During the time of COVID-19 I'm looking for shopping experiences with minimal human interaction. Popped in tonight to pick up a few things and was eager to use the shop & scan feature in the Meijer App. Normally, self scan means you have a contactless shopping experience. You scan your items and pay for them- all on your phone. Here's the weirdness that is this feature at Meijer. Scanned my items with my phone (so far so good) but then to pay for them I had to go to a "self serve" check-out, scan a QR code on the screen, have the employee come up and tell me they are required to scan "3 of your items" (I was buying 4 things)- and then you can scan your credit card at the self checkout to pay. That's certainly not scan and go, nor is it contactless. There is really minimal benefit to scanning on your phone vs scanning all your items at self checkout. The other really unbelievable aspect of Meijer in the time of a pandemic is that they will charge you $4.95 to pickup your order at the store and you can't use pickup for any alcoholic items. Meijer needs to take some cues from WalMart- which has order pickup down to a science. They bring the groceries to your trunk quickly, for no charge, and will bring out your alcohol (with a convenient curbside ID check). I don't want to go through the checkout nor have the front of store staff touching "3" of my items. It's a no- brainer that for a contactless experience- Meijer is not the right choice. Meijer boast on their "perks" rewards but when at the register never accepts my rewards.. limits the # of receipts to put in manually/scan to 3. For the little bit of rewards that you received .. really going to limit the number of rewards per month to enter. There are plenty of other stores to shop!!! read more

In this time of covid when everything you do is so important to keep from contracting or spreading it I have seen many people walking around Meier without masks and even worse employees not wearing them or not wearing them properly. Twice at customer service there was a female employee with her mask covering her chin not her nose. Shopping experience is only ok. They have minimal allergy, gluten free products, no duck eggs & only quarts of goat milk. Have asked for certain products and was told these decisions were not up to individual stores. lets see what happens. May have to go elsewhere. Cathy M read more

Twice I've tried to get a to-go slice of pizza, and twice I could not get any service. One of those times the worker was cleaning the soda machine. She saw me, ignored me, and kept wiping. read more

Meijer isnt fairing well during Corona. Shelves are always low stock. Employees look miserable. Prices are better than Stracks though you gotta deal with homies getting into drive by shootouts in the parking lot. Some would call that the local flavor I call that South Gary read more

The Escanaba store charged my credit card multiple times for different amounts. Only one of the times were actually for my purchase. When I called they said they could not do anything about it. I was stuck paying for something I did not purchase. Please use your on line banking to verify they are not doing this to you! I should have gone to Elmer's! read more

Get to your store don't have a mask but you can buy them for 20$. Really just lost a minimum of a 300$ sale Going camping but couldn't get supplies from you because you are ridiculous!!!! read more

Great store! Horrible service. Waited in lane while cashier called for help to eliminate cash in drawer, 20 min later, no arrival for help. Moved to self-serve lane which wouldn't accept multiple items and needed override. Won't be back; no one seemed to care about the wait nor have recourse for the slow acting cash manager who took at least 30 min to arrive while multiple customers were in line with only one other lane open. read more

Went to the store in Escanaba last week and was sworn at by an employee who was moving merchandise with a forklift in the front parking lot. He was moving a heavy load and could not see in front of him. He didn't have any OSHA approved safety wear and anything certified on his forklift. Plus, the load should have been moved while driving backwards so that he could see customers. I guess that as I passed him to park (he was stopped in the roadway), he was cursing me out in front of my husband and kids. My husband proceeded to back up my driving and tell him that the customer should not be treated like that. Now, we are not going back to the store due to the harassment that may occur with this employee. I have been working in customer service for over 20 years and have never seen such an ugly manner. The worker was an older gentlemen if that helps. Word will get out and hopefully this is resolved. read more
