I heard about this box through my sister and her husband who are members there and decided to drop in during the 2 weeks I was in Dallas. It's always nerve wrecking going into a new place to workout but the people and the atmosphere at Mental Giants are so awesome that you quickly forget any angst. I loved going to the 5pm classes bc Coach Keegan brings so much energy and makes the class so fun. I did a class with Sofia who is the morning coach and I loved her positivity and enthusiasm. It made crossfit a lot easier to get back into after months of missing it. I definitely recommend dropping into this box anytime you are in Dallas. You'll get a really good workout, meet some awesome people and really enjoy yourself! Definitely will be coming back anytime I'm in the area! read more

I'm in town on business and I wanted to make sure there was a box close to the hotel. Saw D1Fit on Google and gave it a go. Very happy I did. Came in to the 6am classes and was welcomed warmly. I liked how they have a plan for the whole hour...from the warm-up to Skill to WOD. It felt like I was getting the absolute most out of my time there. I also liked how the coaching tips were well thought out and demonstrated...I've been at this a while, am a coach myself, and still got a lot out of the coaching. The Box is clean, extremely well equipped and the owner gives personal attention to all of his clientele. He is also an ex University of North Carolina wrestler and knows what he is teaching. I stumbled upon D1Fit because of a Groupon, and it was going to be something a bunch of us girls can do together. First, I fell in love with this Crossfit gym, and then I fell in love with Crossfit. Keegan Mueller is the owner, and he is a great coach/trainer. We have classes, but it's not like a Zumba class or Yoga class where you're just trying to mimic what the instructor is doing. During the workout, Keegan is actively walking around and giving pointers for improving on posture so you can be most effective with your movement and target the correct muscle groups. He listens if you have any concerns with him or the class in general. He is very open to constructive criticism and aims to provide an excellent service for your money's worth. He is reflective in his teachings, so he is critical of himself. If he notices he has done something to cause you or anyone a disservice, he will act quickly to mitigate the problem. As a teacher, I have the same attitude towards myself, so I can assure you this is the attitude you want an instructor to have because this means he is constantly trying to improve himself and to keep things fresh. Also, the community here is great. Everyone is extremely supportive. We are all here to push each other to be better. I'm not going to lie, Crossfit is intense. It is a high intensity workout. The WODs (Workout of the Day) are designed to make you sweat for maximum burn. One thing about Crossfit is you are never doing the same WOD. Your body doesn't get use to anything, so you are sore all the time, which means your body is getting stronger. I wouldn't recommend Crossfit to anyone. If you are competitive and like to win, Crossfit is right for you. And if you are competitive, like to win, want good instruction, AND a good community, D1Fit Crossfit is the place for you. I have been a Crossfit member for a couple of years and recently just moved to a new area of Dallas. I discovered D1 Crossfit from a Groupon that they were offering and with it only being 8 minutes from our new place I had to try. The box (aka gym for any non cross fitter) is new and equipment and coaches are consistently being added. The members are awesome and at all levels of fitness. Some have never done CF before and others have been members of other gyms. The box has a free Saturday WOD (Workout of the Day) at 10am. If you have ever wanted to try CF, then hit up a Saturday, bring water and a good attitude! It's not easy and if it is easy then you didn't work hard enough! read more

If you have been to a crossfit gym, you've probably heard coaches/owners saying how much they care about their members meeting their fitness goals. Whether or not you believe them, rest assured that you will truly find this attitude at Crossfit Mental Giants well beyond what you have seen in the past. The owner Keegan legitimately gets excited when he helps people hit PRs - that's because he knows what it's like to progress to an elite level (D1 collegiate wrestling). The other coaches share this same unsurprisingly share this same attitude. Don't expect any frills from the place (great equipment nonetheless), but if you want to be guaranteed to meet your fitness goals as a beginner or someone who has been crossfitting for a couple years (me), look no further. Mental Giants CrossFit, formerly known as D1Fit CrossFit, was the best gym experience of my life. It was my first time at a crossfit box and I will never go back to an ordinary gym. All the coaches, Ben, Taylor, Sterling, the head coach Keegan and the yoga instructor Courtney are excellent motivators and very helpful. During the past three months I have been there I have reached new personal records on multiple movements and increased my flexibility. What separates this box from any other gym is the sense of community and how well the coaches cater to members of every level of fitness. During the workouts and warm ups the coaches find the time to give individual attention to every member. I will miss this place. read more

I came to D1Fit (Mental Giants) to perform the 2014 Crossfit Open workouts since my home gym is not a CrossFit affiliate. Keegan and others welcomed me into the gym, made me feel at home, and helped me with the WODs. I have been to many CrossFit gyms and I'm impressed with the level of coaching and community spirit that happens in this box. Keegan runs his gym the way a CrossFit gym should be run. He takes athletes at all levels and takes them to the next level in their fitness journey using the CrossFit methodology and they have fun in the process. read more

Overdue review!! Let me begin by saying I never considered doing crossfit before...It was something that my husband decided to give a try after pretty much growing bored of doing at-home workout videos for 4 yrs. I ended up here two months after he got enrolled in order to keep a dog we were fostering. I was supposed to do xfit only for one month....however, 6 months later I'm still here and I absolutely love it. It's hard to express what Mental Giants has going on unless you experience it for yourself but I will give it a shot: This box is as real and as non-pretentious as workout places get. I believe it is the result of what trickles down from the owner and other coaches. They don't treat this box as just a business or coaching as just as job, but rather you see they put their heart into what they do. They are passionate about teaching, coaching and working with your own individual strengths/weaknesses to help you improve. This is manifested in atmosphere of the box being very laid back & welcoming from day one (which can be quite intimidating when you are new on your first day), friendly members and the overall attitude of coach Keegan (owner), Sophia and Aaron. I've worked out under all three of them and I believe they are unbelievably amazing in their own way. Coach Keegan has like a wall full of fancy titles, awards, certifications etc. He is super proficient and very knowledgeable in this pro-athlete area, no questions about that. Yet he is a simple humble guy who will challenge you, work with you, teach you FORM FORM FORM and make you better. He will push you just enough to where you he knows you can go and will encourage you when you are sweating your guts out during the workout of the day at the same time stressing integrity even in the little things. He also encourages team bonding activities and community friendships among members. Sophia is as SWEET and PATIENT as coaches come!! She has the gift of teaching you the same move 10 times and keep a smile on her face the entire time. She focuses on the positive, encourages you, and always lifts you up (even when you may feel like quitting because the skill being taught is just over your head). Aaron is super uplifting and a cool guy. He will push you to do those extra reps while encouraging you not to give up. He also is awesome with time management... He is really good at leading class and keeping everyone on the allocated time for the workout so you will for sure get out on time if you have commitments later on!. I don't see us not being at Mental Giants Crossfit. I think what started as just a try for my husband and a one-month requirement for me to keep our foster dog has become a membership we are not planning on dropping anywhere in the near future. I have the wonderful gift of having my gym memberships paid for by my work. I have been to many boxes around the dfw area for that main reason. I have been challenged by all workouts. It's crossfit; it's supposed to be challenging. What sets Mental Giants apart is the community. Upon entering you never get the sense of exclusion but rather inclusion. Everyone cheers for each other and forms actual relationships further than just a simple handshake after the workout. There are group meals after workouts with open invites and just times where we sit around for an hour just chatting. We watch sports together, have parties, and even since I have been here, formed a great friendship with the owner Keegan. Very knowledgeable guy. He was a college athlete and even coached at a collegiate level. You will never hear that be tossed around in a demeaning way. He genuinely knows what he is doing and you can see in members who commit; an actual change in their appearance. Love this gym and could not imagine being anywhere else. #mentalgiantsfam read more
