On Thursday, July 30, 2014, my husband and I went into the Men's Warehouse store in Covington, LA to redeem the remaining coupons we had received in January of that year as a "reward" for purchasing over $2000.00 worth of goods, 2 tuxedoes, several suits, shirts, ties, and shoes from the Metairie, LA store. We were served by Sean, a very nice young man. We had $100 in coupons left to be redeemed. While there we noticed an ad about turning in old suits for 50% off the purchase of your next suit. We also noticed they had a suit that was on sale for $179.99. It seemed like a good idea to ask Sean if the $179.99 suit promotion was included in the additional 50% for an old suit. He said, "Yes". We had already used one of the two $50 coupons we had left and as we're senior citizens on a fixed income, it seemed like a great deal since we could still use the final $50 coupon toward that purchase as well. We asked Sean to hold the suit my husband chose until the next day so we could bring his old suit in for the discount.
On returning with the old suit the next day, they immediately rang up a coupon for the 50% off. After my husband went through fitting the new suit for alterations, which for him is difficult due to his weaker condition from battling multiple myeloma cancer, we noticed we were being charged the $179.99 instead of the $90 we were told. We were told by the manager that the suit was originally over $500 and since the sale price of $179.99 was greater than the 50% that was the price we were to receive. We then asked to get the old suit back as there was no point in giving it to the store since we were getting nothing for it in return. At that time they informed us they couldn't reverse that transaction. We felt we were being ripped off. The manager said we could use 50% off on anything in the store other than shoes. Since everything else in the store is always buy one get one free, we asked if that would apply to that promotion and were told "No", we could only buy one thing and get it for 50% off. Seriously, what's the point in that? We made no purchase. They still have our old suit, which I'm sure they will donate for a tax write off, and we have nothing but lies from their personnel. My advice is to be very careful when dealing with this company. After we turn in our remaining $50 "reward" for a huge purchase, it will be the last time we deal with Men's Warehouse. read more
