Seriously, if there were a Hall of Fame for incompetence, these guys would be first ballot inductees. From the moment I walked in, it was clear customer service isn't just bad here--it doesn't exist. The staff looked at me like I had just ruined their day by daring to bring them business. I asked questions, they rolled their eyes. I called for updates, they dodged my calls like I was a debt collector. Professionalism? Nope. Accountability? Not a chance. They told me my car would be ready "in a day." Apparently, in their world, a "day" actually means "over a week of excuses, lies, and waiting." And when I finally got my car back, guess what? The original problem was STILL there--plus a couple of new issues they generously "added" for free. And then the cherry on top? A bloated, mystery bill with no explanation. Like, wow--thanks for nothing! This shop is basically a black hole where time, money, and vehicles go to die. If you enjoy being scammed, ignored, and disrespected, by all means--come here. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and drive PAST this place without even slowing down.

Living in SF and having my car repaired in Merced isn't the most effective system, but they really are worth the 2hr drive! So long story short, the 3 estimates I got here were $1,600, $1,800 and $1,900 (I can assume it would turn out to be more after taxes, hidden costs, extra labor, etc.), and Mark offered to do mine for $1,400 out the door!! That was worth it to me, so I had my car towed and just got word that it's done today. Now here's the clincher. I'm going to Modesto for Easter (40 miles away) and because the shop is closed on Sunday, they offered to drop my car off at my dad's place, so I can pick it up while I'm in the area. How cool is THAT!!??!! Seriously, they go above and beyond every time, and though my car is now on its last leg and I won't be repairing or replacing it when it FINALLY dies, YOU can trust YOUR car with Racobs for anything and everything that goes wrong. I was driving to the store in the afternoon when I heard meowing coming from inside my car. I pulled over to try finding the source of the noise, and sure enough a kitten had crawled up under my car and gotten itself stuck. I went to Lander Auto and Hilda immediately put my car on the lift and began the rescue mission. 45 mins later, she was able to retrieve the kitten unharmed. You could tell she had done this before and cared about the animal getting out safely. Now here is the best part. They refused to take any payment. Hilda said they were just happy to rescue an animals life and it was the right thing to do. We took pictures and she had me out of there with my new kitten in no time. Such kindhearted professional people. I won't ever go anywhere else to service my car. Attached are pictures of the kitten we saved.

For a very reasonable rate, Jacob (the owner) had one of his guys out the same day to do a full vehicle inspection along with photos and a recommendation for me. The mobile mechanic aspect is awesome and was a big time-saver for me. I ended up buying the truck that afternoon, and then had Jacob install a trailer hitch on the truck right after the purchase. The price quoted was half of what I had been quoted elsewhere and ended up being more difficult to install than expected, but Jacob kept his word and didn't try to increase the price mid-way through the job.
