What we were trying to do was unorthodox from an approach perspective but she tried to meet me in every way possible and wasn't just trying to make a quick buck. Here communication was great and although we didn't end up doing the full project she was able to help us bring part of the project to life and work within our constraints. This was huge as I had no imagination and Helena was able to help us really think through something so we had an end vision of what was possible. What impressed us most was her dedication to the customer. Throughout the process, she prioritized our satisfaction which we loved. Her professionalism and focus on meeting our needs were outstanding. Unfortunately, we decided to pause the build of the project but when we do kick this off we will absolutely reach back out to Helena to see if we can get her crew engaged.

Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): the value that Helena and the rest of the Kreative Landscaping team…read morewill bring to your project is unparalleled. I would highly recommend her for any outdoor landscaping project and more. We fully intend to use her team for any future projects we may have because Helena's vision for our yard made all the difference. Details: We had our backyard completely redone because it was chopped up in small unusable sections and it was just generally a mess. We had three different estimates to do the job and they all came in roughly the same price. So what was the difference? Helena's vision and communication. She was able to quickly see what our yard could look like and help us see it too. But while we were impressed with Helena's creativity, the good vibes didn't stop there. As the project went on, if there was something we weren't 100% happy with, Helena was sure to work with us to make it right. The biggest example of this? The pavers that we had purchased ended up coming from two different batches/lots and so when they were installed there was a bit of a color mismatch that wasn't really visible until after it was all laid out. After a full install of the pavers, we asked Helena about the slight mismatch and she agreed that it could look better. She went to her supplier, fought for us to get new pavers, and reinstalled the pavers for no additional cost. She is someone you want in your corner. As we went through our project, there were a few unexpected hiccups, but nothing major. Each time something would come up though, Helena would suggest multiple solutions, and if we chose a solution that would add some additional cost due to increased labor and materials from what we originally planned, we always felt that Helena was fair and reasonable with her price adjustment. Best of all, it was easy to talk to her if at any point we weren't satisfied with something or how things were going. It's been about six months since our yard was finished and we are so pleased with how it all turned out. Plan to upload before and after pictures later, but don't currently have them. The transformation was amazing though and me and my family have loved actually using our yard to its fullest potential!

All the positive reviews of Janet are spot on - she is so easy to work with and brilliant and artistic. It takes a few months to get to the top of her work queue, but she is super organized, and has excellent work process. Her crew is also great. We wanted more drought resistant plants that still looked beautiful and not like weeds, to replace our lawn. She sat down with us, showed us a ton of pictures of plants so we could say: love, hate, indifferent. And she really got to understand our taste. The project is now finished (just in time for San Diego to shut down) and we are getting constant compliments from our neighbors. It's just so beautiful and more environmentally friendly. If you're thinking of using Janet, it's an absolute no-brainer - she is so lovely and was flexible even when we decided to make tweaks mid process.

My husband and I wanted to replace our dead lawn with some water wise plants, but for several years we couldn't agree on plants/design, etc. I called several landscape contractors, but their prices were too high, and I felt that I wanted to have a really good design first. Kate was able to produce a wonderful, easy to understand plan for improving our front yard. I was dreading having a rock and cactus front yard, but she assured us that we could have a good looking front yard without it looking like we lived in AZ! She listened to us, asked questions and came up with a plan that both my husband agreed upon. We just finished our front yard construction, so we met with Kate again and planned our backyard. Again, she came up with excellent solutions, and next year we will begin the new makeover. Kate is incredibly patient and knowledgable. We used our gardener to help with the front yard, but will probably hire a contractor for the bigger backyard. Now we have the confidence to interview and hire one that we trust. Thanks, Kate!

I had never appreciated just how much more landscape designers know, and how good they are at helping you envision things. Kate stayed for longer than the time promised, and we had three separate meetings during that time. I'm wondering why I didn't do this years ago. Sage was the fastest to respond, and one of only two that did respond, to a request I put out to 8 local landscape architects and designers. I would guess that the others only want to talk with you if you have $100K estate landscapes. Jasmine made me feel welcome immediately and was generous with communication and help throughout. Their website was clear and informative, so I knew just what to expect (though as I say, it went well beyond what I'd hoped for!). Strongly recommend.

At the spring 2024 Del Mar home and garden show we met Beth from inside out design build and asked for a proposal. At her request we signed her standard contract on May 24, 2024, referring to and accepting the scope of work in her May 22 proposal. At first everything went well. We met at local nursery to select plants, picked out fire glass and mulch and scheduled the work. Beth went herself to the nurseries to select the best looking and healthiest plants and the installation was scheduled to start June 3, 2024. Green line landscape owned by Pedro showed up on time with a large crew and essentially removals, new installations and the upgraded fire pit were completed within four days. On August 2, 2024 we emailed Beth within the 60 day plant warranty. This was to update her on plant status. Four of the eight Verbina plants had died and we had some questions about health, size and maintenance of the Celosia. Beth did not answer our August 2 email so on Friday, August 9, and again on Saturday, August 10, we called her work number to follow up, only to receive a message that the mailbox was full. We again called on Friday August 16 and were able to leave a message asking her to stop by and look at the plantings. In response to our call that same day Beth responded in email "I can come by next week sometime. Although just so we're clear it will be $250 for me to come as I spent all my hours and time allocated on your previous project." We had spent just under $12,000 on this project, our contractual agreement had a 60 day warranty on the plants less 10% and by this time a little over 10 weeks later, not only had some Verbena died but one of the five Grevilleas was dead, and all the five flats of Celosia were failing. On August 18 in response to her email we sent her pictures of the dead Grevillea and dying Celosia. We said in part "We tried to contact you in a timely manner, but you were not available. We believe you owe us one more visit to review any warranty obligations, and help us figure out why so many plants have died." We didn't necessarily expect her to replace our plants, but just wanted to figure out what happened and what plants we should now install that would have a better chance of surviving. Pictures are included, showing the conditions of the plants. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING USING BETH BUTTON AND INSIDE OUT DESIGN BUILD PROCEED CAUTIOUSLY. She was able to come out within the week to see our space and start capturing some ideas of what we were wanting. We had struggled with a complete vision for the space, but had a few concepts we knew we wanted. Beth was able to creatively ensure we stayed within our budget and get all the elements we were looking for in her landscape design. She has a gift for really hearing her clients and designing a beautiful space to match. Once Beth's crew got started the project moved quickly and smoothly. It was exciting to see the progress at the end of each day. We felt super comfortable with her team being at our home. We can't thank Manuel, Tino, Alberto, Jaime, and Lalo enough for all of their hard work and making the design plans come to life. They are all extremely hard workers, skilled, and knowledgeable in their trade. If we had any questions, Manuel, the foreman, was always willing and able to answer them and often provided some education along the way, which we found very helpful. It's awesome to have our own little retreat and a space the entire family enjoys being in. Due to the pandemic, we haven't been able to share the space as much as we'd like, but those that have seen it have told me it looks like something out of a magazine. Thank you Beth! We were so happy with the outcome of our backyard, that at the end of 2020, we had Beth and her crew back out to landscape our front yard as well. Although the project was a smaller one, the outcome was the same. Another beautiful space and awesome job done! I highly recommend Inside Out Design & Build if you are looking to do any outdoor projects.
