I ordered some pavers online here. When I went to pick them up, Roy, helped me in the yard. He had a great attitude and even made sure I got help canceling my order when I realized some of the pavers had to be special ordered. Last Monday we went to Menards and picked up a Generac generator after the tornado because we have three freezers full of food. We immediately put it together and noticed that the fuel on/off valve was leaking so I immediately called Generac and they told me to get a wrench and tighten it 1/4 turn but not to over tighten it so I did that and it continued leaking from the valve. Generac told me I likely had a bad valve and to call Menards to look into a replacement so I called Menards. Someone at the store said it should not be a problem because we JUST bought it. Not totally trusting that information I personally went to Appleton West Menards and spoke to Angelina at the customer service counter. She assured me that I could return the generator and swap it out. I didn't want my money back I just wanted a functional generator. I went home and had to load the fuel leaking generator into the back of my RAV4 and brought it into the store where I spoke to Alivia, the front end manager. I explained my situation and she literally LAUGHED!!!!!! What the hell?!!! She smirked and said, "Uh yeah, Angelina should not have told you that!" She then told me I'd need to go to a local service center to have it serviced!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?!!! We JUST had a tornado and you think I can just run down and have a generator worked on?! I was so angry I told her to keep the stupid generator and left my phone number and told her to have a real manager call me and I left. Hours went by and it was obvious I wasn't going to get a call. My wife and I ended up going back to the store and I spoke to Neil the General Manager of the store and he said, "Uh yeah, sorry...that's our policy and there's NOTHING I DO." He just stared at me and kept apologizing and saying he couldn't help me but I could come back and get my generator and that he would let the receiving people know I would be back for it. Yesterday my wife and I went back to the Menards and because it was leaking fuel we didn't want it in the cab of our car so we had to rent the Menards truck which we discovered was $5.00 extra on weekends. You can't make this stuff up!!! Anyway we rented the truck and went to the security gate and we explained the situation to the gate person who said, "Sorry, I don't know anything about this and without a PO I can't let you through." I told him that I had the receipt and he said that the receipt would do me know good and wasn't allowed to let me in the gate. I asked him if he could call or radio someone in shipping and receiving or a manager and he said he couldn't!!!!! He literally said he could NOT contact anyone. So....i had to back the truck up and physically go inside and speak to someone in shipping and receiving and they said, "Oh yeah...just come around back." I said that we can't just come in because the guard shack dude wouldn't let us in. Neil got on the radio and told the guy to let us in which proves the gate guy absolutely could have contacted someone while we were at the gate! We finally got to shipping and receiving, got the generator loaded up and went to exit the gate and the same dude said, "Yeah...I can't let you out without the paperwork." I seriously thought I was being punked!!! This had to be a game show or something! Finally he spoke to Neil on the radio and he said to let us leave. Before we left I said, "I thought you told me you didn't have any means to contact a manager from the guard shack." You should have seen the look on his face when he realized I caught him in a lie! We finally got the generator home and unloaded and returned the truck which we had to pay for. This may actually be the worse customer service experience I have EVER had in my entire life and I've had some bad ones. I did everything I was told to do beginning with Generac to calling the store to following the information Angelina gave me and my wife were treated like dirt! We were mocked, laughed at and offered absolutely no assistance whatsoever. read more

They now let you shop without a mask, how they get you is when you try to check out. I've been going to Menards for years and never had an issue until today. After shopping for roofing materials for 45 minutes and then proceeding up to the checkout I was told my business wasn't wanted and I would not be able to buy anything without a mask. Policy made absolutely no sense because I was socially distancing and the cdc has reported it's not easily transmitted on surfaces like they first thought. Cashier refused to check me out after I told them I couldn't wear a mask because of burn pits and my time in the military. I take an inhaler and 30 minutes of a nebulizer at night. Regardless the front end cashier broke the 6 feet rule and came within 2 feet of me telling me I can shop online. She kept repeating her trained little statement about how I needed a mask to check out. Mind you this is after I had already gone through the store, breathed on everything and touched everything. Employees were not wearing gloves or eye protection yet they present themselves as little mask Gestapo storm troopers adhering blindly to their higher echelon propaganda. We should wear masks to apparently protect ourselves and others in case we should need it, ironically which is the same concept as having a concealed carried weapon in the store but Menards hypocrisy is clearly showing. Before anyone says this is a biased report I'll have you look at what their bathroom vents look like when they apparently say your health and safety is a concern. MENARDS.COM BUYERS BEWARE. We ordered a patio set from Menards.com with free shipping to the Appleton store. The Appleton store was out of stock of the color we wanted but did have another color in stock. However, the item was in stock at Menards distribution center in Eau Claire. The order arrived at Menards and my wife tried another patio chair while at the store and found the one we ordered was not the one she thought it was. The other patio set at Menards in Appleton was more money so we were going to return the set we had not picked up yet and purchase the more expensive set. NOPE! The Appleton store claims the online order from Menards.com was a "special order" and therefore subject to a 25% restocking fee! There was no way we would pay a $225 restocking fee for something that was a stock item on Menards.com. Long story short; the Appleton general manager Mr. Erickson was hard-fast that this was a special order (even though it is not stated as such in store or online) and would not back down from the 25% restocking fee. Mr. Erickson was very rude trying to prove his point which just dug himself a deeper hole. The patio furniture was made by Backyard Creations which is a registered trademark of Menards so trying to convince me that anything coming from an outside vendor is a special order. I will never, ever, order anything again from Menards.com and will have to think long and hard before stepping foot in that store again. The top two national hardware stores exist in the same city so why would I want to return to Menards again to feel that berated by the GM. read more

awful awful AWFUL customer service when something goes wrong. Ordered some custom countertops from there. One of them arrived badly damaged. These clowns inform me that the only way to file an official customer complaint is to write a HAND WRITTEN LETTER and send it via snail mail. It's 2022, why on Earth couldn't this have been done via phone or email?? Because they purposely do this, hoping the customer just gives up from the hassle and moves on. Well I didn't give up, I jumped through all their B.S. hoops for nearly 6 months and still ended up with no reimbursement whatsoever. Customer service failed tonight. It started with an incorrect price posted in the clearance section... then when I figured out the problem... yes I had to go and figure it out... they didn't really care, so I'm okay I'll just return the item. Well I paid with a $15 gift card and $65 cash. The item I was returning was $10... I wanted cash back, but they could only offer store credit. What? Needless to say I had to return it all to get my cash and $15 in store credit back... then I thought the manager would realize I actually wanted the rest of what I was returning... He started putting it back into carts. They just lost a long time customer. Also, they showed no care for the next customer by going back to clearance and fixing the pricing issue they have. But why would they I had to go check myself a second time to confirm I was right on the price. read more

No one to help load in the lumber yard, I placed my order online and then get an email that not only states I have to go to a different store than where I originally placed it but I would also have to pick it myself. They always have helpful customer service - esp in the electrical area. We typically only buy things when they are on sale as their sales rotate quickly, and you can find everything on sale if you have a little patience. They also have a fantastic rebate program that allows you to get many items for free. read more

Finally after some aggravation and poor service by a long brown haired woman named 'Chris'. Chris was rude, sarcastic and did not help me at all. How hard is it to sell me paint! If I could give a negative rating I would. I purchased an air compressor, brad nailer, and fittings combo kit. The first 1 I brought home was missing the brad nailer, the second 1 I purchased was missing all the fittings. When I called and asked for a manager the lady I spoke with said there's nothing they can do. I would have to come back and replace it. So my wife emailed costumer service and his response was I quote "Sorry, I'll check. Brad" Horrible customer service. I will not be wasting any more time or money on this store. read more

Today I stopped at the Integrity Way location in Appleton like I usually do. Bought items that I would have to pick up in the yard. I let the gate person know I needed help loading. I heard an announcement go over the PA twice for assistance. As I was waiting for someone to load the items for me I observed a employee behind my car stacking pallets and putting items away. By the time I got out the employee was gone. Waited approx. 20 minutes and no one showed. Needless to say I loaded the items myself with my good arm. As I was driving up to the gate I observed three employees in the treated lumber building talking. This is not the first time I had problems with employees in the yard. Not a happy camper. read more

Made the mistake of going to the Menard on the west side of Appleton today Sat Aug 23rd 2016. After waiting 20 min. for help in the flooring dept. I asked 2 other workers 1 isle over for help I was told buy the 2 employees they didn't work in that dept. (They went on talking to one another). Waited a little longer and then went to the so called customer service desk and ask to talk to the manager at this point I was handed off to a younger male by the name of Ashton. I explained what had happened and he just looked at me with a dumb look on his face. After talking to him and realizing he had no clue of how to run a business I asked to speak to someone above him I WAS LIED TO AT THIS POINT!!! I found out he was an asst. manager and they do have a general manager (he had the day off). I do plan on talking to the manager as well as calling the corporate office on Monday. My opinion (and this is coming from someone who was a District manager for two different fortune 500 companies) Menards should do something about this problem Ashton and demote him to a different position maybe working in flooring. But all ended well HOME DEPOT was more than welling to help me. read more

I had the WORST experience at this store. I will NEVER return after j get screamed at one of the male employees supervising the cash registers. I hope this store gets closed down soon.
