Vegetable soup with pork, rice, arepa, and fried ripe plantains.

Mekatos is a cute Colombian Bakery & Restaurant in West Kendall that has delicious food at an affordable price. The restaurant is decorated nicely. I ordered a vegetable soup with pork meat. The food was delicious and abundant. The service at the restaurant was great, our waitress made sure we were satisfied with our food and service.

Stopped in for some Colombian empanadas as my husband was craving. They had a lot of options in the bakery case of Colombian deliciousness. I got the empanadas but couldn't resist ordering a Colombian sausage which has such great flavor. The empanadas came with a great sauce and were very plump and yummy. I will be back for more!

Mekatos Colombian restaurant - clean restaurant, good portions, quick service too. Appetizers were fantastic. pan de bono was really fresh and soft. My favorite appetizer was the beef empanada/empanada de carne, crunchy and tastes amazing. I ordered the carne asada / grilled beef, huevos, arepa quesito all very good.

Went again it was good great social distancing and mask requirements. Same decor love it Old Colombian small marketplace. But the food is good . We got four empanadas man they were good wow fresh hot of the frier so good. We ordered2 bandejas paisas. If you ordered steak. They charge you two dollars they came out to 18 dollars each. The meat was soft and plenty of the usual sides but they did only give me half of a chorizo !? I was starving and this is what i want my arepa was hard as a rock thanks god my wife's was good and they sides and chicharron were good .

    My leftovers!

Currently drooling over my plate of Bandeja Paisa. Mekatos Bakery, you've done it again! I'm so thankful to have this authentic Colombian spot by my home, especially since I'm no longer surrounded by an abundance of them. This bakery offers a nice variety of traditional Colombian breads such as pan de bono (guava filled also available), buñuelos, pan de queso, dedos de queso, etc. I adore their morcilla, especially, when they're nice and fresh. Some people think the concept of them is gross, being that they're blood sausage, but I can't help it, they're so yummy. The pan de bonos are another scrumptious breakfast item here. I love pairing them with some pericos (scrambled eggs with peppers) in the morning. Today I tried their Bandeja Paisa for the first time. The price is a bit steep ($14.99) but the plate was massive and I had a ton left over to bring home. The presentation of the plate itself was lovely. It was served to me on a rectangular wooden plate, with the food over a banana leaf. Their paisa consisted of white rice, kidney beans, steak, chicharron, avocado, an arepa de choclo, sausage, and maduros (sweet plantains). The portion was huge, and very filling. Hence why I have plenty left over lol. Service was great as usual, and the restaurant is clean and maintained well. Aside from their usual Colombian country decor, they also have Valentine's Day decorations up. If you haven't bern here yet, I highly recommend checking them out. They might be a small hole in the wall, but they make good stuff!

We had a delicious breakfast: calentado, arepas, arepas de choclo, pan de bono buñuelos, pan de yucca. There are four tables inside and four outdoor tables, and they play Spanish music in the background.

Excellent selection and true Colombian flavor. The food is delicious and plentiful (always hv to go boxes) the fruit juices are always fresh. Pastries and empanadas are a treat. They offer a selection of traditional desserts. Customer service is fast and pleasant, like "at home" vibes. And they follow all safety measures. Mekatos is great food and great value!

Fact: Located on the southwest end corner of a shopping plaza that's on 56 street and 152nd Ave right infront of the Lakes of the Meadows neighborhood. Mekatos has traditional Colombian snacks, everything from pan de bono, buñuelos, chorizo, chicharrones and more. Inside is decorated with Colombian flags and Colombian artisan crafts. It's a bakery but has a small dining area if you prefer to dine in unlike other Colombian bakeries in Kendall. Opinion: I gave this place 3 stars but I easily could've rated Mekatos at 4 stars if it wasn't for the service. The employees are your typical Colombian women who are not very friendly and look miserable when you walk in, I'm Colombian so I'm used to this type of attitude so it doesn't really bother me much. They have a tip jar but if you're the type of person that expects a thank you after putting in a few bucks in that little tip jar, then forget about it, they can careless. As far as the food and ambiance, it's excellent! I had their morcilla which had a good taste not burnt and the skin wasn't tough, same thing for their Colombian chorizo. Their pan de queso and pan de bono were baked perfectly very soft on the inside and their chicharrones are some of the best I've ever had in all of West Kendall, crispy on top and soft non chewy meat on the bottom. With food this good, who needs good service. Highly recommend this place for Colombian snack food in West Kendall, I would put Mekatos as perhaps the number 2 best Colombian bakery in the area. Check it!

One of the best Colombian bakeries in Miami! I had the arepa de choclo, pandebono, and empanada de carne with un cafe con leche, and it was all delicious. My friend tried the recalentado with huevos pericos which I got to try and LOVED. The portion for that was huge and probably would be enough for 3 meals! The servers were very friendly and attentive. What I loved the most about this place were the beautiful Colombian decorations, it made me feel like I was back in Colombia.

It took a little while, but completely understandable and the wait time was convenient for how packed the place was. The only reason I'm giving a four instead of a five was the service was a LITTLE slow. I understand again they were doing as good a job as possible for how packed the place was, but I had asked for water when our server took our order and I didn't get water till every single person at our table had to reask for water and I finally got some post meal. Our server was really nice, but again, took a while to get water, but we got another round of sangria and received those before the water. The place was bumping and people were dancing and having a good time. I would MAYBE check this place out again on a slower day. I hear they have mariachi!

Some Colombian restaurants rent in places where the lease is absorbed by the paying customer in the charge of food- this is simply not the case here This restaurant is a staple of the area and don't be surprised to walk in and hear patrons greet the staff as if they were regulars because they most certainly are familiar faces I ordered a bone broth to start with grilled steak and rice entrée and finished with a cup of coffee that was brewed to perfection This is the kind of place you go for quality food in a cozy environment Parking is somewhat limited out front, which adds to the exclusivity of it unless you're in a walking distance While I was there, I also noticed a multitude of Mobile dining orders, which lets you know plenty of people want with this place has to offer and after having eaten here today, I can completely see why: great food great staff amazing price points

The girl that answered was super friendly and told me they could have them ready for the time I ordered, which was great!! I got to the location for my pick up and the whole parking situation was a mess. I had to park a bit far, which was more of an inconvenience than an actual problem. Once in there, I went to the counter where there were 3 ladies working. I'm literally in front of them and about 4 minutes went by before any of them even acknowledged my presence. I'm the one that finally spoke up and said "buenas tardes" and they acted as if I had just miraculously appeared in front of them. I find this absolutely shocking, as most Colombian restaurants are so welcoming and polite. I ask for my order and they tell me to wait a moment. About another 5 minutes go by and they bring out my order horribly covered with some aluminum foil. In the car I grabbed an empanada to have a taste and it is all burned inside and out. When I got to my gathering I removed the aluminum foil and about 10 empanadas were in the same badly burned condition. These empanadas cost a little over $2 a piece! I paid $90+!! I understand Saturday was the Colombia game and they must have been swamped, but if you can't provide quality product, don't overwhelm yourself by taking on more than your kitchen can handle. The oil must not have been the right temperature cause the empanadas were extremely greasy. Luckily we were able to place them on some paper towels to soak up the grease and most of them were consumed. Everyone said that the taste was decent, but they were definitely over fried. I have no idea what their food and service is if you dine in, however I highly recommend not ordering out. There's much better Colombian places.
