Over the past decade my eyebrows have been to hell and back…read more After literally being burned at my last brow appointment, I spent the last several months trying to grow back my hair from a botched job. My friend Devon F who is my guru for all things beauty related recommended the Anastasia Brow Studio at Tysons so I immediately decided to book an appointment using their easy online system. The hardest part of my appointment was looking for parking in the Tysons Corner parking lot. Maryam took me to her small beauty counter inside Nordstroms and lay me down for a consultation. What I really appreciated was that she took the time to measure my brows and stencil out what the end result would look like so I knew I'd be satisfied before she even got to work. The Anastasia brand believes in the beauty of full brows so I did not have to worry about looking like Kate Moss circa 1993. Maryam explained the whole process to me while working and had the gentlest touch -- it barely hurt at all! She also mentioned how I should maintain upkeep at home so I can eventually get to my full brow power level in a few months. I was super impressed! With easy booking and personalized service there is no doubt that I'll be back for a second appointment!

My eyebrows had a few too many walks through 5 minute job, chop shop hell. My tail was short, the…read moreunder side of my brow uneven, and I was beginning to feel a bit hopeless. I learned that it takes 3 seconds to ruin an eyebrow, and 3 months (at least) to fix it. So I waited. I hid the tweezers, and I waited some more. I went almost the whole summer without touching my brows (which was so, so hard). After being burned so many times (actually quite literally, in some cases), I had developed eyebrow trust issues. Not a single mall stand or nail salon could be trusted. That's where Anastasia comes in. It was so worth the wait (make sure to schedule in advance!), and so worth the money. Khatalina is a true artist that created gorgeous brows from a very difficult template. These truly are the eyebrows of my dreams and the very best I could imagine. Thank you Kat! Ladies, just say no to the 5 minute chop shops. Your eyebrows are one of the most important features of your face, treat them right!

I had my brows first done by Amy about two years ago and they completely transformed my look! I…read morewalked in to her super clean and cute office with barely any brows at all. They were super thin to begin with, and with age they had started to thin out even more. They were so thin, they disappeared in photos . Anyways, she helped me pick out color that would complement my ever changing hair color. The process it self isn't completely painless. She uses numbing creams on your brows so it is a lot less painful than getting a tattoo, but you do still feel the tools slightly on your skin. (A little) pain is beauty, right? Keep in mind your skin and your skin care routine can really impact how long it will take your brows to fade. You should expect to come in once a year for an annual touch up. Immediately after after a visit you'll need to avoid getting water on your brows for a day, and then avoid being in direct sunlight and sweating (I avoided taking cardio) for about a week for the ink to set. This is the same with tattoos (which I have a few of so I was prepared for this). Your brows will look darker than expected due to scabbing but your real brows will be revealed by the end of the week! One last thing to be prepared for: funny looks from people when your skin starts to heal and peel One patch of skin on my right brow which for no good reason just does not hold ink. It fades super quick compared to the rest which stays and fades consistently over a year, but this one spot just refuses to keep ink! Amy has been super helpful and nice in doing extra sessions to try going over that spot a bit extra. It's definitely easy enough to fill in this one spot with makeup but wanted to mention since Amy has done everything to to try to help it, but it's clearly an issue with that patch of skin. For you people who hate calling to make appointments, you can schedule online and even text her direct (I've sent photos of my brows this way) and she's super quick (within 24 hours) in responding!

Sometime in the last 3-4 years, my eyebrow hair has either slowed in growth or stopped altogether…read more I've been filling them in with eyeshadow or using those brow pens that draw a few thin lines at a time. I was chicken about this process because I wasn't sure about whether I could tolerate the pain or, even worse, I'd end up looking like Groucho Marx. I am not about the trendy, strong eyebrow game. I had been searching through Yelp and Facebook to see what reputable places offered microblading and I was about to head to Baltimore until I read all the reviews for Amy. And since location is also important, it helped that Microblading Magic & More was in Fairfax. Amy listens to your concerns and she definitely knows what she's doing. She makes herself available for any questions and she really knew what I wanted. She also told me exactly how my brows would heal, so I didn't freak out too too much. Amy knew that I didn't want strong brows, so I chose the shade lighter than black, which was maybe a brownish gray. During the healing process, your brows are pretty dark, and I actually grew to love the 'bolder' brows; so when I go back for my six week refresh, I'm choosing 'to go black.' I'm super happy that I took the plunge and got my eyebrows done. I had my misgivings, but beauty is pain right? If you're in the market for semi-permanent eyebrows, Amy of Microblading Magic is the real deal.
