Why are the employees at Menards so different? I have shopped every dept and the only decent help is paint and cabinets. Why do the rest run away, not look you in the eye, not give a smile, act like someone else is controlling them, its really weird. Its very stressful to shop there, you never know whos going to piss you off by acting like scared little children with some kind of mental disorder, just cant figure it out. I rented a carpet cleaner for 24 hours. The receipt said I rented it at 11:48 am. I returned it to the store and had to wait at customer service while at least two employees were working on something else. Another lady came and said she could help. By now it was after 11:48 am. She said it wasn't cleaned well enough and I accepted that. My husband cleaned it and missed some stuff on the roller. Extra $20, that was fair. Then she asked for my name and was checking me in so she could charge me and because it was after 11:48 I was charged for another day! I asked if that was normal since I was waiting here and she said she checked it in. So, I spent an extra $40 for another day. Was back in my car at 11:59, My new receipt has a time of 11:58 am. Wow! Great customer service! Getting charged an extra day for waiting at customer service!! I won't be shopping there again. read more

The equivalent of the local Home Depot or Loews (on the same big 13th Ave as the rest), this store has always had a very consistent level of customer support and provided a great deal of help with home improvement or repair recommendations. Prices here are slightly better than the competitors, too. I remembered when driving to the back to pick up the heavy wood planks and 2x4's and more was an adventure in and of itself. This used to be located behind West Acres. They've moved to this newer, larger location sometime in the 2000's. read more

This place has gone down hill significantly over the last 3 years. Staff is almost if not as bad as Home Depot staff but close. The amount of bureaucracy for purchases is sure to make government agencies jealous. The return process is ridiculous and restocking fees are out of hand. I get theft is an issue. Add some security scanners at the doors instead of giving actual customers hassle. The way they fell for the COVID fear mongering was disturbing. Menards is one of the staples of Fargo Culture, and a fine Hardware store. They often provide options that you cannot find in the other mainstream Hardware franchises, allowing for comparison shopping as well as providing products from local manufacturers that cannot be found anywhere else; except online. They are knowledgable in what products they carry as well as those they don't, and will happily point you in the right direction to find what you need from another vendor. read more

Great selection of products. If you need it, they generally have it. You do have to know what you are looking for though. If you know what you are after the staff can point you in the right direction. I used to buy wood pellets from menards for my pellat stove but found them more conveniently located elsewhere. Please put large carts right buy the bags of heavy things that people usually buy more than one of. It is no fun to have to go all the way over to the lumbe section, search for a cart, then go all the way over to the heating section to pick up a few bags. read more

I was interested in completing a landscaping job at my house and they helped me do cost effectively. The staff was great, they loaded my car with 22 bags of cedar mulch. I came in, hoping to find an employee who could help me find a product and answer my questions. About twelve employees walked past me, all of them running away as fast as they could so they probably didn't have to answer my questions. Needless to say I am not happy with this particular store. You employ people to stack items and do returns and that type of thing but also part of your reason of employing people is for customer service, which you guys did absolutely terrible at. I'm in the parking lot o of Menards right now I just had one of the worst experiences of my life keep in mind I've spent at least two grand this year so far there and 6500 last year all home repair stuff I was just about to leave with some paint stripper and things for my deck when I was surrounded by three cops they said that the people at Menards that you had told them that I was shoplifting they pressed me right in the aisle they took everything out of my pockets my jacket the whole bet it took about 20 maybe 30 minutes for them to do all the stuff the whole time at you asking me where is the stuff I stole . Don't waste your time with this store. Go to Moorhead. The staff at Fargo wouldn't even look for a tub that they said they had in stock. The staff wanted me to order it and wait 15 days because they didn't want to check stock. The Moorhead store has friendly staff. They even had the tub waiting on a cart for us. Menards has always been our go-to place for home projects and we've had some minor instances in the past but our most recent project really takes disappointment to a new level. We are building deck (~$6k value) and had planned it to be a 2-3 week project. We took multiple trips to Menards for project planning, they would never call us back with the cost when they said they would. The paperwork was always lost and the pricing was off when they found it. At one point the workers were laughing at all of the people's projects they found in pile of papers while searching for ours, that must not have gotten a call back. Very unprofessional! We finally picked our material and had to wait for it to be special ordered and delivered. We noticed part way through the build that we were short a few posts, called Menards and were told the video footage shows the posts being loaded on the truck (A. That feels like an accusation that we are lying and B. What would we be doing with 2 extra posts? We paid for the number of posts we need per the decking plans created at Menards). The specialty order on the posts took a few weeks to come in. Had our contractor come back to finish after that and realized the railings they sent are 2 ft short and the project is again on hold while they order the right size, another 2 weeks out. We specifically talked with the worker about the railing size when ordering and was told the smaller length was what was needed. So now we have paid our contractor for 2 days he was unable to work and our 2-3 week project will take about 2 months from start to finish due to Menards disorganization and having to reorder specialty parts. We like the 11% rebates and have done quite a few large projects through them but this will be our last. read more

Prices and selection are better than Lowes and Home Depot and if you do find someone who knows what they are talking about it is good--otherwise you are better off using Google to find out what you need and just going to get it. read more

Horrible delivery policy. They charge $169 and will only drop items in your garage, if you want anything more done then that then its another $50 on top original fee even for just one step into the house. Totally ridiculous. Other places are so much better. Lowes and Ashley furniture deliver for half this cost with no extra fees and will put stuff wherever you like. read more
