Your customer service is subpar and the company's unwillingness to see beyond extenuating circumstances regarding the ridiculous return policy is laughable. You capitalize on a return policy that truly disregards customers that don't live in the area. Menards has good products, but getting help is rather difficult. I went to purchase smoke detectors and was told Menards didn't have what I needed. So - I drove down to Home Depot, got some good help, and purchased over $375 worth of smoke detectors and accessories. Menards had these same items in stock. On the one hand, I love Menards. On the other ... customer service leaves something to be desired. I was looking for gate hinges. I searched the store but couldn't find them. I went to the contractor's desk. The guy pointed in the general direction and said, "they're in hardware." I went to that area. I found door hinges but no gate hinges. After searching that area for a while, I went to a nearby help desk. There were two employees there chatting. Again I asked. Again one pointed in the general direction and said, "those are in hardware." Frustrated, I said, "I've been through there three times. I found door hinges but not gate hinges." The other one chimed in, "they're right by the door hinges." They then went back to their conversation. I was boiling. I eventually found them not anywhere near the door hinges. My point is what would have been so tough about taking this obviously frustrated customer to what he was looking for -- especially after he said he'd been through the are three times. read more

We called to rent a sanding machine for our floors and all went well until we got into the shop. Not only did they know NOTHING about their rental equipment but they were also zero help about ANY questions. In fact, when we asked questions they said that "We aren't supposed to know." AWFUL! When asking for HELP from supervisor they said that "They can't come up." Will never use again. ALSO, THEY NEVER TEST their rental equipment so BEWARE read more

This Menards had been such a favorite of mine until an expensive bag of cat food apparently fell off my cart on my way to my car. Surveillance tapes had to be reviewed. Who's going to believe me? Of course whoever found it kept it. Thank you for that. It was not their responsibility to replace it once it left the store according to the general manager. I would think that they would want to hold on to good customers. I had just spent $250!!! It's Lowe's for me from here on out. read more

Kudos to Colton, yard associate at Menards South Lincoln. Twice now, Colton was more helpful than any salesperson I've encountered in over 20 years. I let him know what I was looking for, he made a few recommendations, and had the load ready to go before I had paid and returned to the yard in my truck. Both times he was able to load me up in just a few minutes, saving me hours of time. (On my second visit, Larry in building material had my ticket made up in minutes.) You need more people like Colton and Larry. Their help will keep me coming back. read more

I found out today that if you buy something from Menards, and you haul it to your home , un-package it and find out they gave you the wrong item. It is your responsibility to get it back to their store. Even if it is a large item. Very surprising. The store manager admitted they screwed up but said I must get it back to their store. And they wonder why people are switching to internet shopping. read more

Here is what happened to me on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Anytime, I entered a hardware store and seek assistance, I am treated as a dumb female. Saturday was no exception. I couldn't find a sales associate for assistance, so I stop by the paint area and asked for a sales associate to be called. The woman behind the counter, was polite and called for someone. I was in the aisle where the vents are for ceiling, floors, walls. A man with a blue apron looked down the aisle. I waved at him because I assumed, he was looking for the person who needed help. I didn't yell because the aisle was full of others. He approached me and in a very annoyed tone said, "I was told duct work." I had asked the woman in the paint department to call someone to duct work because I thought that what is sign said. I showed the gray haired, overweight, Caucasian man, wearing glasses, the ceiling air vent cover that I had brought with me. He motioned to his right and told me in an annoying tone, "They are right here." I explained, that those all said floor vents. He told me the size that I need and told me to look for it. After a few minutes, he did locate it , threw it in my cart, walked off in the huff. read more

We are very unhappy with our purchase of cabinets. We were not informed that they came totally unassembled. Had we been so informed, we would never have purchased them. We would have refused them, however all we would get is store credit. We do not plan on shopping there ever again. read more

I would give Zero stars if I could because I had crappy and substandard customer service. The employees that I dealt with were listless, lazy, and completely checked out. I know that it's the holiday season, but show a little enthusiasm for crying out load. I will not be doing business with this particular store any time soon. read more

We have been long time shoppers at Menards. We've spent a lot over the years and I'm sure have saved big money. Our last visit to Menards was toady. We were going to buy an air compressor and nail gun and trim boards. Upon our entrance to the store we were told that we needed to wear a mask? If we didn't have one we would have to purchase one for $1. Profiting off a pandemic? I haven't worn a mask this whole time, and certainly am not going to be forced to wear one to go spend my money. The fact that people seem so eager to comply to wearing something that someone's touched with their unwashed hands, seems ridiculous to me. Let's not forget the facts that unless you have an N95 you are only filtering possibly 2% of air particals. And then thats only if it covers you nose and mouth. I've seen the employees with their noses hanging out! Until you have sinks and hand sanitizer, your not really doing much for anyone's safety. I'll spend a little more and go to another home supply store wear I have the freedom to choose what to put on my face. read more

Good prices and decent service. The employees won't smother you with questions and won't follow you around like you're a toddler. If you want to be coddled and pay more for lesser goods, go somewhere else. If you want to be treated like a professional, Menard's is the only place in town. read more

Sales help was nowhere to be found and the customer service desk was vague and unhelpful. I eventually found someone a few sections over and they still were unhelpful and walked away before I could ask them to call the section help. After finding the products I was looking for (on my own thank you very much), the brand I use wasn't available. Very disappointing. read more

Had horrible service walked passed a dozen employees with a confused look on my face, turning this way and that trying to figure out where things where, and none stopped to help. Was also not informed that I had to pay for my wood inside after I ordered it and gotten outside, when I specifically asked them what the process was and what I should do next. I picked 1 Star only because I can't pick ZERO,. On 07/12/2014, Our 501c3 Charity went to Menards and bought a Deck KIT... A KIT is supposed to have all the parts you need in it to build something.... Am I not correct????? This KIT was missing the very first pieces in the instructions , the J bolts and brackets to attach the footings to the concrete. They sent 18 foot boards and put 16 foot on the bill of lading. They sent post caps and not the sleeves they go on top of. They did not provide enough top and bottom railing to do the stair railings. No 1 bys to go on top of the railing as is instructed in the instructions. It had no 8 inch carriage bolts for the main support as stated to use in the instructions, straight nails not deck nails. All of this caused me to go $1000 over budget... DO NOT buy Deck KITS from Menards. read more
