I walked in to this store this morning after hiking for 4 days, ready to buy everything I had been craving and really anything else in sign that caught my fancy. As I walked on to the porch, I was met with a loud tapping on the window. Assuming this tapping was meant for me, I approached the window and the woman (possibly the owner, based on pictures on Yelp) at the window impatiently waved me off , and pointed at some car driving by the store's mailbox. Okay...... So, I then walked in to the store , and saw two women working in the store , and was greeted by neither. I then took it upon myself to greet the apparent owner behind the counter with a friendly "hello!" Her echoing response was a curt, flat, world-weary, sardonic, annoyed sounding "hello". Well, I decided there and then that I would buy only as little as possible at this strangely unfriendly establishment. I grabbed just the bare minimum. I greeted the other woman AND SHE DIDNT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL - JUST WALKED OFF!! Then, the two had some kind of complaining, gossiping- sounding conversation about something, and the apparent owner disappeared into the back room. The other employee went to the register and rang me up. After spending 83 dollars , she was at least willing to speak to me. When, as a courtesy and a heads up to her, I asked her if it was okay for my group to leave our backpacks somewhere on their parking lot premises , while some of us walked to get our car while one would remain behind to watch the packs, she was very resistant to agree, and kept looking at the back of the store where the apparent owner had disappeared to - but then agreed that it was okay when she realized it would just be a bunch of backpacks and a person or two at the corner of their dusty, empty parking lot. Needless to say, not a store I would ever set foot in again. read more
