Who doesn't love froyo! Well I'm definitely a froyo nut but this place was not up to par by any means!! We were greeted by a man upon entering as he then proceeded to ignore us to hold a conversation with a woman who was on her way out and as we came up to pay he left & a new employee rang us out as he was giving her directions to run the place. ??!! Not a great first impression. Also when the man (owner-I'm guessing left) rap music was put on the overhead speakers and it was a bit loud and I like rap but I like to hear the people I'm with talk to as well-again not a great 1st impression! Hopefully they'll get it together soon! Their froyo was melted and not very good at all, and I've been to other Menchie's before where the froyo was delicious!! Don't know what happened here but won't be back ever!! The taste of the dark chocolate froyo was so awful that I had to throw it out! I have never thrown out froyo & usually love ALL flavors! It's kind of like a buffet for frozen yogurt! This is a serve-yourself place, and they charge you based on weight. When I walked in, it was completely empty--there wasn't even an associate out front. I looked around until someone came out. He was very helpful in explaining how it works, but he disappeared as soon as I paid. They have two dairy-free options and two sugar-free options. The rest of the flavors are "normal." They have cups and cones, although he told me to take a cup, and I didn't see the cones until it was too late. I went with the chocolate, with a squirt of peanut butter for good measure. It was good, though not outstanding. The shop is bright and clean, with enough room for a few singles or small families. The fro-yo was a good thick consistency. It's the worst when it comes out watery and you can't put it back lol. Nice options of flavors like white chocolate, new York cheesecake and watermelon. Very refreshing for a warm day like today! What really makes this stand out though, is the service. I've interacted with 3 of their employees including the owner who are all very friendly and pleasant. There are seats and chairs outside which were very nice to eat fro-yo and get that vitamin D! I love menchies. They have tons of yogurt flavors and a good amount of toppings to choose from. And the price is reasonable - I think about 56 cents per ounce plus tax. The staff is always friendly, and it's only 5 minutes away from my apartment so it's a nice place to take the kiddo when we have a sweet tooth. read more

This place is awful. Last night the yogurt flavors were Chocolate Almond with Cheesecake, Chocolate Hazelnut with Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate with Vanilla (both NSA), and Milk Chocolate with Vanilla Snow. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that all basically the same thing?? There was also Dragonfruit which is a sour sugary mess - more like Italian Ice than a sorbet - I think they aimed high with an expensive fruit and went with flavoring instead. My daughter, who loves cake batter proclaimed Menchies to be "gross". The toppings - Fruity Pebbles, Mike & Ikes, etc... The M&Ms were full size and not minis - hard on the teeth once they freeze...I don't think I saw any nuts...My 2 kids and I got yogurt cups, bill was $18. One little had chocolate and vanilla with rainbow sprinkles - nothing exciting because she couldn't find anything she wanted to put on it. Ended up throwing one cup away because the other little couldn't get through it - when we went to the "other" fro-yo place in the area, she actually asked for more, she loved it so much. I found when eating my yogurt, it had no flavor after the second bite, unlike the other places, where I could taste the strawberry all the way to the bottom of the cup. I'm old school - frozen yogurt should have a tartness that ice cream doesn't have. Menchies is just a tasteless, sugary bowl of "cold". Oh, and the employees were "vacant". We wanted to sample flavors and I had to ask for the 2 flavors I wanted to try 3 times. Save yourself an expensive eye-rolling experience by going to the other place. read more

This yogurt place has many more options than others in the area. Big plus is they have the rainbow sprinkles in a scoop container as opposed to a bottle. The bottle dispenser is annoying, if I'm paying for this I want all the sprinkles I can get, not have a place basically restrain my sprinkle usage. They are also much cheaper than other places in the area and the store is cleaner. There is plenty of outside seating and they even have a kid room, which is awesome. Only thing they need to keep up on is the trash, both cans outside were over flowing. Other than that, great experience! read more

I've been here several times as it is very close to my home. I am always slightly disappointed by the flavor selection. My favorite flavor is banana but they rarely have it. Not sure why I keep torturing myself and returning here, perhaps because of convenience, because the frozen yogurt is next to awful. Today I tried two of my go-to flavors - good old strawberry and mango. The strawberry tasted like cough syrup, which was tolerable, but the mango did not taste like mango at all. The only reason I was able to choke it down (after all, I did spend $6) is because I added a variety of toppings to my cup. It would also be nice if Menchie's at least offered a greater selection of fresh toppings. Two of the fresh toppings available were either low (browned mangos) or empty. They certainly have a great number of unhealthier choices (ie. various candies, cheesecake and brownie pieces). I think next time I'll drive the 10 minutes to Sweet Frog instead. read more

I love Menchies, especially this one. The owner is so kind. I had mono and was looking for something I could bare to swallow, most cold stuff still burned. After trying a few flavors without much luck he brought me a large container of sherbet from the freezer & told me to keep it for free and get well soon. Great froyo place in Abingdon! Affordable and many unique flavor options. The honeydew was my favorite flavor, followed by the creamy cake batter. The toppings are also great (they even have cool whip!), but could have a better variety. Also a very convenient location.
