Menard's can be overwhelming at times trying to look for something specific. The service provided by the staff always makes sure you are taken care of. They go above and beyond. Obviously the 11% rebate makes them a solid deal all the time. The value usually cannot be beat. The garden area is mostly well managed but there are times when they have a lot of dead stuff out there. Although there is another location closer to my home this is the one I prefer. read more

I recently purchased a $500 generator from Menards. After putting gas in it for the very first time, I discovered the gas tank leaks. Their return policy online says nothing about gas-filled items being non-returnable, but when I went back, they refused to take it. Instead, I was told to deal directly with the manufacturer, Wen. Wen's "solution" was to have me ship the entire generator back--which is impossible since it's over 100 pounds and no longer in the box. Their alternative was to send me a new gas tank and expect me to disassemble and reassemble the generator myself. For a $500 purchase, this is completely unacceptable. Menards should stand behind the products they sell and not leave customers stranded with defective equipment. Worst customer service experience I've ever had. read more

Saw a couple MEN being helped a couple towns from the little teen boys that work back there but then when I was there(((a female))) struggling with tying up stuff NOT A SINGLE employee could bother to help. I'm unhappy at the service at the Menards in Crestwood, Illinois this Sunday morning. There are staff people who are scarce, few and play avoidance games. This store is unfamiliar to me and finding someone was nearly impossible. Plus some seasonal flowers were out with no price to be found anywhere. And again no personnel to assist. I purchased a new snow blower online. Upon picking up my purchase the worker comes out with a fully assembled snowblower. Please help me to understand why my item is not in a box? He stated that it was the last one and it was a floor model. Given that the item was not brand new and in a box I asked for a discount. He contacted the manager who declined my request. I was expected to receive an item as new that has been on displayed . The manager's argument is that the snow blower had never been used. To my knowledge menards does not sell used items so it is the expectation that everything purchased is new. Given that the snowblower clearly was not new, why was I not entitled to a discount. Menards has such poor customer service. All they care about is profit. read more

Never buy an appliance that is not in stock at Menards. If it needs to be ordered don't trust the delivery date. They want you to pat in full for your order as well. I paid $3,000 cash they are sitting on my money, earning interest on my money for a refrigerator that was supposed to be delivered to the store on November 23. Called looking for my refrigerator today, December 1. New delivery date now is January 3. I am having people for Christmas and am currently using a small refrigerator from a neighbor. Screw the 11% rebate offer. Go to a regular appliance store where people know what they are doing to buy your appliances. I will be visiting the store to speak to a manager as soon as I have time. There best be some kind of compensation . So angry and frustrated.! read more

There are Menard's stores and then there are Menard's stores. The one in Crestwood, IL is unlike any other Menard's I have been in. The employees couldn't be more helpful and friendly if they tried and they know the store inside and out. If I'm in the wrong department, someone will walk me to the right department and help me find my item. I live about 1/2 way between two Menard's stores and there is no comparison with the store in Tinley Park. That store is understaffed and far less organized. I would recommend the Crestwood Menard's to anyone, even if they had a bad experience in any of the other stores. Gary R. read more

Picked up some vinyl plank flooring yesterday along will 2 gallons of paint. Both associates were very friendly and helpful. Loading all the boxes onto flatbed and taking it to the register as well. The associate in paint also found the paint immediately that I had saw online got it together and I was off. The cart lot guy also helped load the boxes into my vehicle. A very pleasant experience. I cannot shop at Menards in Crestwood anymore and it is a shame as it's less than two miles from my home. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE there and nothing but kids who couldn't care less about you, especially the cashiers and the customer service counter. I DON'T WORK FOR MENARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Therefore, I would like a little customer service. I must say that two young men helped me find a bird feeder rack after several minutes of waiting when they showed up. However, I don't have a receipt because apparently I was supposed to take it MYSELF. Again, I don't work for Menards. All this self service nonsense is for the birds as it is NOT certainly reflected in the prices. When I go to Home Depot in Alsip, I must say that I actually have people offer to help me and they will show me to the item in many cases. I have spoken to Matt the Manager on more than one occasion and he was quite supportive but it never got through to his employees. I asked the cashier to bag my items and she told me "oh we don't do that". Lazy and lazier work there and when I told the girl at the "customer service' who was totally disinterested also, she mumbled oh she should have. I bought this bird feeder and want to return it and actually I used to love shopping at Menards but I cannot take it anymore. I became disappointed when I didn't know whether I was being profiled or unconditionally customer serviced . I overlooked the smirkingly immaturity by a few employees not recognizing their indiscretion to serve unconditional customer service. I've been coming to this location periodically since this store opened. Never experienced this uncomfortable culture of suspicion to approach a senior customer with less than helpful intentions. While shopping for a matching refrigerator and stove to match my newer dishwasher purchased at a different location. It took 2 employees to approach to see what I was looking for,who was hurrying my visit in the department asking too many questions as if I was loitering. Their version of helpfulness was actually unhelpful and annoying, I never had that experience at any Menards location usually people performing their jobs getting the sales. My budget was $2500-$3500 in that department for my meticulous taste, I resulted to delay the purchase till I could find the items I could be happy with without being approached by the 2 unhelpful employees who questioned my intentions of making a decision as if loitering the store. I didn't bother myself to understand their intentions I suspended my visit from that department was a waste of time to purchase today. While heading to the front, one more department stop that employee while trying not to appear alerted tho somewhat uncomfortable or inconspicuous was able to make the sale. Once at check out I was being followed closely by an employee pushing a shopping cart so close I looked around it was an earlier unhelpful department lady I tried not to making anymore out of it I paid for my items than I heard a voice coming from across the customer service desk finally Go, I looked to see who she was talking to like that in the same breath I got a have a nice day. I found my all in one store No project is to big of small when it comes to this mega store. The customer service is very nice. And what ever you need or looking for just ask one of the helpful workers. So far so good. I'm looking forward to doing many projects around the house. Let me start by saying that any negative reviews years ago are no longer valid so disregard them. It seems that, for the most part, people complained about poor customer service. That is no longer the case. We can't walk by an associate without them asking if we need help. We usually know where everything is but occasionally would need help. When this happens, we're typically in the wrong section BUT, the employees in that section STILL know what aisle we need to go to, no matter what section it's in. And, will tell us what aisle without hesitation, unless we're describing what we need incorrectly. Oh, and not only that, they'll walk WITH us to find what we need, even if it's on the other side of the store! So, no...none of the other reviews apply here anymore. :) We bought a house in Florida and the nearest Menards is almost 600 miles away. :( We checked because anything we purchased from our nearest Home Depot had to be returned because it broke...no joke...and the customer service our nearest Lowe's is horrible. None of those kids knows where anything's at, IF you can find someone to ask. Maybe we were spoiled by Menards Crestwood's outstanding products and service. Matt is the manager on duty 99% of the time. I think he lives there...lol He's ALWAYS there! And he's amazing! He treats his employees great, he treats his customers great. He runs a tight ship that one. He reminds me of Morgan Freeman from the movie Lean on Me. For the person who was looking for an outdoor carpet, did you even CHECK the 'flooring' section?? For the person who got her car towed, first, there are no workout facilities near this store and second, I get that you're angry but you broke the law and are blaming Menards employees for being the ones that called on you. Went there for a truck rental and had a good experience with the manager Ashley and Marlene, one of the associates. Their customer service was spot on. Marlene took care of us and was extra careful to make sure the truck was ready. Ashley noted that the air pressure on the tires was slow and went and had them fixed so we will not have any issue. Hello, Recently I purchased a chandelier from Menards website. actually, did it in store through the app. Which, as it turns out was way to long for my dining room. So I returned it the next day. The girl a the desk told me it was special order and that I had to pay a restocking fee. What, restocking fee. At no point from start to finish in ordering this does it state that if you return the item there will be a restocking free. You only find this out when you go and return it. At no point are you told this in the process. Not on the website or the receipt that's printed out. I for one would never had purchased a 384 dollar item knowing there would have been a restocking fee if it was not to my liking. Terrible way of doing business. I asked the manager to show me anywhere on the website or the receipt that this was a special order or a possible restocking fee. She could not and on top of that she called me rude because I was upset (no cursing). read more

Absolutely brutal customer service. We purchased a washer and dryer for delivery. The salesman and delivery coordinator failed to tell us that we had to pay an additional 75 dollars to have our old machine shop in hooked. And the new machines hooked in. The 59 dollar delivery charge is for basic delivery only which means the customer has to do work they were not prepared to do. The delivery person arrived and scolded my 93 year old dad for not saying good morning. Then informed us about the 75 dollar fee for complete installation. Thus caused confusion and he threatened to take the machines back. Be aware when dealing with Menard because the employees do not communicate well. Ask many questions to get understanding. read more

This has to be the worst Menards that I have ever been in. I thought this place was the training grounds for the Olympics, when you try to get an employee to help you, they run as fast as they can the other way. I wandered back and forth in the hardware section trying to find something, while several employees just walked back and forth talking to each other. When I finally interrupted an employee to ask for a specific item i needed, her response, does it have to be that item. Duh, yes or I would not have asked for that specific item. And the cashiers at Menards are just a waste of oxygen. You load the items on the belt, you back your items at the end of the belt, and you swipe your credit card. All they is scan your items and push them down to your. And god forbid if you are slow to bag your items, because they will start to process the next customer and their items come down the belt. read more

I had never been inside a Menards before this visit, although I had heard the pervasive advertisements on the radio previously. Our old fridge broke on the weekend and we desperately needed to buy a new fridge and have it delivered ASAP in order to prevent all of our food from spoiling. After calling Lowe's and Home Depot first, both of which were unable to deliver the next day (Home Depot doesn't deliver on Sundays/Mondays!), I called Menards and they said could offer next-day delivery! I should also note that they were price competitive with Lowe's, Home Depot, and Best Buy for the fridge model we wanted. We made the drive out. The store itself is...busy... but it's also a smaller business competing against larger giants so I can understand that. Two specific things blew me away though: first, the people who worked there knew the other people who worked there by first name. For example, I went in the store and asked where the appliances were and the worker referred me to the people who would be working back there. When I got to the appliance section and told them that I called them earlier, they knew exactly who I had spoken with. It's difficult to find that sort of close-knit relationship especially amongst employees of a store as large as Menards. The second thing that blew me away is that the store employee proactively told me about a store promotion where they were offering an 11% rebate on everything sold (without my asking). They didn't have to tell me that, and let me tell you - 11% off of a fridge is a LOT of money. 5 stars, would definitely take a look at Menards seriously again. read more

I started a bathroom project and decided to trust this menards to help me with what I needed. Went to their bathroom department and worked with one of their workers in that department who helped me pick out what I needed. Decided I wanted the Utile MAXX unit for my shower and was literally standing in the floor model shower at menards as the worker wrote down what color and size I needed. For whatever reason he ordered a bathtub UTILE MAXX unit when I clearly told him I was installing a shower unit. This was a special order so I have to pay e tea for delivery and a 25% restocking fee if I needed to return it. When my plumber came today to install it is when we realized I was given a bathtub unit and not the shower unit so I called menards right away but they were rude and told me too bad it's a special order so I would need to pay $225 to have it returned and restocked and then another delivery fee for the right unit. This is unacceptable when this was not my fault that they have incompetent workers assigned to this department. That same day with the same worker I also purchased a Vigo shower panel, shower shelves, shower base, etc. so there is no reason why this worker would think he should order the bathtub unit. I do not have a bathtub. I will never be going to menards after I return this. Especially the Crestwood location - they are the worst and should be capable of providing efficient service to a customer who is spending over $5,000 on their products. If I could give negative stars to this menards I would but it makes me choose at least one star. Don't get confused by that, they do not deserve even one star. I will be calling Menards corporate office too because this is not fair and it needs to be resolved appropriately. Hopefully by telling their corporate office it will not happen again to another consumer. read more

Starting with Matt the GM, to the front desk reps, to the "aisle" workers, and the cashiers, they're a really thoughtful, helpful, and nice lot. It's a big box store and I have to accept that. Where do I begin??? We are remodeling our kitchen. We ordered all of our appliances and cabinets from Menards. We placed the order for our cabinets on MAY 21, 2015. We were told that the cabinets would be ready to be picked up by JUNE 9, 2015. So when we left Menards, we called our contractor and told him when the cabinets would be in so he could start scheduling our kitchen with his company. When JUNE 15 rolled around, we were concerned with what we had gotten ourselves into since our contractor needed to start our job asap so he could get to the other jobs he had scheduled for himself. We called and no one could tell us anything. We were constantly checking the status of our order and the Ship date continued to be pushed back. I finally went into the store to talk with someone in person. There I found ROBERT, the manager in the cabinet department. He was just as confused as we were, and since it was a Saturday, he told me the Manufacture that the cabinets came through, was not open. He PROMISED to call me and/or my husband the next Monday when they reopened. When Monday rolled around, we received zero calls from Robert or anyone else that worked at Menards. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait patiently until Tuesday morning to Call again to speak to Robert. Apparently Robert doesnt work on Tuesdays. And when I asked to speak to another manager, the kid that I spoke to told me that he wasnt able to come to the phone. Can you feel the frustration? My Husband went into Menards on Wednesday and again they told us there was nothing that they could find out or do for us at the moment. He decided to call the actual manufacture to find out what was going on. Again we got nothing in return. My husband finally got a hold of the actual truck driver that was carrying our merch. He told us that he was dropping the cainets off at the Crestwood Menards location the next day. We finally picked up our cabinets on FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 10 days after the date they told us our supplies would be in. The only reason why we knew they were even there was because of the truck driver carrying our merchandise, Menards NEVER called us. We will NEVER choose to use Menards as our go-to Home Improvement Center. SO DISAPPOINTED. read more

I hate shopping at Menards due to the customer service. I accidently bought the wrong wood material and needed to return it to finish the current project I'm working on. I came in and there was Patty and one of her coworkers talking, Patty rolled her eyes when she saw me come in with my return. No greeting whatsoever and said very nastily why are you returning this, I told her I grabbed the wrong item, needed to exchange it for the correct one. She asked if I wanted a refund or store credit, told her I'll go ahead and take the refund. She again stated in a very nasty way, well your not going to get your money back till a couple days. I told her it was fine and at the end she actually thanked me, with a very different demeanor, as I was dealing with someone else that actually cared enough of where she worked. My issues with Menards is that it seems many employees seem to avoid you (typically the younger ones) and I dislike the rebate system as they are banking on you to not do it. It should be a rewards program by phone number to make it easier. After I finish this project I will stick with Lowe's and Home Depot as they have better customer service and give me a 10% military discount. read more
