When I was planning for my original wedding for 10/10/20, I reached out to Shelby (WELL in advance) but sadly she was already booked. Fast forward to peak covid, we made the decision to postpone the wedding to 10/23/21 and the only vendor that wasn't able to accommodate our new date was the MUA I previously hired. I immediately reached out to Shelby for the 2nd time, hopeful that she'd be available for the new date, and she was! I knew it was meant to be so I hired her on the spot before doing my trial. I was an out of town bride so we ended up doing a trial a few months later when I was visiting for the weekend and she made all of my wedding makeup dreams come true. I'm a makeup lover and wanted FULL GLAM for the big day and Shelby delivered 1000%! On top of her extremely talented makeup skills, she is incredibly sweet, has the best energy/so fun to be with and we hit it off instantly. I even decided to do a 2nd trial/glam sesh when I was in town again a couple months before the wedding, just because! Shelby recently opened up her own makeup glam bar/studio Toniq, and we decided to use the studio to get ready on wedding day. It was literally a dream! Toniq is THE most fabulous studio ever and I still can't even believe we had such an amazing location to get ready. We had 9 girls total for both makeup & hair and more than enough space for all of us to glam, and set up breakfast and drinks. Shelby is incredibly accommodating - provided ice, drink coolers, and even surprised us all with babe rosè (which of course we had to use in our getting ready photoshoot)! When we arrived, she already had the music playing and the mood was set for the best glam day ever. Again, it was literally a dream! If you are getting married in San Diego and have the option to get ready at Toniq, I absolutely recommend it. Our getting ready photos are better than I ever imagined and look like they belong in a bridal magazine! Shelby - thank you for everything! Postponing our wedding was challenging, but I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and I'll be forever thankful & grateful to have had you as our MUA. There are simply not enough words to express my gratitude, but I'm so happy I had the chance to work with you and now have so many amazing photos and videos to relive all of the best moments getting glammed with my girls for the big day. Brittany also did my 13 year old's hair and makeup for the wedding. I was worried about her looking too mature but Brittany did her makeup so perfectly, it just highlighted her features in such a soft, natural way... I was honestly speechless. I'm an anxious worrier but I never had to give a second thought to my hair/makeup/veil. Brittany added body glow and left behind a little touch up kit that had everything I needed. She even helped my mom with her makeup and lashes and squeezed in a friend who needed last minute hair and makeup services. My hair and makeup lasted all night, looked fabulous, and I felt like a star. I would hire Brittany again in a heartbeat to do anything makeup or hair related. I sent her an email to inquire about her availability and she responded the next day. Hien only does makeup and she collaborates with another artist to style hair. Hien was the only point of contact and so all questions were directed to her for both hair and makeup. Hien was friendly, professional, and quick to respond to any of my questions throughout the entire process. I scheduled my trial with her on the day of my engagement photo shoot and LOVED how my makeup turned out. She assesses how comfortable you are with makeup and asks what your preferences are so that she can get a sense of what would be most suitable. I really appreciated that she provided suggestions on what to do if I were to cry or if my skin got oily. By the end of the day, my makeup still looked great despite sweating a little from running around on the beach. On the day of the wedding, she came on time at 7AM and set up all of her things very quickly. Hien and Metzli did HMU for my mom, the groom's mom, and myself. They were able to finish hair and makeup for all three of us by 10AM as promised, and everyone was very happy with their look. My mom even said that her makeup looked better compared to when she had her makeup done for my brother's wedding a few years ago. My makeup still looked great even after all the sweating I did from dancing by the end of the night. I would absolutely recommend Hien to anyone looking to get their makeup done for any occasion

On the wedding day, the base would be half-up, half-down and then turned into a low bun. On the wedding day, Chi Hang and her team were right on time and ready to go at 6:00 AM! I absolutely loved the two gals she brought with her: Pari and Lucy. My sister is usually so quiet, shy, and not super into doing hair and makeup. But I could hear her laughing and chit chatting away. I know my girls felt at ease working with Chi Hang, Pari, and Lucy. They really take into consideration what their clients want and make it happen! My mom was very impressed and whew, it can be hard to impress her. The whole process was very well organized and timely. She had sent me a spreadsheet of the breakdowns of who does what and what at time. We were on schedule, which was a relief to me because I have been a part of a wedding party where one of the bridesmaids was missing from the tea ceremony due to the makeup artist miscalculating timing. My wedding was the end of August so it was still very hot out! However, my hair and makeup stayed great throughout the whole day. She gave me a little kit to help touch up any pieces. It was such a sweet touch. I'm so grateful that I went with JP Charming for my wedding! She is so kind and really wants to know what you like. Kandice completely exceeded my expectations! I am VERY particular about my makeup, to the point of which I almost just did my own for my wedding... But luckily I had a friend who led me to some of Kandice's work on the internet, AMAZING! So I immediately contacted her to set up a trial. Being from Arizona, but planning to get married in San Diego, my availability was very strict. I was planning to make a trip to California to deal with my wedding cake & was going to be there only 48 hours. However, even with such short notice, Kandice made sure to fit me into her schedule. The trial went perfect, I was beyond happy with the end result. & as mentioned in other reviews, there was a huge bonus, because she is one of the sweetest most genuine people I have ever met. Let's be honest here, I was a bit nervous leading up to the trial because I have met several makeup artist in the past who were less than pleasant to deal with. But from the minute Kandice walked in the door, there was nothing but good vibes. Leading up to my wedding she texted me several times, which I loved, because I wasn't freaking out last minute wondering if she was still showing up or if we were on the same page. I can begin by saying that i am not a makeup person what so ever. My everyday routine is just a light mineral powder. Back in high school i needed a makeup artist for formals, proms etc. I had seen kandice's work through mutual friends and on the internet so i decided to contact her on being my makeup artist. When my first formal came around she was there. I had to warn her that i knew NOTHING about makeup and that i was scared of something dramatic. So she worked with my request and BAMM made me feel absolutely so perfect!! Not to mention she is the sweetest, cutest little thing. She made me feel so comfortable and i was so in love with my face! Kandice was AMAZING!!! I hired her to do my wedding makeup as well as my 4 bridesmaids 2 weeks ago and she made us all look beautiful!! All of our skin tones were pretty different and she used the perfect makeup for each of us! She was so professional and so sweet it made my big day that much better!! Being punctual is very important to me and not only was she on time and ready to go with her all her makeup for my wedding day, but she did the same for my trial. Kandice is so sweet in fact that I had asked her if she could do my trial the day of my bridal shower which was about a month before my actual wedding day and unfortunately she let me know that she was booked that day and could not do it. The night before my bridal shower she emailed me to let me know that one of her clients pushed her time back for that Saturday and if I still wanted her to come do my trial early that morning. I was so happy she remembered and was able to squeeze me in!! Kandice is absolutely amazing! When it comes to your wedding day, you pretty much want to look and feel the most beautiful you have ever felt.... And Kandice blew me away by the amazing job she did not only on my make up, but every one of my bridesmaids, my mom and mother in law and a few other family members. Kandice is more than amazing! She did my makeup for prom and was astonished by the beautiful job she did on me. I just recently had her do my makeup again because I had loved how she had done my purple smokey eye for my prom. This time I wanted a more dramatic look and was very pleased with the results. She is extremely talented at enhancing someone's natural beauty. All of us (my maid of honor, mom, mother-in-law and sisters-in-law) looked amazing! The makeup looked natural and everything stayed on perfectly all night. When I showed up to my trial, she was so prepared and had created a mood board of sorts, to help identify what colors and look I wanted. She listened to what I was looking for and made adjustments on the fly. To top it off, she is also one of the sweetest people ever with such a genuine personality! She was so easy to talk to. I don't live in San Diego (we were just there for the wedding), but I hope that I have an excuse to get my makeup done in San Diego again, so I can use Kimm!

The previous…read moreartist did not know how to work with my skin type and my makeup did not last for more than an hour. I found Kimm and emailed her asking if she was comfortable with oily skin and she immediately responded stating she knew how to work with all skin types. I trusted her response and booked my trial. I'm so happy I did! From beginning to end she listened to what I wanted and used products that suited my skin type. She mentioned each step and how it will work for me. She was extremely kind and made sure my Maid of Honor was welcomed and comfortable during the trial. After Kimm finished, immediately I looked over to my Maid of Honor and we gave each other that look and I knew she will be my artist for my Wedding Day! I loved Kimm so much that I contacted her again to do my makeup for a wedding that I was attending. She of course did amazing work once again! I want to mention during each time I emailed Kimm she promptly responded each time. My wedding day came and she was there on time with an additional artist to accommodate the time I needed to be done. Again beautiful work! My mom loved her makeup! Kimm made it fun and all the bridesmaids loved her! When I sat down I knew I was in great hands. The previous day I made my own touch up bag to use during the wedding because I was afraid my makeup wouldn't last during photos and the ceremony but I'm being completely honest I DID NOT HAVE TO USE IT ONCE. Her makeup lasted from begging to end on my wedding and I cried multiple times! I received so many compliments! Thank you again Kimm! You will forever be my Makeup Artist!

I danced, I laughed, cried, and sweat, by the end of the day it still looked fresh, as well as my hair that she styled. She gave me tips on what style of lashes and makeup fits me more which makes it feel like she really cares about her brides. On top of that she's fun to talk to but also very professional. What I loved most about Nancy's work the first time was that I literally cried my eyes out at my sister's wedding, and I remember thinking my make up was absolutely ruined, and when I looked in the mirror I had never looked better. The make up stayed Until the next day. The second thing that I loved most about Nancy's work is that she has experience working with little to no eyebrow hair and drawing on eyebrows. This was perfect for me since I do not have eyebrow hair she listened to my critique and made me feel comfortable with somebody else doing something that is very particular to me. Nancy is experienced in all shades and skin textures. She provides you prep work before the day of make up. Nancy makes you a glowing model every single time. I got my makeup done for a wedding. I came a little unprepared, but I let her know that I'd like a fresh, natural look, and a smokey eye. The makeup she used felt so nice and light on. She worked fast and had time to give me tips on doing my own makeup as well. I'm very happy with how my makeup turned out even though I'm not use to having a darker smokey eye. I trusted her and I left a happy camper. Also, my makeup lasted all day (8am-1am). How amazing is that? The makeup literally looked flawless throughout the day. The only thing I would change for next time is to ask for better coverage on my scars and to bring a pic of how I usually do my brows. Overall, I'll be hiring Emily for my future events.
