TERRIBLE! Ordered $3500 worth of bath vanities. During Covid I accepted the 2.5 month delivery wait. Once that date passed and I called, they didn't know I ordered it even with all my documentation and receipts. 3 MONTHS LATER the vanities came after multiple calls to menards and the vendor. Menards online took 2 weeks to respond to all emails. Vendor was helpful but clearly stated Menards should never have had this product online. Product showed up with many issues and my contractor had to modify most products delivered. Also, water heater ordered was massively damaged even in a new box. So 3 Mexicans decide to throw up a big wood fence (true story) So they decide to go to the New Menards on North ave.................. And In AWE they were as they stepped foot inside!!!!!!!! Psst, Sprecher soda fans in Chicago! You need a sudden fix of whatever Sprecher sodas you crave, and you're sad you can find such a limited variety at Jewel, or whatever other grocery store you normally go to? Come here, and you can stock up beyond your wildest needs. It's even a Menards w/a better than expected food selection, and I certainly have to think this is a small beacon to hope to nearby 'food desert' neighborhoods struggling with attracting something better than run of the mill corner stores. (and of couse, know it doesn't solve their probs, but seeing selection like this has to at least mean something) They even have a greeter at this store, something I rarely have seen at many Menards, and certainly not at the Clybourn location. Obviously this blows the Clybourn location away by a great bit, but isn't as non-car friendly. If by some weird chance you don't drive here, I will warn that the store is a lot closer to Kostner Ave. than it is North Ave. Just a heads-up, if you do take the bus here. Seriously, do everything in your power to drive(like I did w/others) or Zipcar your way to this one! read more

I worked in Menards for a month and they discriminating me with my hair and told me I couldn't have the hair color that I have. they embarrass me in front of employees and workers and came up to me in the middle of my shift and disturbed my working and decided to tell me I couldn't have that hair color even though I got hired with it. Menards discriminates and they are terrible. they yelled at me in front of everybody and made a scene and that's when I quit. read more

We've had a hell of a week/ weekend. I will spare you the details but let's just say that the drain declogger crystals that I needed to purchase did not live up to it's name. It claimed to be safe for all pipes...it ate a hole in ours in less than 10 minutes. My husband decided that this was the perfect opportunity to replace our sink. We were over the pedestal style and wanted something different. My bathroom has been the bane of my existence, anything would be an improvement. I had exactly in my mind what I was looking for, the brand, dimensions, etc. It was available at Menards, Lowes and Home Depot but each one was slightly different. I have to admit that I was annoyed and offended by the clerk on duty. He offered a low end and a high end version of the particular vanity that I was interested in. I found the higher end version cheaper at their competitor and apparently he did not believe me and wanted to argue. I didn't bring it up to haggle. I just wanted to know if they carried it in a 30" because blah blah was out of stock and they sold it for $$. I was personally done with the conversation and already decided that I would not purchase my vanity there. My husband went along with the clerk and let him go into detail that the inside hinges were better, and that the model had legs where the one that I was comparing probably did not.. I really didn't give a damn. I was done. Aside from the bathroom department, this Menards is worth going to if you have a project and want to find more options. After dealing with customer service I was told the order was shipped and received already so I should order another item. No refund or reorder of what I had ordered was done. So now I will have to go elsewhere to try and get the project done so I can finally give my parents their gift. read more

Okay, I don't have a home and I'm very illiterate when it comes to home improvement, if you know what I mean (Menards is for people with homes, not apartments, like me), but when I came here last night, I came here looking for some onion seeds for my church pastor so he can start his garden this year. Because of the cleanliness, ease of navigation, and pricing of merchandise at this place, I'm definitely coming back here for anything that I may need for either myself or someone else. Many ACE/True Value hardware stores are independently owned and operated and do not normally have many of the things I'm looking for. And when they do have them, their prices are higher than at Menards. So, when it comes to anything for around the house, apartment maybe, or whatever, go to Menards. Don't waste your time with the local hardware stores. P.S. I've known Menards for years and one of the things I've always liked about Menards is its salespapers in the Sunday newspaper. I was in Menards at The Highlands in Triadelphia, WV the other day looking for a few nuts and bolts. I was at a bit of a trial and error to begin with figuring out sizes and what not. As I am walking through the isles looking for such items I could not find an associate. When I finally did find one they couldn't help me due to it being out of their department... what ever that means. He was also on his cellphone tapping away.. Eventually I ended up back in the appliance and cabinets where there was an older gentleman working. He told me he was new, but would help get me in the right direction. I was very much pleased with his customer service and the way he made it a point to help me out even if it was "out of his department". Thank you again for your hospitality older gentlemen in cabinets and appliance. As for the cell phone tapping and I don't work in that department people shame on you! Menards might I suggest a little training in PR for your associates or maybe even raise the age of hire. read more

My father has a long standing relationship with Menards and has spending at least six figures over the years. When COVID-19 started the mask policy didn't exist. So i go in one day and the mask Nazi child at customer service was very rude and immediately offered to call the manager I hadn't even asked him to. I let the manager know I have severe asthma and he was very rude to me and I don't know which one piped up and said well you can just shop on line then. they lost all my respect and a good customer right there. I'll take his advice whichever one said it. My wife is a COVID-19 nurse specifically she wears a mask to prevent possible transmission and it is publicly known that asymptomatic carriers are not contagious to begin with. when all is said and done people will understand the truth for themselves i won't attempt to raise that issue here however i will be buying a Bane mask for the next petty tyrant i run into. I never had to explain this to any other store however so this just sickens me to no end read more

The bonus: This Menards is H-U-G-E, and has a play area in the middle of it, so while my partner is wandering around in some someday-I'll-tear-down-a-wall-or-build-a-deck fantasy world (boring!) I can take my child to "the park" and 2 out of 3 visitors are having a great time. Also, Home Depot has dubious politics, so in my own fantasy world I like to think that spending my money here makes a difference somewhere. The terrible: We ordered a BOATLOAD of lumber from them (not cheap!) and arranged to have it delivered. Not only did they come 3 hours after the promised time range, but they refused to put the lumber in our backyard, leaving it in the alley instead. When my partner called to ask that they come back and finish the delivery, the guy on the phone actually started yelling, saying we didn't tell them it was supposed to go somewhere their forklift wouldn't fit. Huh? We aren't really sure how we were supposed to know we needed to ask about that, considering there are no signs about forklifts when you place a delivery order. Blah blah blah... eventually they came back, but not for another hour, during which we had to sit in the alley and babysit our wood. read more

Well I moved to my apt with me n my wife on july. Well we had to make copies of the keys. So I took them to walmart to get some copies, got home, doors wouldn't open. So went back and got my money back. So to home depot I went, same thing happen as in walmart. So I remember that there's a menards neraby. So got into the car an I went to it. So went to where they make copies, took me a few minutes to find the person that was doing the keys, the store is HUGE, so unlike my 2 previous attempts to get keys, I see they use a machine that makes the copies an the saleperson doesn't do anything, great! So I got home an it turns out the clerk used a smaller key than mine. An hence the 4 stars n not the 5. But went back, found the clerk, an in less than 5 minutes I was out of there with identical keys as the original. And they worked! read more

Caveat Emptor....Buyer beware! Worst return policy and customer service! 53 days after receiving a wood flooring delivery from the Long Grove IL Menards store, I tried returning 22 boxes of overage. I was Shocked and Appalled to find that Menards would not refund the credit of $1622.33 to my credit card. Instead, I was given a Menards Merchandise store credit. The flooring was not in stock at the time the order was placed, however, I was advised to pay in full and take advantage of a rebate offer. My Signed order does not state anything regarding a store merchandise credit being issued for product returned after 90 days. As a matter of record, my return was 90 days & 9 hrs after payment and only 53 days after receiving the order. I do not need a store credit of $1622.23...I need the funds to pay my contractor! I would give Zero Stars if that were possible. I purchased a garage door opener from Menards expecting to receive a rebate from them, but instead someone else received the rebate and redeemed it. In this day and age , why is Menards not being more responsible to their customers and at the very least putting the customers name on the credit check(rebate slip) not just the out side of the card and requiring ID to use. In this day and age where theft and fraud are out of control that would be more responsible. Also, why do they put REBATE INTERNATIONAL on the outside of the card for everyone to know exactly what is on the inside. I reached out to the store where the credit check was redeemed and all I got was NOTHING!! Obviously, they don't care who uses the credit check as long as someone is spending money there. A couple of years ago I purchased a house in a nearby neighborhood and this Menards has been my go-to location for several home improvement projects. I've gotten everything here: ceiling fans, dog toys, bird seed, a toilet, plants, patio furniture...you get the idea. This is the only place in Chicago that carries my favorite Sprecher soda and I've made special trips here, just for that. The workers are helpful and the prices are better than their competitors. I went to the St Peters, Missouri Menards store today to buy 72 - 8' and 12' planks of lumber. I recently had a hip replacement and needed assistance loading them into the cart. The first 2 store associates I asked told me it was self service and walked away. I loaded the 12' planks from the lower level myself. The 8" planks were on an upper level up a flight of steps. I tried to lay the over the side but the height was too much. I made 1 trip down the upper isle and down the steps. But, it was too much. I again went in search of someone and finally found an associate would let me hand them over the rail and down. As soon as this was done he walked away. I had to push the cart myself to the checkout and asked for assistance to load into my vehicle. I told the cashier that I had recently had hip surgery. She said no one was available. I pushed the cart outside to load my purchase. The customer who was behind me in line came out and helped me load my purchase. (Thank You Rick from O'Fallon.) This will be my last purchase from Menards. If they will not help their customers with large bulk items. I will not help them with their business. Is there a less than zero that I can give Menards. I have a medical exemption for a mask, and even though I understand that you cannot go in there without it their employees and management allowed me to shop for 2 hours. I talked to multiple employees no one said a word they waited until my husband and I paid for almost $200 worth of stuff and then caused a huge scene about me not wearing a mask. even though I stated I understand your policy and we are leaving we will never be back the employee continued to scream and yell and carry on until the whole store was staring. just so everybody knows you can go to Home Depot they will price match and you will get their 11% discount. My husband went back in and returned the whole cart full of merchandise all they had to do was have somebody up front like normal businesses do and let you know that they don't even accept a medical exemption. I will never shop a Menards again and neither will anybody else I know and I know a lot of people. read more

Menards had a list of contractors to use for installation that the public can use. Don't use the contractors or if you do vet them first and get more information about them. My experience was exuberant fees. I had one guy Chris Johnson wanted to charge me $1350 to install an exterior door. Told me it wasn't that easy of a job. One guy Don Steele came over and ripped off the wrap on the door frame and left. He didn't fix it back. He didn't know what he was doing. Told me the door I ordered wouldn't fit when I had a pro come measure for the door and it was the exact door that was being replaced. He wanted to take the door out of the brickmold and install it that way. Do your due diligence. I got lucky and found a contractor in my neighborhood working on a house. Be patient and see what good things come your way. Don't settle for contractors that have to get jobs from big box stores including Lowes and Home Depot. read more

MENARDS IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! First of all the whole masks are required thing is absolutely ridiculous. Then the lovely customer service lady that yelled at me twice while trying to put my mask on whole holding my daughter, a shopping cart cover and trying to sit my daughter in the cart so I could actually put the mask on. Oh and her own coworkers weren't even wearing masks?! And a man came in behind me without a mask and she didn't say one word to him. Love that. And even better we are wanting to get flooring and they DO NOT HELP AT ALL. They told my husband to go get a cart and he could load 45 packs of flooring all by himself. We went to simply pick up a package and we were lead around the store, not know where to go and we asked various times where the pickup is, and every time we were lead to a new place. BUYER BEWARE! I placed an online order at Menards, making sure to change my shipping address BEFORE I ordered because I had recently moved. Menards' website divided the one order into two orders, shipping from two different locations. One was shipped to my old address and one was shipped to my new address. Menards refuses to take responsibility for the one misdirected to my old address; they won't refund the cost; they won't reship the item (that cost about $1.69); customer "service" keeps telling me it was my fault. First time I visited the store I was so impressed with the staff. However that visit tainted with my bad experience on how they process store purchases and delivery. I purchased lumber supplies a week ago and scheduled for delivery that week which was cancelled and rescheduled 4days later which was cancelled again due to unavailability of the item. What? Unavailability of the item!They let me purchased and they scheduled it for delivery and now they are saying they're not available. What kind of transaction was that? Then when you call them which goes directly to call center at Wisconsin they will let you wait for a long time and still not get any answer. Poor customer service and poor delivery processing. I think this is definitely the best Menards in the city. The one on Clybourn is smaller and I always felt like it was harder to find employees in each department to help you out. As a new-ish homeowner, I spend a lot of time in hardware stores, which I really don't like. This Menards has always provided great customer service, which is great for me, a hardware laymen. I never really know anything about the home improvement projects I take on but I've found that the employees here are knowledgeable and willing to answer all of my dumb questions. Menards also has a wonderful return/exchange policy. I buy a lot of little things because I never really know what I need and then I end up returning stuff because I only needed one something or other. Near the customer service counter there's a little kiosk where you can reprint receipts if you paid with a credit card or check which is great for me since I never save receipts. I can reprint one really quick and then return/exchange whatever extra item I purchased in trying to fix something in my house. They also took back a Christmas tree that I purchased in November because several layers of the lights stopped working (even though it was pre-lit). I was very sad because I tried to replace the bulbs to no avail and I was disappointed because it was pretty expensive and why buy pre-lit when I just have to put my own lights on anyway? Menards was super cool about it and even took it back with no box. I got a full refund back to my credit card (and still had like a three week window to return it if necessary). This Menards also has a HUGE garden center in the summer, humongous holiday decoration center in the fall/winter, and furniture the rest of the year. I didn't even know Menards sold living room furniture! At good prices, too! Menards is now my go-to home improvement store because the customer service is top and they have literally everything you could ever imagine, including 12 packs of cheap Lacroix and canning supplies. read more

I shopped at the livonia menards 9/8/20 with no mask due to a medical reason. On 9/13/20 I needed to return the items purchased on the 8th. I was refused service and was told to leave and return with a mask. I told Pearl the manager, I have a medical reason I can not wear a mask and I was assisted by several employees on the 8th without a mask when purchasing the items. she was rude and didn't care. she wouldn't take my return.. my family will not be shopping at this place again. read more

Long story short, it cost me a fortune to fix all their mistakes . It took almost a year of fighting customer service to get my kitchen done. I was given NOTHING for the troubles they caused. Menards ordered my cupboards wrong three times, they over charged me on the returns, I purchased a fridge which was defective and froze all my groceries. The delivery company ruined my new floors when delivering the fridge and broke my door. My cupboards still don't fit and they have refused to fix anything or offer discounts. I contacted John Menards who apologized and then passed me off to customer service supports who asked me to fill out a ton of paperwork. I went through all of this and they said they wouldn't give me any compensation because "they don't compensate for inconvenience, delays, or incidentals." It cost me a fortune to fix all of their mistakes. I am a widow, single mom, and teacher. I tried to be understanding and kind through all of this and they took full advantage by screwing me over in the end. They acted liked they cared and then kept passing me from one person to the next. I bought my Christmas tree on Sunday evening, cut the bottom, kept it watered and after 6 days I have a half bare tree. The needles are carpeting my floor, I can't decorate because it will have no needles left. I called the store to ask for a refund and they don't refund even when the product is clearly so bad. I have never had a tree lose needles like this in a week. I now have to dispose of this tree and get a new one so I will have decent tree for Christmas. I am so angry, this is the worst Christmas tree I have ever bought and after Menard's clearly could have cared less I will not be shopping there again. read more

If you order online for delivery, they are pretty bad. They often have advertised discounts that you dont get online, but the WORST is the confiscatory "processing fees" and shipping. When leaving the store on Hilliard Rome Rd in Hilliard Ohio earlier today, I was blocked from leaving the parking lot at the stoplight by a large flatbed delivery truck. He completely blocked me from making a left turn onto Hilliard Rome road. He stopped the truck across the exit and would not move. It was a large truck so I had to back all the way up to the main part of the parking lot to allow him to come in even though the light was about to change so I could have moved and he would have had LOTS of room to come in. He could have waited, there were not any cars behind him. That location really needs an entrance for deliveries, especially for trucks that large. I felt threatened and unsafe. When he stopped the truck he blew his horn several times and said something that was not very polite. I will not be shopping at that store again which is unfortunate because of its convenience to where I live. read more
