plate and that they stood behind their work and if I later found anything wrong they would come back out and make it right. I never received anything in the mail from them, no warranty papers and never the additional keys. I had complained to the job supervisor when it was being built about how the roof's plywood butted up to each other at the top center at one end but there was a gap of approximately 2 inches at the other end. He blew me off and said yeah if I had pointed that out to him earlier he'd have had the guys fix that but there was no way he was gonna do that now because it would involve undoing too much other work to correct that and it was within code and a common occurrence, nothing to be concerned about...the shingles would cover it. The next morning when I looked the building over I saw many areas missing paint on the exterior. The caulking was shoddy and sporadic. Inside there were many long nails sticking out in dangerous areas much the result of inaccurate misfiring of the pneumatic nail guns. The building was not level. I made several phone calls always with a promise to have someone return my call to address the issues. No return calls were received. It rained. The roof leaked. Water dripped in from somewhere. I couldn't determine the exact entry spot but seemed to be coming in where the upstairs loft met at the sloped roof and ran down the wall and eventually dripped into the side door. I made many more calls. Finally they told me they were sending a crew out to fix the problems. The only person to show up was the same previous job site supervisor. His solution was to hand me a bunch of caulk tubes and pour me some paint into a smaller bucket for me to do the work myself. By that time I had already clipped the dangerous nails. As for the leak he said he couldn't fix that because I couldn't tell him where he needed to fix it and as it wasn't currently raining, he couldn't determine where it leaked. I told him I felt it was likely entering somewhere higher up anyway and running down under the shingles to enter farther down and that he needed to get on the roof to inspect. He laughed at me and said well if you look at my truck you will see that I don't have a ladder with me to get up on the roof. Tell ya what, you find out where water is leaking in at and you can caulk it because I'm leaving you with plenty of it but I can't fix what I can't see. I called the office again to complain and finally after several weeks the manager returned my call and asked what I expected them to do. I told him to fix all the leaks. Re-roof the whole thing and form a piece of metal flashing to cover over the large gap at the inverted V type roof before laying shingles and have the shingles overlap adequately at the center. By that time water was leaking much worse and in more places including at the very top center. He said he would see what he could come up with but that I wasn't where he could just swing by to personally inspect. Nothing ever happened. I tried getting Home Depot to do something but they claimed they merely sold the job to Tuff Shed and it was up to them to make it right. I got up on the roof and put roofing tar at the top. A few years later I contacted Tuff Shed about the rotting door. The friendly lady I spoke to needed that serial # I never received to be able to pull up the specifics. She stated that the previous manager and all the crew had been replaced due to many similar complaints. A guy came out, inspected, and agreed to re-roofing and door replacement but said that it might be several months. Several months later I contacted them and was told, sorry, out of warranty.

Dont say anything to me when it happens because I wont be on your side either They seriously just DONT CARE ABOUT LAKEWAY HARBOR OWNERS AND ARE ONLY VOLUNTEERING FOR THEIR BENEFIT SO FAR AS I CAN SEE RIGHT NOW I DO NOT SEE THEM DOING ANYTHING FOR THE OWNERS AND THATS WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AT LAKEWAY HARBOR FOR TO HELP THE OWNERS.WHO PAYS THE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION DUES? THE HOMEOWNERS!

I suggest this site first be transparent regarding who is now in HOA Officies as mandate by Smith County Law. A second portion of this site would outline the sub-divisions established by former HOA Boards, and currently used for planning and review of needs to be addressed. At present, I believe that the Lakeway Harbor Community is increasingly outside requirements for HOA communities to maintain standards required by the county. This places all homeowners in difficult positions, and the very nature of the current LH HOA should be articulated and posted here or in an alternative location on the internet.
