NWT Consignment

NWT Consignment, while it doesn't seem to have as many "new with tags" items as I expected, is…read morestill a good consignment store. I'm in love with their Facebook/Craigslist drop-off exchange service! You can find some pretty good deals here - but you'll probably have to be careful as some of their items seem more expensive than necessary. PROS: -Facebook/Craigslist item drop-off is pretty amazing. Selling something online? Come in here, drop off your item along with $1, and they'll hold the item and allow the other person to pick up the item at the other person's leisure (and they'll collect the money for you + $1 extra dollar from the second person for the service). No trying to arrange suitable times between two people. No meeting in front of random stores to "make the exchange". They'll do it for you, and they only charge $2 - which is split between the two people. -Friendly service. There was a woman that greeted us when we walked in, let us know to ask her if we had any questions. Another woman asked her for help, and she went around and showed the woman all of the shirts she knew of that fit her request. She wasn't pushy, but she was friendly and around to help - and she was happy to answer my questions too. -Nothing seemed to smell like smoke or have pet hair on it. The building itself has a bit of a musky smell to it, but you get used to it within minutes. -Good sales. When we came here, everything (outside of wedding dresses, designer purses, and such) was $10 each. This discounted a lot of the prices within the shop to see well-within reach for consignment items. -Large variety of items. There's jewelry here, everyday clothes, business clothes, men's/women's/children's clothes, wedding dresses, shoes/heels/boots, prom-type dresses, furniture, and some industrial-type building supplies in the back. There are designer and non-designer purses too. They also have men's suits and shoes. -They offer layaway. I imagine this is for their big-ticket items (like wedding dresses) and less-so for their $5 jewelry rack. CONS: -Regular, everyday prices do seem a bit high. $30 for a non-brand name dress at a consignment store is a bit intense - and that seemed to be a standard price for some of it. That being said, they do have regular sales - and it seems like the pricing really does seem to vary by item. I found $5 sweat pants that I thought about walking home with. You can find some good deals if you look around. -It doesn't seem like everything here is new/unworn. I'm not sure what the estimate would be, but especially with shoes, there's a whole lot of wearing on many of the treads. -Organization isn't great among some of the racks. There are different areas for Small/Medium/Large/XLarge/Plus, but pants/skirts/dresses/shirts seem to be mixed in along each rack. The plus-size rack seemed to vary sizes from 14 all the way up to 28, and all of those were all sorts of mixed up too.

I recently bought a gift only to find that the zipper had teeth missing. I called immediately and left a message. I received no response for four days. When I went in to the store to ask about it, I was shown a small sign about six inches above the floor, hidden behind a shirt saying no returns. When I asked why no one had called back the owner got very abusive. Buy at your own risk.

Went to the store the other day instead of buying online as I needed a new outfit. I know they are…read morejust trying to sell you as much as they can but honestly I feel like they also know you very quickly and find what you like. I walked in with an oversized hoodie and jeans on that had a tare in the knee and dry paint on them and spackles of paint on my hands that I didn't get off. They didn't treat me any different than the ones that were way more presentable. As I let her know what I was looking for she got me the right size without asking I use to be a 44 and down to a 31 in jeans. As I was trying on multiple jeans that I wanted again without telling her she found me multiple shirts that fit my liking. I walked out spending more then I wanted but again felt like I was the same as anyone else walking in the store as someone getting ready to go shopping at Walmart.

It seems to be a bunch of young kids picking at their nails, talking about drama on Facebook, or texting on their phone. Then their are the few that follow your every move through the store and take suggestive selling to a whole other level. I went in a month or so ago to get some tops and jeans for my upcoming trip to Vegas, and thats when I had the best experience at this store. I worked with Kadie...who was super friendly and actually listened to what I was looking for. She pieced several outfits out for me, but wasn't overly pushy. Then a couple weeks later in the mail, I received a thank-you note. That alone will make me go back, and I'll request Kadie every time. I almost threw in the towel on this store, but its amazing how one person can change your whole perception.

This is rue21 store inside the Crossroads mall on the upper floor. It carries men's clothing, men's…read moreaccessories, women's clothing, and women's accessories. It does NOT carry the Rue21 Plus-sized line (not a single store in Iowa does!) However, they will accept online returns from your rue21.com purchase. They do carry socks and shoes, but the shoes are sized in "S, M, L, XL" instead of actually shoe sizes, so they may not fit everyone fine. This is a nice location. When they're super busy over the weekends, the clothing may not get folded correctly or the hangers may not be hung up in size-order. Most of the time, however, it's a pretty clean store - though it has a lot of merchandise in it, so it ends up feeling a bit crowded if there are a lot of people in the store. rue21 regularly runs sales and whatnot for half-off or 30%-off or so. It may be worth asking the cashier if any of those sales can be applied to your purchase. If you sign up for their e-mail newsletter online, you'll know. I hate paying full-price here because I know they regularly have these sales. With the half-off sale price, though, you can end up getting pairs of good jeans for less than $20, trendy shirts for less than $15, undies for $3-ish a pair, and surprisingly comfortable bras for around $8 each. It's not a very expensive store, but they do carry a lot of trendy clothing for very-affordable prices with the coupons. The staff is nice enough here. They mostly leave you alone, but they'll usually great meet when I come into the store. They're usually happy to answer questions, and while they seem busy or focused on what they're doing, they've never been rude to me. However, you should expect to take a bit of time to check-out. I rarely see both registers open at once, and they only seem to open them whenever there are 3+ people in line to check-out. Depending how many items each person ahead of you bought (and the sales associate does need to remove those security tags and refold on every. single. item), you might wait about 5 or 10 minutes to check-out here. It's usually closer to 5, though. Final thoughts: If you want affordable and trendy clothing that's pretty decent in quality, Rue21 is surprisingly good. I wish they carried their plus-sizes in-store, but they do not. They only go up to a women's XL in-store. It's a decent shopping experience, and while I'm not always fond of the trends they're selling, I've gotten some really cute clothing here.
