My husband always gets the Smokin Turkey which has turkey, bacon, cheese, avocado, and an Albuquerque sauce. They serve bottled drinks, fountain drinks, beer, wine, and kettle chips as well. Service is always super fast and friendly. All items are made to order so it will take 5-10 minutes for your food to come up depending on how long the line is. I was so excited to have found a gluten free grilled cheese place on my road trip, but was ultimately disappointed with the actuality. I wish they used better quality gluten free bread. The bread tasted like defrosted Udi's and I was hoping for something more unique and flavorful. I will say the inside sandwich flavor combos were creative. The strawberry jam and goat cheese tasted amazing together and they were accommodating with substituting the pork for turkey. I expected more from the staff. They were not very friendly and after taking our order did not give us a time estimate for our order being ready. The restaurant is a cute foodtruck style, but being outside by the beach there were a lot of flying bugs. When they put the order in the ready window I wish they would close the paperbag to avoid bugs flying inside to our food. This is the perfect yummy comfort spot! Cheese oozing out from warm toasty sandwiches. It perfect on a sunny but breezy day in February. We ordered the the Augusta with bacon, sloppy melt, strawberry goat forever and a roasted tomato soup. The sandwiches were thick and full of cheese. My husband loved his sloppy melt and we split the Augusta. The Augusta was perfect with the tomato soup. The soup was so delicious. It was so filling. Great flavor with a touch of a smoky taste. I can make a pretty great grilled cheese sandwich on my own, so my bar is pretty high. The Meltdown managed to meet and even exceed it -- and that's saying something. My fiance and I stopped in Seaside on a Saturday afternoon to explore and grab a bite to eat. After seeing all of the adorable Airstream food trucks, we both chose to order from the Meltdown. I opted for the "French Onion is My Jam" while he ordered the "5-Cheese Bomb" and added bacon. We decided we'd each have half then switch, which ended up being a great idea. The French onion has french onion jam, swiss and gruyere, but be forewarned that in addition to caramelized onions, there are also some thin white onions (cooked) in there. The 5-cheese bomb, meanwhile, has american, cheddar, swiss, gruyere and pepper jack cheeses. I ate my half of the French onion first, then switched to the 5-cheese bomb. While I liked both, the bomb was, well, "the bomb." It was gooey with PLENTY of cheese and thick, perfectly cooked bacon that really took this sandwich to the next level. Both of us were quite happy with our meal. I live nowhere near Seaside but you can bet that when I come back, I'll be back in line at the Meltdown to try another one of their sandwiches. This place is part of the whole airstream food trucks set up down in Seaside. I was pumped to see a gourmet grilled cheese truck. We have some of these places near me at home and I love them. However, the menu here was so boring flavor wise that I decided not to order. However, my son still wanted one. I ordered him the 5 cheese bomb grilled cheese. Our order was ready pretty quickly. I tried his grilled cheese and while it was gooey and cheesy, it was pretty plain. Maybe one of the ones with meat in them would be better. The prices were typical to that of other grilled cheese places. Overall, probably wouldn't be my pick but if you are craving grilled cheese then try it out. read more

My friend and I were sitting at a fancy restaurant on the beach, not seeing anything we liked for a reasonable price so we decided to order appetizers and head back to that mouth watering grilled cheese place down the road. Best. Decision. Ever. The menu is filled with amazing varieties of grilled cheese style goodness. They had everything from turkey + bacon + avo to blue cheese + bacon + caramelized onion combos. After much thought put into the elimination process, I ended up getting the strawberry jam, prosciutto and goat cheese sandwich. It was spectacular! The jam was not the cheapy gelatin kind, it was like fresh preserves made at the farm down the road. The bread was perfectly crisp and not too greasy or thick. And the portion size was perfect for the price. Meltdown is located in 30A as part of the silver trailer section. There's tons of parking around and a bunch of different options so if you really want grilled cheese but some crazy person in your car doesn't, they have a whole bunch of other options around to choose from. First of all, I love ALL of Seaside area. The airstream food trucks are a must see/try when you are in the area. In the evening, their string lights and warm atmosphere make it an inviting place to grab dinner. This particular time, we had the Meltdown for lunch. The service was great. They man who took our order was super friendly and helpful with any questions we had. I love goat cheese so as soon as I saw the Strawberry Goat Forever sandwich, I knew I had to get it!! And at first bite, it was heaven on Earth!! Delicious. Who would have thought prosciutto, strawberry jam, and goat cheese would harmonize so well together, but they did! As I continued to eat the sandwich, the flavor profile became a little too much for me. I couldn't finish the second half of my sandwich. I got the same sandwich a couple of days later and felt the same way. It's great at first, but the more you eat, the less you crave the flavors. My husband got the Caprese sandwich and loved it! He tried mine and said he'd choose his any day of the week. It was very good. I love balsamic as well, so anything with balsamic is an automatic win.
