This experience was just okay at best. We get there and get seated, there are servers and cooks just standing behind the servers area just talking, there's no one else in the restaurant. Finally one comes over, all that is fine. She doesn't check on us very often - we have to wait 5-10 minutes before we can get another drink because there was condensation from the AC dripping into two of our table's drinks! This is the table to the right inside the incoming/waiting area, right behind the transformer statue. Food was okay, idk why they wouldn't confirm that the kid who got pretzel bites didn't want beer cheese. My hawaiian pizza was okay, at least had an ample amount of pineapple, but it wasn't great. Pep Pizza looked better, crust & all. Oh also, the phone at the hostess desk kept ringing. And ringing. And ringing. Idk if maybe it rings in the back too but the hostess def wasn't answering it, she was looking at her phone while no one was there - if it's not her responsibility, please silence it bc it's annoying. The food is delicious. The service SUCKS! Apparently they love to do doordash. We shared the meatballs ( outstanding) he got a sandwich and I ordered a pizza. Our food came out and it was very good. But because I got cold, I went outside. In that time I saw someone come and carry out three pizzas+ and someone else with two pizza carriers. I went in and the bartender said the kitchen was overwhelmed with carry out orders. I went back outside. Coming back in, our waitress/bartender was still trying to get our order ready to go. Understandably they had the air conditioner set so it was pretty warm when we went in there, and I still rated it 5 stars. We always visit this place 2 or three times during our annual Myrtle beach vacation. Food is always perfect. Exactly how we ordered it and delicious. Very disappointed in this location of mellow mushroom. Normally I love mellow mushroom and their large range of topping choices. However, the service at this location was terrible. I will preface to say that our waitress herself was great but I guess a few servers and other staff had called out and they were severely understaffed. In this case any other restaurant would not seat the amount of people that they did, but instead we had to wait an hour to receive our appetizer and another 30 min after that to get our pizza. An hour and a half for a pizza was a little ridiculous in my opinion. When we let the manager know we had been waiting quite a while he was rude and told us we should have some patience. In the end the waitress was the one who took one of the pizzas off the bill for our wait. The food itself was also not great. The appetizer of pretzel bites and cheese looked like it just been popped into the microwave. The pizza was good but tasted like it had been under cooked and the crust was super doughy and seemed like they did not cook it all the way since they were in a rush. The pizza here was pretty good! I got a mushroom pizza and it was so flavorful. My friends (who are vegan) got the veg out pizza and were pleased. Mellow mushroom has vegan friendly cheese so they were able to order most of the pizzas. We also got a hummus appetizer which was nice, since it had an eggplant hummus and a regular one. I usually don't like hummus but they did a good job with these, and even added cucumber to dip. It took a while to get our pizzas, but besides that I have no complaints! read more

Man we love our MM!! We always look forward to our 1st stop in town to the Mellow! We drive in with our dog and hangout on the outdoor patio to eat. The 4 stars is because this Friday the bartender was not interested in waiting on us. We went to our normal spot and the bartender came out promptly and told us he was busy and we would have to come and "get him" every time we needed something! Which means "I'm too busy for you" so we ended up leaving pup in car and eating inside. 1 waitresses for 6 tables but she rocked it! She was amazing! Food was great too!! The pictures do this food way more justice than the actual taste. I've been to Mellow Mushroom many times, but this time was hands down the worst experience taste wise. We ordered the pretzel bites that come with beer cheese. I don't know how they can call what they put on the plate pretzels. It was literally their pizza crust chopped into tiny, little nuggets, and their beer cheese got worse the more you ate it. Both pizzas took way longer than they should have taken to come out. The chicken that was on the pizza smelled disgusting and had the weirdest yellow looking coloring on it. I don't know whether it's what they season the chicken with or what, but never again. Also, the Buffalo sauce on the pizza was questionable, taste wise. Kind of similar to the beer cheese, it got worse as you ate it. A Also, several hours after eating there, my boyfriend had terrible diarrhea so there's the nail in the coffin. 100% will not be going back to any Mellow Mushroom. read more

We are big Pizza fans! So far, MM has the best pizza we've found since moving to Murrells Inlet. We are originally from Detroit, so we love good fresh pizza. We've tried several specials and have built our own pizzas as well. All very very good. The wings are pretty good too. Love the drink specials. All prepared consistently and tasty. Service in the bar area is very good. However, service on the pizza side of the house is a little bit of a hit and miss. The server sometimes seems bothered to have to serve us. read more

I recently discovered Mellow Mushroom and I'm very glad I did. I realize I'm a little late to the party, they have been very popular with my friends for some time. We tend to find a pizza we like and then stick with it for a bit before going to another brand or style of pizza, and we have so many "stand by's" that we forget to try new pizza restaurants. Mellow Mushroom is not just a pizza place, they have a menu offering many great items. But I have been twice and ordered the pizza and also the pretzel bites with beer cheese. Both are excellent! The interior of the restaurant is very clean and it has a nice atmosphere. Novelty seating is available (a booth resembling a VW Bus seems to be a favorite table) and the staff is very accommodating. Everyone was nice and friendly, the food is hot and fresh. The pizza itself was very satisfying, it had lots of cheese and the toppings were plentiful. Most importantly for me it had ample sauce on the pie. I find a lot of pizzas are too dry but that was not the case here. The only reason I did not give a five star rating was consistency- the first pizza we had was absolutely perfect. We were excited about a return trip soon for another. The second pizza we got about a week later was good, but the center of the pizza was too soupy and you couldn't pick up a slice without the tip falling off or the toppings remaining behind. But the taste was still very good, the pretzel bites were great both times and the beer cheese dipping sauce was top notch. Planning to try them again soon- you ought to stop in if you haven't tried them. read more

We decided on the Mellow Mushroom for pizza night. It was a Thursday night which is regular team trivia game night. We didn't participate, but it was fun. The atmosphere is a pretty cool modern vibe. There are plenty of areas for seating, televisions, and decor to promote the relaxed feeling. The outside area has an open corn hole box to play. We were seated immediately and chose to sit outside on the patio because inside was a little cool. Also the weather was fantastic. The server greeted us with no hesitation. He checked on our table regularly and we never had to look for him. We ordered the pretzel bites and the Funk O Chicken pizza with regular crust. The pretzel bites were hot and fresh topped with parmesan cheese served with beer cheese. Definitely a good appetizer before the pizza. The pizza was hot, flavorful, with plenty of toppings. FOOD: we have been frequent Friday customers, with 7-10 adults and 2 small children. We call it Pizza Fridays! We eat outside because my 2 Grand Children (3 & 1) like to run around, and we do not like to disturb other customers. My brother and I ordered the cloud 9 wings, was very disappointed! My 3 yr old Grandson always orders " meatballs" this time he did not eat them! Even the pizza was not as good as it usually is! Service: was great for our large group, but he added the 18% tip to each bill, but did not advise us! Billed 3 ways, His loss as we always leave a larger CASH tip! Ambiance: the area could have been cleaner. There were dirty ashtrays by the couches, floors could have been cleaner... Sorry for the poor reviews, but it is a FRIDAY, and we never had a problem before. FYI- You do not have Wt. Zinfandel, but it is on the menu. The other Mellow Mushroom up in Myrtle Beach has it! Surprisingly good pizza. Now, this should not be mistaken for New York pizza - this is entirely its own thing. Initially was not sure this would work out because we stood at the host stand for a good 5 minutes with literally no one there to greet us or seat us. I had to seek out a the manager in the back of the restaurant to figure out who was seating at the front. But I'm glad we stayed because the pizza was really good. The vibe is super chill and the decor is cool. The building is spacious, with separate bar and outdoor bar areas. Really unique flavor combinations on the menu. I had the Great White and my boyfriend had the BBQ chicken. The great white was an interesting mix of roasted tomatoes, ricotta, feta and garlic. Felt a lighter than standard pizza. The small size is more than enough for one person. We only finished half of the pies and took the other half to go. Think really good Pizza Hut personal pan pizza. read more

Arrived at 7:30 on Memorial Day Sunday (after verifying they closed at 9 on social media and google) to be told by the hostess that they closed at 8 and there was a wait. There was one group waiting, who let us know that they were told the same thing when they arrived a few minutes earlier. We were then told we could sit and "hope we get sat before they close but no promises." We decided to get a drink at the bar where we learned from the super nice bartender that the bar and 4 tops were full service and first come first serve- which would have been nice to be told by the hostess when we got there! The group ahead of us and our group both found tables and got great service from the bartender, who should not have had to manage the incompetency of the hostess. read more

I am an avid fan of Mellow Mushroom pizza, but both times we went to go here, we had odd encounters. We went and waited for a server to seat us, but no one ever came. Then went to the next room and the servers were hanging out and said that they were closed, when the website said that they were open for another hour. The second time we went (to get take out) a very similar situation happened where no one was at the front of the restaurant and we had to walk up to the bar and talk to the bar tender to order. Once we had a trip where we did eat, the pizzas were okay. I still love Mellow Mushroom with all my heart, but was a little disheartened at our experience. read more

We went here for lunch while vacationing this week. It wasn't a bad place, nice atmosphere, very warm. One person working, or so it appeared, during lunch, seating, waiting all the tables both inside and out, bit that it was overly busy. We got two orders of wings, one hot and one mild. You couldn't tell the difference between the two, flavor wise when we got them. Being oven baked they weren't bad. We also got a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza and a small specialty pizza. Although the page doesn't say anything about being gluten free it does have a gluten free pizza option which was a game changer for me. After seeing great options on the online menu, I called to verify that they still had vegan options. Once we got there we were told about bruschetta they could make with vegan cheese, but then told they were out of the cheese. Asked the waitress for a suggestion for appetizer and was told that folks like the wings."aren't they chicken wings?" I asked, and was told yes, but they have vegan sauce. Oy. Ordered a chicken (sub tempeh) and veg hoagie that I was assured would be made with vegan cheese, but when it was served, it just didn't look right. I asked, and was told it was vegan. Tried a bite and knew immediately it was not. Waitress then said that corporate came that morning and 'took the vegan cheese'. They need to stop advertising stuff they don't have, and need to train staff about what vegan and gluten free mean. Would not recommend a place that blatantly lied about what they served me. Another good Gluten Free restaurant in Myrtle Beach area. Hubby, who is the GF one, said his 10" GF pizza (only size GF comes) was good. (He has always like thin crust though.) He got the House Special, a little bit of everything. I got a build your own 3 topping on the classic crust (mushrooms, Italian sausage, & fresh mozzarella). It was sort of soggy in the middle. We were immediately seated. The wait for the pizza was long enough we commented on it. But we will come back. PS They have GF beer also. read more
