The winners were the birria inspired tacos, loaded Filipino fries, Cajun shrimp skewer, ube cheesecake, and baked goods/desserts. Unfortunately the others had areas of improvement and left us wanting more. We had high hopes for more spicy & flavorful Jamaican food, richer Dubai chocolate strawberries, and actual calamansi the drink we ordered. Unfortunately I don't recall all of the businesses we tried from, you'll have to reference the pictures. Environment/Vibes: 4 out of 5 Cool vibes, picnic tables for seating, and a strategically placed porta potties and handwashing stations. The organizers did a great with how the venue was set up! Overall: 3.5 out of 5 I enjoyed this themed night market! Clearly I'm biased and prefer flavorful over Instagramable items. So far I prefer this food event over Foodie Land due to the mostly AAPI focused food vendors and shopping booths. Not going to lie the prices will be inflated since the vendors have to pay "rent" for the space they take up. Strategically go with at least 4-5 people so you can try different things. I thought a lot of the vendors did a great job with fusion inspired items.

It usually happens about 2 - 3 weekends a year, so check out their website or follow them on social media to stay tuned for their dates. Parking is in their lot (paid parking), unless you could find nearby parking (no parking in the neighboring plazas - they may strictly enforce it, so better be safe than sorry). Coming early is recommended, so you do not have to wait in the long line of cars to get in the parking lot to park and to get through security at the entrance. There are a good amount of food and merchandise vendors with some from SoCal as well! Some are local restaurants that have some off of menu items / special exclusive items for this event only.

It's a Mexican chain from AZ (popular I think, they have like 53K followers on Instagram), and they just opened multiple locations in Bay Area, so this time I decide to finally give it a try. I ordered the Tripa Mulitas, Torta, and Horchata drink, Mulitas was $7, Torta $14, and Horchata was $7. They're all delicious, I was actually shocked at the first bite because I didn't know Mexican food could be this great (like I ate at a lot of Mexican place before, but this place is just chef's kiss). You seriously have to try their torta!! It has grilled meat, cheese, avocado, lettuce and tomato, all packed in there. Together with their green sauce, red sauce and some of the onion & jalapeno salad, I'm good for the whole day. The flavors are just so authentic and hit the spot perfectly. I totally get why there is always a line now. They officially converted me into a regular from today! If you see a crowd, just jump in line, it's worth the wait.

I can't believe no one has written about this little food stand!…read more My fiance and I paid a visit to the vet this Saturday and were heading to Costco. We saw that a small Farmer's Market was going on in the Bishop Ranch complex #3 (adjacent to GE Software's lot). Since we needed vegetables that Costco probably wouldn't have (or have in the mega Duggar family pack), we decided to make a quick detour into this small farmer's market. Man, are we glad we did. I mean this FM is much, much smaller than the one we went to in Pleasanton. But at the end of the rows of vegetable and other stalls was this delicious aroma of grilled food. Since we hadn't eaten lunch and Costco food was NOT a healthy option, we decided to take a peek at Gorgeous Gorilla. While I don't want to make a definitive statement about the ethnic origin of the food, my guess is either Jamaican or (generically) Caribbean. They had Jerk chicken, Oxtail, shrimp, and grilled salmon. Also they serve their plate meals with red beans and rice. Oh snap, I love red beans and rice! And best of all: fried plantains. They also serve it with a small side of a fruit salad which is heavy on the mangos. Nice. We also ordered a positively awesome strawberry fruit drink which we know used fresh strawberries from a vendor down the row of veggie stands. We saw him deliver two boxes of strawberries while we ate lunch. We shared a jerk chicken plate and that was enough for us because we didn't want to fill up too much before shopping. The flavors were AMAZING on every part of the meal, esp the chicken. while I've had much spicier jerk chicken in the past, this one was one I'd consider a very mild jerk flavor. Maybe if I ask for what the locals would eat would they turn it up a notch. They let me know that they are there every Thursday in the same lot, so I'm going to make another trip next week as this Thursday I won't be in the area. But for now, here's some pics to whet your appetite!

I'll never forget standing around eating one after another between swigs of Modelo with friends... California tacos have always been generally great, but this place is special. Since Oaxaca, I've only had as good al pastor in Mexico City last year in a similar setting. So I'm super excited and grateful that Vallejo now has its own amazing popup serving these incredible tacos, and more. My husband is a burrito guy with a big appetite, yet the servings are so hearty he can only eat half in one sitting. And my al pastor tacos sent me back to that Oaxaca bus stop with adventures ahead. Sitting on a busy corner parking lot, this place is super popular so expect to wait, plus parking can be tricky. All said, the service is efficient and people are patient to wait for what they know is a good thing. While waiting you can bag up your own garnishes like pico, salsa, pickled peppers, sautéed or raw onions, and more. I saw some people enjoy their food in their cars, but both times we brought ours home since we live close and the packaging keeps everything together well. Truly the most authentic Mexican al pastor and more you'll find in Vallejo.

Instead of just plain chocolate, their dark knight milkshake is a mountain of chocolate cake, chocolate fudge, and chocolate sprinkles, all on top of the chocolate gelato blend. And the grasshopper milkshake features peppermint and oreo cookies and crumbles, along with Andes mint candy (my fave) decorating the mint chocolate chip gelato mix. Too many tempting choices, but I had to go with the strawberry shortcake milkshake, made with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, angel cake, and topped off with chocolate fudge and crushed graham crackers... so many layers of flavor I just couldn't resist. As it turns out, the graham cracker crumbs are mainly for decoration, most of it pretty much glued to the plastic mug (not edible). And what shined in this dessert was the "shortcake", not the strawberry. Besides those 3 strawberries on top, I actually didn't get much strawberry flavor from the shake itself. Slightly disappointing, but like I said, the sponge cake and toppings were fresh and tasty, and the gelato wasn't bad, just lacking a sweetness and tartness that you get from actual strawberries, tasted almost watered down. Luckily, the presentation of the drink (served with both a spoon and straw) almost makes up for that. And I love that 50% of their profits go to charity. They're based in Atascadero, but travel to different events and festivals all over, currently at the fair in Pleasanton this summer. Overall, the product and service is decent, with unique offerings on their menu like churro sandwiches which I find intriguing even if I'm more of a milkshake kinda gal. If I could do it again, I'd go with with the mint or chocolate flavor though.
