When we returned to start test driving and move forward with the purchase, Houston assisted us since Rob was out of town. Houston was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. He kept everything transparent, answered all of our questions, and made buying my first car feel much less overwhelming. The most surprising and worst customer service Ive ever experienced. I had called 3 times to try and get details on a car I really wanted to purchase for my daughter. Each time, was told someone would call me back. Didnt get a call back that day so I called the next morning. Had a good conversation with the salesperson and I told him that even though the car was a 2025 with 6,500 miles and Honda certified preowned, I would be traveling to Merced from NV to purchase it so I wanted to make sure the car was in very good shape. I told him I wanted to make sure the outside didnt have scratched paint and dings and dents and the interior was immaculate and no things like ripped seats and that it had not been smoked in and anything else obvious. The salesman said...."I want to understand what you think is dent or ding or bad scratches cause I may think its something different". This was a outstanding response and displayed that they were into customer communication and thoroughness as a company. (Boy was I wrong). I communicated to the salesperson what I thought was a measurable dent and ding and that swirls in the black paint were expected but if there were more as actual scratches, to please let me know. All I wanted was transparency and honesty. I asked the sales man to take video and pictures of the car and he did, of only the outside though. I reviewed the pics/vid of the exterior. The car looked to be in great condition. I asked him about the inside and if it was in the same great condition. The sales man said yes, and that it was in great condition also. I told the salesman based off the car being in new condition (2025 with 6500 miles) I was going to rent a 1 way rental car and drive the 4+ hours and come buy the car that afternoon. I asked him to hold the car and not sell it to anyone else. He said his general manger said they needed a $500 deposit to hold the car until I arrived later that day to purchases it. I gladly gave them my credit card. I arrive at Merced Honda and during the test drive see that a hole was patched in the dash board. Literally an approx 3" x 3" patch spray painted, right in front of the salesman, directly in front of him on the top/outside edge of dash board. He said he hadnt seen it but agrees it was a patch. Additionally a large plastic piece in the center console is missing exposing large bolt heads. While losing confidence that I had been given honest info about the condition of a Certified Preowned Honda, just a few months old with 6,500 miles on it, I look around and notice deep scratches and gouges in the interior center console plastic. Additonally, during the drive both the salesman and I smell weed while running the AC. The salesman relays its from a nearby dispensary. (I cant confirm this) We arrive back at the dealership and I step out of the car. While looking back in I notice a burn (the size of a dime so likely cigarette or something). The salesman says he hadnt seen that either. At this point the damaged areas to the interior of the car are substantial (considering they said it was in great condition like the outside) and unable to be disputed. After about 10 minutes of collecting my thoughts, I tell the salesman I feel Ive been misled and I want to talk to the general manager and get my deposit back. He takes me inside and goes into a nearby office. A muscular guy walks out with him and walks towards me. No "how can I help you" or anything from a service standpoint, but walks aggresively up to me. I tell him in a rational tone......."Im pissed. I have been misled and I just want my deposit back." His repsonse as he literally raises his voice to yelling...."You werent misled! If you dont want the car, fine, you dont want the car but you dont have to be rude about it. I reply (without raising my voice) ....."So what youre saying is when a Honda that is basically brand new, and certified preowned with only 6,500 miles on it and I asked to know about any blemishes before I drive 4 hours, that I wasnt misled? (Reminder, Merced Honda/salesperson initiated the conversation about wanting to understand the condition of dings/dents/scratches, when talking about the exterior). The General Mangers response in a raised voice and in my face was "What is good condition to one person may not be different to another person. If you dont want the car, great! We'll give you youre deposit back and you can go back to Reno!" I drove directly to Mistlen Honda in Modesto CA and purchased the same year, CPO car, at a better price. I since also have sent 3 new customers to Mistlen (through nor CA social media patforms where Ive explained to others the horrible service at Merced Honda). Being really surprised that a Honda with 6,500 miles on it and certified preowned that Merced Honda certified themselves (per input from attorneys), we quickly concluded that Honda corporate should understand how their brand is being horribly represented by Merced Honda. read more

Merced Honda sucks. I called three different times in a week because I'm having electrical problems with my car. When I called, I got the dealership receptionist, who would try to transfer me to the service department. It rang and rang until it bounced me back to reception. After a couple rounds of this, she'd take a message for someone to call me back. No one ever did. I tried scheduling online, but my reason for service isn't an option on their pull down menu. So I called Clawson Honda in Fresno and they answered the phone! They offered me an appointment for the very next day, and I'm getting great service there. I'm just ticked off I had to drive an extra hour to have my car worked on, because no one at Merced Honda's service department can answer the phone or return a call. read more

I made the decision to purchase my very first vehicle from Merced Honda in June 2020--a brand new model, straight off the lot. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be an exciting milestone quickly turned into an ongoing and frustrating ordeal. At the time of purchase, I opted not to buy extended coverage and instead relied solely on the manufacturer's standard warranty, which included a specific mileage and time limit--whichever came first. Less than a year into ownership, I began experiencing issues with the moonroof. It would fail to open properly and made loud, concerning noises, as if it were stuck. I brought the issue to Merced Honda's attention promptly, while still under warranty. Over the course of several visits--at least five to six times--the dealership attempted to "fix" the issue. However, each visit only resulted in a temporary solution. The problem would return within a week or less, requiring me to take additional time off work for each appointment. Eventually, I surpassed the mileage limit on the warranty. At that point, Merced Honda informed me that I would now be responsible for service charges--even though the issue had originated well within the warranty period and had never been fully resolved. At this same visit, I was told that parts now needed to be replaced--something that had never been mentioned during any of my prior service visits. This raised serious concerns for me, as it appeared the dealership had applied superficial fixes until the warranty expired, conveniently shifting the burden of cost onto me. Feeling taken advantage of--especially as a first-time car buyer and a woman--I contacted Honda corporate. They opened a case on my behalf and instructed me to schedule a diagnostic appointment. However, when I tried to do so, Merced Honda canceled my appointment on the same day due to a scheduling error, once again causing me to lose work time. When I finally spoke with a supervisor, Tony, I was told that no parts actually needed to be replaced and that the issue might be electrical. The moonroof appeared to be functioning again--briefly. Unfortunately, within two days, the problem returned. I contacted Merced Honda yet again, and was informed I would be charged for further diagnostics and repairs. I followed up with Honda corporate, who reviewed documentation from the dealership. This time, the paperwork stated that parts did in fact need to be replaced and quoted an $800 repair--half of which Honda offered to cover. This entire situation has been extremely disappointing. The issue began well within the warranty period, yet the resolution was postponed until I was out of coverage. I feel misled and let down by both Merced Honda and Honda corporate. As a result, I would not recommend Merced Honda to others. I will also no longer be servicing my vehicle there--not even for routine oil changes. read more

They lie about the extended warranty that covers maintenance on your car AND will "lose" any proof you bought insurance and try to scam you. Then give you a "payment plan" but it's actually a 25% apr contract trap to scam you out of another couple hundred dollars. My maintenance light came on (A17) so my boyfriend said to have the 7 service done at Merced Honda. I called on a Saturday morning and the receptionist transferred me to the service department. 30mins later, the call got dropped so I called again and talked to the same girl who got my phone number. She said someone will call me before end of the day. I gave it a chance and called at around 230pm and spoke to someone from the service department. They were able to give me an appointment that week. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT -- we got there and thr place was empty so someone helped us right away. The guy took my vehicle info and my info and told me that it will take about 1 to 1 1/2 hour to be done. They texted me after 1 hour to tell me that my car was ready. We came by to pick it up right before they close at 5pm. Service is great here. We didnt have any issue. read more

Honda, step up your game! My sister brought her car in three times to fix her AC that wasn't working properly. After spending $1900, they're now telling her they can't do anything unless she pays an additional $1800 for more parts, which they claimed to have resolved during the first visit. The first time she took it in, her car wasn't blowing cold air. They allegedly fixed it and it worked for a day, but then stopped working by the end of the day. The second time she brought it in, they said it would work, but it was still blowing hot air. On the third visit, they wanted to order new parts and charge her $1800? This review is for Mr. Arturo Velasco who works at Merced Honda. I was traveling to Yosemite from San Jose around the 4th of July holidays, when I met with a flat tire around Merced. I was taken to Merced Honda by AAA roadside assistance. It was about 6pm, and Merced Honda was about to shut down and most employees had left. Mr. Arturo who's about to leave, talked to me and assured me that he would help me get it fixed that same day. He checked multiple local garages and roadside assistances and found a roadside assistance and a garage(Costco) to have my tire fixed given that I needed to reach Yosemite that very day. He could've left once the roadside assistance was on its way, but he sat in the office and chatted with me and my wife to calm us down. He then went with us to Costco and use his membership to have my car serviced as Costco, given that I didn't own a Costco membership. Not only did he stop at that, but he also gave us a tour of Merced Costco and called me his 'Primo'. I can't thank him enough. He may call me his 'Primo', but to me he's my angel. He's one of those people who restore our faith in humanity. He wasn't obliged to help me, but he went out of his way to help a complete stranger. How many people would do that ? Folks, If I was living around Merced, I know whom to buy a car from - Mr. Arturo Velasco. He's one of the rare people who will treat you as family, and not as a customer. So we wanted to another positive experience with Merced Honda. Juan Diaz was our service advisor. He did a phenomenal job. Essentially we came in Saturday afternoon for a replacement key for our 2013 Honda Accord. Should have been straight-forward but apparently the key cutting machine was not working properly. Juan wanted to make sure the key worked in the door and the ignition. He was so friendly positive and patient. It took over an hour but we had time to wait. He was Apologetic and it was clear he is a professional. Will continue to get our oil changes and other scheduled maintenance here. Our car was having electrical issues on the way to Fresno and we had to turn back. We couldn't make it home so we stopped in Merced Honda. We told them our desperate situation and instead of helping they took advantage of us. I was charged $1427.47 for replacing an alternator. Itemized to $616.14 for an aftermarket alternator and $760.50 for the labor. I didn't mind the cost of the alternator but what I was pissed about was the charge of labor. Their rate is $169/hr, and so they charged me 4.5hrs for a alternator job. I found out later from a friend that works at a Honda dealership that alternator jobs only take 1.5 hrs to do and should be charged accordingly to that. Where did the extra 3 hrs come from? read more

We had made it clear that we were gathering facts and calling around since it was a Honda and kind of pointless to drive to a bigger city to get a better deal that didn't exist. The gentleman that was meeting with my Wife and I basically left us hanging when we made the decision to buy. Being a former Salesman, I remember how it was to work on a deal then have it walk, so I kept in touch with him. Needed to confirm colors, features and models in stock with Merced first. So I gave him time and dates on when I was stopping by and he basically backed off the deal by not answering the calls and not even staying outside with us. Other teammates would tell us to wait outside for him and he w say he was busy or we needed to make an appointment. Not sure why anyone would do that especially when we were going to buy. So we gave him one more chance and literally said we were buying today and he told me to go make an appointment. So I did, in Roseville. There was no yelling match or anything like that or is flaming out. He just didn't close for some reason. I take my Pilot here to get the oil changed. Service department are idiots My mom bought a 2018 certified used accord. Paid around $25000 and dropped down $10000 in cash. The day my mom bought the vehicle I noticed there was a plastic part missing for the emergency tank lid cable. They tell us that we would have to wait about 30 mins to get a part number by a technician in order for the part to be covered by them. But if I want to pay cash the part guy will go out and get the part number right away Why does it take a technician to get a part number that the part guy can get. So if it is free we will make you wait and waste your time. but if you are paying for the part we will do it right now. After I questioned the guy he tried to explain but still made no since why we have to wait for the same part number from a different person. Then he goes to tell me that he is not talking to me and then starts talking to my mother. How does he know who paid for the damn car. Just because he doesn't like conflict? The staff at the Merced Honda Service Center are fabulous! Our 2014 CR-V suffered a severe battery drain, and it wouldn't even take a jump start. But we were on vacation, hundreds of miles from home, and we had to get the CR-V to run, to warm up the transmission, so that we could tow it home behind our RV. The service staff at Honda of Merced got our car in right away, they tested all the components, diagnosed the problem, charged the battery, and saved the day. They wouldn't accept any money, saying "Shucks, we just charged your battery, no charge." Thanks Merced Honda! read more

My wife took our Pilot for an oil change and they wanted to charge her more than what they had stated. They guy calls the mechanic to ask why (which as an advisor you should know what you are doing) to ask why, only to say it required more oil. Really? Your prices are set for an oil change on the V6 engines and gave the price. Why would it all of sudden come to a surprise? Plus, when my wife asked about some concerns that we were having, Luis was very condensing to my wife about asking them to just check if it was normal for the A/C to be crazy loud. Usually in the past they wouldn't mind and now everything has a fee. Want your brakes checked? Its a fee vs before it was part of inspection report you would get when getting any service. Never going back and rather go somewhere else if this is the service you get. Honda corporate should crack down on these dealers with such bad personnel. Go to Campus better and always honest and upfront with no hidden fees. read more

I wish I had looked at these reviews before I started taking my car here 1.5 yrs ago. First of all you can't get ahold of a service manager to make appts then when you go in they are always standing around. I couldn't get ahold of anyone to make an appt again so I took it to one of my friends who's a mechanic. He found the oil filter stuck and they hadn't lubricated it. He thinks it was so stuck that they just left it on and didn't change it which could of messed up my engine. I paid 100 for my air and cabin filter and they were black so they didn't change them. My car was idling a little rough and afterward it ran very smooth. Thier techs are lazy and incompetent and I will tell everyone I know never to take thier car there!!! My first time at Merced Honda . Definitely, the Worst car service that I have experienced.! Do not give them your hard earned money, they really don't care about you or your car. Do not Give them any constructive criticism, they can't handle it. "Well one thing I noticed different from the other places is that there was only one service person checking all these people in.. 2.The system of leaving the keys on a desk unattended makes me nervous. I think it should not be in plain site to customers. I don't want my information or key left like that. I see no camera around monitoring. These are just some safety and security things that I noticed. Thanks " I texted the above, when I received a txt from them while I waited for my car. Next thing I noticed is that, people who came after me have left.. brake flush should take approximately 30 minutes. after 2 hours, I am still waiting... when I went to inquire is when i was told that I have 2 nails. I came in with no nails to the tires, to 2 nails , one to front right passenger tire and one to the back left tire. They told me they didn't have a technician to take care of it today. I will have to come back Monday. I asked for the manager to address this issue, he said that he was in charge today.. as you can tell, nothing was handled properly.. I had to go to a real mechanic to take care of the problem.. because it is not safe to drive with 2 nails to your tires. Interesting thing was that it was not a nail, but both tires had the same kind of metal pierced sideways into the tires. What are the odds? This was my experience. Merced Honda is a joke. Don't bother taking your vehicles there period. If I can give them a zero star I would. Took my CRV twice to them due to keyless entry control problem. They can not find out the problem and keep saying it's a bad battery. I told the battery is brand new-less than a month old. They made me take the battery to Auto Zone to exchange for a new one. We took battery to Auto Zone and the battery is fully charge and good. Nothing wrong with the battery. We took battery back to Merced Honda and told Luis Rodriguez what we found. They just let. Y car sit there for over week. No contact as to the status of the vehicle. I had to called this Luis so many times and all he said was, nothing wrong with vehicle m. Tech still working on it. After a week I picked up my CRV and took it to another Honda Dealer. They found the problem with a couple days and got it fix within the time frame they stated it would. The advisors are Merced Honda are unprofessional and rudes . The tech are inexperienced and don't know what they are doing. I will go out of town for services. read more

I got there at 8:30 am they told me three hours to test a car better I had for a warranty claim. I called back three hours later after going to Costco and eating with my son to kill time since I was from out of town. When I called back around 11:30 they said they had forgot about it and it had been sitting on the counter. They said another hour. After another hour I called back and they again said another couple hours. Long story short they had me waiting from 8:30-4pm for a battery testing that should not have taken more then 3 hours. Especially since I tested the voltage before I took it in and new they had enough to run tests. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. And even after all that I was over charged 10% on the warranty claim. I will make sure to let every one know not to do business with Merced Honda. One star only cause I can't give zero read more

Avoid this place at all costs! Their service department is so unprofessional and doesn't care about their customers even when they say they do. I arrived at about 12:45pm today for an oil change. The staff member told me it would be about an hr to an hr and a half since there were 4 people ahead of me. I told them that's fine no problem. I tend to just stay in the waiting area which is what I did today. 2 hrs pass by and still nothing , I look at the staff member that checked my car in and asked him what happened to my car. He said I'll go check right now and see what happened. He comes back and tells me that they unfortunately skipped my car. I tell him are you serious? I asked has it even been worked on? He said no, they taking it in right now it shouldn't take too long. He notices I am irritated and apologizes and says he would take care of it. I just walk back to the waiting area, irritated and annoyed. This is not the first time it happens or that I receive a negative service from the service department. All staff members do is apologize for their mistakes to make it seem like it's okay which is not. The staff member comes back after my car is done and apologizes once again saying it was his fault that he got tight up with customers that had appointments. Excuses? Yes, very unacceptable and unprofessional. Apologizing doesn't make the situation better. They really need to work on their customer service. I don't end up leaving until about 3:30pm. Really avoid this place at all times! Last time I will be here. Very tired of how unprofessional their staff is and every single time I have been here they have always made it an unpleasant visit. I've complained in the past to other staff members about the unpleasant services and they do not do anything to make the situation better. All they do is give you a lame "sorry". Avoid this place!!!!
