I purchased a closet system. I paid with my debit card. Lowe's submitted two holds on my card, both for the full amount of the purchase. I called the Fargo store and was told that nothing could be done at the local level. Fargo gave me a toll free number which I called and, after 21 minutes on the phone there, I was informed that the additional hold would stay in place but would go away in 3 to 10 days. In other words, my debit card has been charged double for the purchase and the corporate answer was, essentially, 'don't worry, the extra hold will eventually go away'. Meanwhile, if I use my card, the additional hold will undoubtedly affect approval of future purchases on the card. read more

I was in the Fargo store on Monday and purchased a refrigerator. They were going to have it delivered on Tuesday which I thought was super fast. Tuesday morning they called and said they were on their way. It would be there in a couple minutes after about 15 minutes I called them back and they said they were out front. They were not, they were at the wrong address but claimed they weren't. They said dispatch would call me , it ring not even a full ring and they hung up before I could answer (I did try to call that number back and you ) so I called the driver back and they said dispatch called you, but you didn't answer we can't do anything. So I called the store. They have no way of contacting dispatch or the drivers. They sent an email which no one ever replied to try and send them back. It got returned to the store on Tuesday night. They didn't have another opening for delivery until Thursday Wednesday night they were supposed to call and let me know a window of time for delivery they did not. Thursday morning I called the store. They gave me a window of time for the delivery. I can't even begin to tell you how many phone calls, how many different people I talk to get the fridge delivered. I can't even remember how many times they disconnected me or I got hung up on or I was on hold for over 20 minutes at a time. This has been the most frustrating experience you can imagine. On Thursday they did finally deliver the fridge but when they left, they took the hose that the appliance guy made me buy, even though I said I wouldn't need it. So another phone call to the store another time being disconnected, but they were able to return that item over the phone. I can say that their customer service a seams like they're trying it does seem like they actually care. It's their third-party delivery that is the issue I will never have anything delivered from them again if you do decide to go with their delivery, make sure that you have a few days to mess around with them because it takes a lot of time and effort to get what you paid for. read more

I bought a snow blower 2 winters ago at a different big-box store. The battery that came with it stopped working (it wouldn't accept a charge). I went to the other big box store and asked them if they could replace the battery or give me a refund. They said they couldn't. They directed me to their online store. They said they also couldn't help. The battery company (Toro) also said they couldn't help. I went back into the other big-box store and they direct me to Lowe's as they had picked up the contract for Toro. I met Lisa in customer service. While she wasn't able to replace my battery or get me a refund she was just really courteous and overall helpful. It is obvious to see why she went into customer service. She does a really good job at it. I had chosen the other store due to location to my house but would think about coming back as a result of her service. Thank you Lisa in customer service! read more

I hated to rate Lowe's in Fargo with a one but they don't give you the option of a zero. Lowe's was advertising hello replacement windows for 20% off. I took the time to measure my windows and drove 75 MI arriving at Lowe's at 2: 40 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon. No one in the window department knew how to special order windows. They told me Dave was the only sales associate that could do it but he wouldn't be back for about an hour. After nearly an hour and a half Dave showed up and immediately started making phone calls. In between calls I told him that I needed to order windows and that I have been waiting for an hour and a half already. His reply was, "I've got a few calls I've got to make first it'll be about a half an hour". I walked out of Lowe's and will never be a customer there again. It's amazing how you can walk in a store to buy $15,000 worth of replacement windows and be treated like a leper. read more

I had no choice as everywhere else was sold out of boxes and duct tape. They are not Apple or Android friendly in terms of paying. In this day and age it's amazing that a big box store like Lowe's could be so far behind. I ordered a dishwasher online and paid for old one to be hauled away. It would not let me add installation to the order so I had to fill out a form and wait for someone to call me. They called the next day but said something about the purchase time being "out of their window." They offered to connect me to the person who could help. I got disconnected. I called the store and was transferred from the appliance department to "someone in installation" to someone in South Carolina and finally to the right person but they kept saying, "You forgot to purchase the installation?" and told me the only person that could help was not there. Then suddenly they appeared, did not talk to me personally but I could hear the conversation - "She forgot to purchase installation." I was then told I had to go online and CANCEL the order that was supposed to be delivered in two days and reorder with the installation added! At that point we decided to install it ourselves. Delivery - was asked if Saturday was okay. I told THREE different people that Saturday afternoon was fine but not the morning. Got a text that the dishwasher would be delivered in the morning. Fortunately for Lowes, I was sick so stayed home that morning. Dishwasher arrived at 7:45 - was supposed to be between 8 and noon. The man was nice but spoke little English - "It uninstall?" I said no. "Cannot uninstall." So the old dishwasher is still here. I will NEVER buy an appliance from Lowes again and hope to never buy anything, even a screw from them. My wife was trying to return a shed that we put together that was terrible and did not hold up at all. We called customer service to ensure it could be returned and once returned it to the store they said they would not refund us. My wife went while I stayed home with the kids because it was purchased on her card so she had to be there. She called me crying because they had terrible customer service and she felt they treated her like that because she was a women. read more

WOW! I've waited to see if they would get things straightened out, but.. they haven't! We made an appointment to order carpet.. I showed up, and and they said, "I'm so sorry! She went home early today, and she's the only one that can do it." I REscheduled, and got it ordered. Got it 6 weeks later, only to find out THEY MEASURED IT WRONG! I called today (1.5 weeks later) to get an update. They JUST ordered it again YESTERDAY! Our house is in shambles, and we're sleeping in our child's room until it gets here (and they know this!) My daughter ordered carpet through this place, they have had many mix ups from the get go....appointment made to order carpet...customer shows up, just to find out when customer arrived that the person the appointment was made with had left early for the day. Made another appointment, ordered carpet. The carpeting was suppose to be laid mid December, still no carpeting the 1st week of January. Finally they come to install it after, just to find out carpeting was cut wrong. A week and a half later customer calls to get update and they proceed that the carpet had just been re ordered the day before. This company has no communication with their customers unless the customer calls this business to get answers. This family has been sharing rooms since middle of December and house being torn apart waiting on this carpeting to be installed in LR and bedrooms, and this place of business has known this. They are in no hurry to fix the problems. They wanted all their money up front before the carpet was ordered, maybe had they not received their money upfront they would be trying to solve the issues faster. read more

I went into Lowe's to buy a chaise lounge that I had seen on the website. I was directed to Lawn and Garden. There were 2 cashiers working but one left so the one left had a line up. I finally got him to check the lounger and the price. They were all stacked up. I looked around and finally found someone to wait on me to get one unpacked and down. This took 15 minutes to find someone - after finding her she couldn't get the lounger unpacked or down. So she called for help - this took another 15-20 minutes. In the meantime, my husband unpacked the lounger and took it down off the stack by ourselves. When someone did show up to help they said they would take it to the register. It never did show up at the front register. I finally said forget it and left the store after wasting 45 minutes and struggling with unpacking a lounger. I went home and ordered the a different better quality lounger from Overstock.com and it was only $7.00 more and free shipping. This is why stores are losing out to on line shopping. Will check on line from now on and not waste my time and frustration in a store. read more

I was on a quest to help my 86 yr old mother replace her electric range. After being ignored or patronized by several appliance dealers in the Fargo/Moorhead area (including one who suggested we give him a tip for helping us...gag..), we stopped in at Lowe's. Terry (I later learned he was the dept mgr), could not have been more helpful, informative and respectful to my mom. The range we ultimately bought (after leaving and later returning to make the purchase), was what my mom wanted. He went the extra mile and found the range online with no pressure to purchase. read more

I admit that I shop at other home improvement places as well but Lowe's is the best in Fargo. They are fair with pricing. I usually find what I need. The staff is great! Have done a lot of building and remodeling in the last couple years and it is nice to know their staff can be counted on to help. It is nice to walk through the store and be greeted, to have them ask if they can help. You don't have to hunt people down and I have yet to find an employee with an attitude...how refreshing. Don't go through Lowes to get flooring. Lowe's subcontracts with the flooring company installers. It took forever for the installer to call to make an appointment for the measurements. Once the carpet came into the store the installer scheduled the install fairly quickly. The people that actually installed the carpet took no care of our home. When the installers took the roll of carpet down our stairs they scuffed our paint and took a chuck of paint of the ceiling! They said it would take 6-7 hours for install and it took 3. There was ZERO clean up by the installers and they tracked mud, snow, water, sand, etc into our house. They didn't but on shoe covers or put a tarp down to walk on to save our other flooring. We have since discovered that the carpet is defective and there are fibers missing in a section of the carpet. Lowe's said they have to start a claim with the flooring company. That was four weeks ago so I called for status update and was told the Install Manager Susan would call me back and she hasn't. I will NEVER shop at Lowe's again and I will not be referring people to them either!!! read more
