Meleah and her stylists Anastasia and Joy did a wonderful job styling me, my bridesmaids, and my mom for my wedding. Everyone looked and felt beautiful! They were also very flexible with the layout of my suite--I did my best to set it up for their needs but I wasn't able to get enough barstool chairs from our hotel, however they were able to work around this and had great attitudes. Highly recommend! read more

Meleah and her hair and makeup team were truly a joy to work with. I was organizing everything from out of town, and she made the process feel calm, clear, and so well organized. Meleah is *the* expert you want on your hair/makeup team for any big event. Meleah wrangled 16 different services for our wedding party in May 2025 and was an absolute dream to work with. She gave specific and personalized instructions for each bridesmaid's hair type, and was keen to bring each gal's vision to life with excellence. She is responsive, organized, kind, compassionate, creative, and a hard worker. I have never loved my hair more than when Meleah did it for both my trial and big day - to say she knows what she is doing is an understatement. Meleah - Hair Salons Near Me

My daughter and I did a makeup and skincare consultation with Meleah in May 2025. At 75, my main concerns were replenishing skin moisture and making my eyes "pop" since I'd recently had cataract surgery. (I had worn glasses for 30 years and found it impossible to apply mascara or liner!) I thought that the age spot, the size of a dime, on my left cheek was a lost cause.  Meleah recommended an easy skin care routine that includes her retinol serum and a weekly enzyme scrub. I was skeptical about retinol because I had tried retinol before without knowing the correct dose (.5%) or how to correctly apply it. With Meleah's tips, I started to see changes very quickly. What amazed me was that the age spot has faded significantly in just six months and is invisible when I apply the makeup recommended by Meleah!  The results have been noticeable and natural! My face is brighter, wrinkles have been diminished and my eyes are now well defined. I receive compliments again, something that I thought was part of my past!  I recommend Meleah because she is an expert who relates well and listens to your concerns. Her products are reasonably priced and effective. What more could you want? read more

Meleah was amazing! For our first dance, we decided to do a fun mash-up which consisted of some complicated steps and moves. Now, the groom was a natural and learned the choreography easily and quickly. I, however, was a nightmare, I had no rhythm, I kept leaning, tightening up and wanting to lead, instead of letting the groom lead me. Despite all of this, our dance went well and the guests loved it. Meleah did the very best she could to make me feel comfortable, relaxed and confident. I would highly recommend her. She's very professional, sweet, talented and experienced. read more

Meleah did my makeup for a Subday beach wedding and I absolutely loved it! She was such a positive, calming presence during a very busy day and it was a privilege to watch her artistry at work! She listened to what I wanted and worked with my features and hair type so well! I didn't end up doing a trial due to budget constraints but she was really understanding. The makeup and hair held up beautifully throughout the day! read more

I worked with Meleah to get my makeup done for a maternity photoshoot. She was very communicative and accommodating (I ended up needing to reschedule the photoshoot and makeup because of weather). Meleah was attentive to my specific requests and concerns, and checked with me in making adjustments throughout to make sure I was happy with the final look. Photos were at sunset, but because of our schedules Meleah did my makeup in the morning. I was very pleased that the makeup lasted all day and the lashes stayed put even in windy conditions. The only refresh I did between 9am and 7pm was a tiny touch of powder. Overall I was very pleased and would gladly work with Meleah again! read more

Meleah is the only hair and makeup artist that I would recommend and book for any occasion! I was looking for an artist who has experience with Asian hair and makeup. After I looked through her Instagram (@meleahandco), I immediately contacted her to schedule a virtual meeting. Her prices are very reasonable and I am so happy with the results! read more

I recently took a class with Meleah and found it to be a truly enriching experience. She took the time to walk me through foundational skincare knowledge--things I didn't have the opportunity to learn growing up--and explained how our skincare needs evolve as we age. This part of the class was incredibly valuable and would be especially helpful for anyone new to makeup or skincare like me. One note for those with darker skin tones: the makeup used during the session contains sunscreen, which can leave an ashy finish. Also, the products available for purchase after the class are boutique-priced, as you'd expect from a small business, so it's worth doing a bit of research if budget is a concern--many similar items are available online at lower prices. That said, Meleah's teaching style is thoughtful, informative, and genuinely caring. She clearly wants everyone to walk away feeling more confident and informed about their skin. I would definitely recommend her classes to anyone looking to build a strong foundation in skincare and makeup. read more

Just over 15 years ago, I met Meleah when I wanted to revamp my make up after losing a lot of weight. Over the years, we have met regularly. Meleah taught me how to apply my make up, explained why some color palettes work well and others don't, and how I can modify my make up for special occasions. Over those years we played around with make up choices and application as she shared helpful hints. Throughout Meleah has been supportive, caring, and a delight with whom to spend time. Three years ago I left San Diego and Meleah and I are still going strong. We visit when I am in town and I email her when I need to refill make up or to see if she has a new lipstick shade or eye shadow that I might like. Meleah keeps a meticulous list of all I have purchased and so everything fits together. I last saw Meleah a few weeks ago and she showed me a different way to apply eye shadow. When I asked her questions a week or so later she emailed/texted twice with specific suggestions. I have learned so much from Meleah - enjoying the process along the way. She is a patient teacher who doesn't push her products. Her products are affordable and for an allergic person like me I have had no reactions. Now I buy my products from her exclusively - more affordable, easy to do and I don't have items that I never use because they are the wrong shades. Simply, if you are seeking to change up your look, or looking for someone to put a look together for a special event, I recommend that you visit with Meleah. She is an awesome, talented, professional. read more

I had a great experience with Meleah! I booked her to do my hair and makeup on my wedding day. We arranged for a 2-hour time slot in her studio. She was very responsive and asked for photos of my hair beforehand and any styles I was interested in. Her website is very helpful and has hundreds of hairstyles to choose from! On arrival her studio is large, clean, and professional. Meleah was wonderful and managed to do my hair and makeup within 1.25 hours, and it looked great. The total cost was $125 for both services, which was very reasonable. My hair stayed up all day and night and I had no issues. She did a great job on my makeup as well, and made it look natural and not too overpowering. Overall I think she did a great job and would highly recommend her to anyone! read more

Meleah - Bridal hair - Hair Salons Near Me

Let me preface by saying I only got my hair styled by Meleah. I was a bridesmaid and the bride graciously paid for my hair so I have no idea how much it was. I met Meleah for the first time the morning of the wedding. She did my hair first before the bride. The bride sent me a set of instructions that went along the lines of adding mousse to wet hair and providing pictures of how I wanted it. To be frank, I read the instructions, but I didn't carry them out. I wasn't sure the purpose of the mousse and had never used it before. I didn't know how my hair would react and I didn't want to go buy a bottle just to use it once. I reassured Meleah that my hair could hold curls. She didn't believe me until she curled it. I loosely told her how I wanted my hair to be. She went with it and gave me something better than I pictured in my head. She's super talented and creative. With lots of pins and hairspray, my hair stayed all night. It was a very hot and humid day. The products she uses are high quality. My hair stayed perfectly and it wasn't full of crunchy hairspray (you know what I'm talking about). I thought he bride's hair was perfect and it stayed flawless through the day as well. Meleah was awesome to work with. She was very professional and you can tell she puts lots of passion into her work. Honestly, she was so full of energy and positivity, and that's the type of attitude you want at the start of a busy and important day. read more

Maleah is an amazing makeup artist and stylist. She did an excellent job for me and my sister's hair and make up on my wedding day. I received so many compliments about my look. She is very caring and truly a professional. She also gave me and my husband dance lessons for our first dance and everyone praised how well we danced. I had my makeup and hair done recently for a friend's wedding. When I read the instructions email, I was immediately concerned...there was a section about bringing your own foundation if you have a dark or difficult to match complexion. It also asked that you blow dry and smooth your own hair. To be frank- this is a reasonable request assuming you're not black! Lol. That is a huge undertaking, and is an absolutely essential service if you're paying someone to style you. Although Meleah and her team were kind and friendly, I definitely felt "othered" and it was very clear that there was a lack of experience and familiarity with women of color. The stylist didn't even use heat protectant on my hair before heat styling which is very damaging :( I was happy with my makeup. I have a very fair complexion. But the hairstylist asked my ethnicity, and even a well-meaning compliment was a micoraggression: When my hair was smoothed, Meleah commented on how "wild" it had been naturally. I kept my mouth shut from beginning to end because the day was not about me, yet without having so much as raised an eyebrow- the bride herself apologized to me. Sadly I would not recommend this business if anyone in the bridal party is a black woman. read more

Meleah - Hair and Makeup by Maleah - Hair Salons Near Me

I loved having Meleah do my wedding hair and makeup! She is highly talented, skilled and experienced, and I loved how it all looked. My hair and makeup stayed flawless through a long, windy day - I didn't want to take it off at the end of the night! We did two hair and makeup trials with me to nail down the look I wanted, and she listened to my concerns and questions to help me land on a look that I loved. She even helped me fix my crazy asymmetrical eyebrows leading up to the big day ;) On the day of the wedding, she brought enough hair/makeup artists with her so that no one was waiting around to get prettied up. She has high quality makeup and hair tools, a huge variety of colors and false lashes (which she applies like the pro she is!) and is intensely organized. On top of all that, she is so reasonably priced! read more

Meleah - Hair Salons Near Me

I honestly can't say enough great things about my experience with Meleah. She's a wonderful person who is incredibly interesting. She's mult talented and have a great studio. Now on to my experience. I had a shoot with a company who does boudoir photography and they do not provide hair and makeup. I waited too long to figure that out and couldn't even get an appointment at drybar. I got so lucky! Not only was Meleah free and willing to take me last min. But she worked with me to figure out the very best time for me to come in to keep everything stress-free. She took me the next day no hassle. Throughout my time sitting with Meleah I learned some beauty info I had never known before. Hair and makeup myths busted. I would like to take the time to recognize how unusual it is for someone to be both a hair and makeup artist. Meleah told me the price over the phone and for longish hair and full photo makeup she charged only $135.....ummmm when was the last time you went to get your hair done and it was under that price? When I lamented not knowing her for my own wedding explaining that hair and makeup artist charge through the nose because it's her wedding. Meleah informed me that that's her price. Doesn't matter if it's your wedding or a special occasion. It's fantastic at what she does. Now let's talk about her makeup line. Not only is everything again, very affordable, but she was able to cure my incredibly chapped lips. Over the course of the day I watched my lips look healthier and happier. I bought that vitamin C lipstick on clear and pomegranate. I bought the gorgeous shade of lipstick she chose for my look and something else I can't recall. All of it with $10 lashes... What were absolutely perfect in my Asian eyes, came to admit $40. I don't know about you, but when I leave Sephora I've definitely spent more than $40 and I probably couldn't get anything I really need in there for under $40... Basically it's a steal and I almost feel guilty that she is so wonderfully priced. She was wonderful to talk with, finished early, and I didn't have to break the bank to look flawless. I can't wait to have her work on my have again!...oh, and she also does brows and had very helpful tips for my shoot. I'll post a photo from the shoot but for now I have a photo of me waiting in a lobby of a hotel NOT looking like a hooker in full face photo makeup.... Which is so incredibly rare. If you can book her for your wedding you can rest assured, bride to bride, she's who you want. If you just have something special to go to or do, she's still your best choice. You can rest easy knowing she's going to really take care of you and that you'll be so thrilled when she's done. read more

While searching the Internet for a make-up artist for my wedding, I stumbled upon Makeup, Hair & Dance by Meleah and, boy, am I happy I did! Meleah is great! She is quick to respond (unlike so many other makeup artists I had reached out to) and is so accommodating. At first, I just wanted my makeup done, then I decided to add my hair, then my fiancé decided to have his hair (and makeup) done, then we decided to have her teach us some dance steps, and the list goes on! For each addition, Meleah was happy to take on the task. On our wedding day, my hair looked fabulous, my makeup was impeccable, my fiancé looked very handsome, and our dance was so much fun! We had a wonderful, memorable day, but it wouldn't have been nearly so wonderful without Meleah's help. I can't express enough how grateful I am to have found her! read more

Meleah blew everyone away with her dance instruction for 2 different sets of my friend couples this past wedding season...UH-mazing! Couple #1 were a same sex male twosome - No one ever imagined the level of "WOW" that she could pull out of two men dancing together after seeing their first couple of rounds...lots of stepping on toes initially became the videography focus of their wedding only weeks later. They still tell me regularly that basically she acted as a couples' counselor through their classes. She's a wizard! Couple #2 blew the doors off with her help in choreographing their recent Amalfi Coast wedding, it was just MAGICAL! They rocked the villa with Meleah's careful tips & suggestions!! Last, I have adopted her to cut my hair (shhh, I don't want this getting out to the masses, or I'll never get an appointment) and have started buying her own line of makeup. It's high quality at a reasonable price. THANK YOU, MELEAH for providing so much quality in your art and for the loving care you gave to my friends! read more

Meleah took care of hair and makeup for my wife and her bridesmaids, and they all looked amazing - my review however is specifically for our dance lessons. Let me say that, as most men are, I was very reluctant to take dance lessons for our first dance. The idea of something planned out struck me as odd because I simply wanted to enjoy the moment and look into my new brides eyes as we danced to our song. However, thanks to Meleah I came around and by time we had our moment in the spotlight it all worked out. Meleah was great to work with, very patient, but also very persistent in making sure we were doing our moves correctly. Little did we know that we had picked a song with both fast and slow beat which made it a bit challenging; but it was amazing in the end. I have a new found respect for dancers as its much more difficult than I had ever anticipated. Our private lessons in Meleah's home studio were great, no groups - just the two of us. In the end, I would whole heartedly recommend Meleah to anyone. She knows her stuff, has good prices, and is great to work with. My only advice; practice, practice, practice. read more

I'm so glad that I found Meleah. I'm just beginning to record videos to promote my business. I usually don't wear any makeup. I need someone who can make me look good on videos but still looking natural. Meleah did just that! She gave me a private makeup lesson to teach me how to achieve the effects I wanted. She is an amazing makeup artist. She analyzed my facial structure and quickly showed me how to apply the makeup myself. Within 30 minutes, I was transformed and video-ready! I had one of my best photos taken and still looked natural. I'm very happy with the results. On top of that, the techniques are not complex and don't require expensive supplies. What can I say about Meleah? Just Wow! She's super knowledgeable about hairstyles, hair textures, make-up, skincare techniques, like everything. I had to cancel my Seattle wedding due to do COVID-19. Best bridal hair and makeup in the world!!! If I could give Meleah and every singlle one of her team members more than 5 stars, I would. She truly made my special day just amazing. It doesn't matter how good a photographer is, if hair and makeup look amateur, it's no good... But you are in the very best hands with Meleah :) We had planned our wedding very spontaneously, with no more than 2 weeks notice for all of it - and finding someone I can trust and who would be available seemed impossible. She actually had another wedding on the same day and managed squeezed me in anyways! The schedule worked perfect, no one was rushed and my hair and makeup as well as 4 bridesmaids came out looking the best we've ever looked. Ever. Because everything was on such short notice and we actually didn't arrive in town until the night before our wedding date, there was not even a chance to meet in person or do a hair style test run. All she had to work with was photos of all of us and more pictures of ideas what we'd like to look like. I was nervous but not disappointed. And I'm convinced that I couldn't have picked a better person to make us look beautiful. Thank you Meleah. You are the very very best! Should have seen my husbands face when he saw me :) read more

Meleah is awesome! I had a terrific experience with her and I will definitely keep her in mind for future events! I don't like to wear a ton of makeup. I believe that the "less is more" philosophy works best for me and I like using natural products whenever possible. However, one day I felt like spoiling myself with a makeup lesson from Meleah, after reading about her online. I wanted a simple daytime look, nothing fancy. She was quick to respond and we set up a one on one session for $50 which lasted about two hours in her cute studio (seriously, it is super charming and well decorated). When Meleah mentioned the "less is more" philosophy, I knew I found the right lady! Meleah not only found the perfect shade match for my skin quickly, which has always been difficult for me since I tan easily and I can never seem to find the right color, but she shared a ton of tips with me that I found very useful. I took notes on what I can do for skin care, contour, etc. She told me to come with a clean face and to bring my current makeup. Not only did she show me how to apply products on in the mirror, but we sorted through my ancient makeup bag which truthfully needed a makeover itself. She helped me figure out how to use what I already have and suggested what I should probably get rid of (wrong shade, too oily, etc). I also bought a few of Meleah's products as they looked great on my face and were very reasonably priced. The costs were similar to what you would find in a drugstore but far better quality wise! Meleah never made me feel pressured to buy anything - I didn't feel like I was hearing a sales pitch or anything like that. She was fun, kind and obviously talented at her job. I give her a full five stars without hesitation :) read more

I just can't say enough good things about Meleah!! My husband and I showed up at her doorstep wanting to do a special dance for our 10 year wedding anniversary party. We struggled at first with what kind of dance to do and more importantly who was going to lead!! Meleah showed patience, encouragement, and a wonderful sense of humor as she guided us on our dance instruction journey. We laughed a lot, learned a ton, and most importantly, had a blast actually dancing a rumba at our party. Also to note, her smartly choreographed routine really played off our strengths and personalities and had the room cheering by the end of the dance. Meleah is a great dancer, teacher, and just plain wonderful human. I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone who wants a special dance memory!!! read more

I hired Meleah to do my hair and makeup for my wedding on January 7, 2017. Her bridal service was $135 if done at her salon or $200 if done at my hotel. I opted to go with the $200 since it wouldn't require me to drive 35 minutes south and then 35 minutes back north on the morning of my wedding. I thought her prices were reasonable and fair. I went to her salon to do a hair and makeup trial about 2 months before my wedding. She charged me $50 (I had an online discount, normally it is $99) for the hair and makeup trial, and another $30 for a trim for the hair. The trim was not worth it. I didn't feel that confident with what she did for me. I didn't feel like "me". Meleah does hair and makeup for dancers and that's her specialty. She seems to try to apply that to brides and it does not work! When I got home, I altered some of the hair and makeup and felt much better. I expressed my concerns to Meleah and sent her a picture of what I would like to have changed. On the day of, she was on time. I liked how she did my makeup. She certainly heard me out on that one. However, the hair wasn't quite there. She charged me an additional $6 for two small pins that she quickly inserted into my hair, which I felt was a decision she rushed me into (right when I had to start moving my belongings out of the hotel). The main reason why I gave her 3 stars is because I notified her 1 day in advance of my room number and the fact that my hotel charges $25 for parking/$20 valet. I suggested that she park next to the hotel, which would have been no more than a 5 minute walk. She seemed to have gotten the first part and totally neglected my parking suggestion to her. I found out a few days later that my credit card was charged to valet her car. If I had to pay to park near her salon, would I have had her pay that? No. Did I charge Meleah for the gas it took to drive from LA to her salon in SD for my trial? No. She had already charged me an extra $65 to have her come up to my hotel on my wedding day to do my hair and make up. Now she just charged me $20 more. All in all, Meleah's services did not match up to how much she costed me, including having me pay her valet on the morning of my wedding. At least inform me about it rather than waiting for me to find out on my credit card statement!! Totally unprofessional! I was choosing between Meleah and another vendor (2 people performing services), where Meleah was $150 cheaper. Now that I think about it, I should have paid that extra money for the latter service. I will not be returning to Meleah or suggesting her services. read more

4.5 stars, only thing was wish that Meleah could've provided her own portable chair to do our bridal party hair versus sitting in an awkward position. I found Meleah on the Best 10 News List for San Diego. She actually taught my hubby and I our first dance with private lessons. What a great teacher considering my other half is quite stiff in the legs! It was fun learning to dance, learning certain body structures, techniques to look as natural as possible. She also did our bridal party hair for my bridesmaids, mothers, and I for our wedding. Considering I have very thick, healthy straight hair, it was a challenge to determine a hair do that worked for me that I envisioned, but could keep up from early morning till nighttime since I had a morning Chinese wedding tea ceremony with the families and then an American wedding ceremony later on the evening! I highly recommend Meleah (with any stylist before your wedding day, doing a hair trial is a must) and would consider her services for hair or dance lessons again! read more
