    Double Awesome!
    Fahim R.

Stopped by here for lunch with the kids. The staff is super friendly, and the food is amazing. We had the chicken dumplings, some deep fried, some pan fried. Both were great, the deep fried are crispier, the pan fried softer. I've also tried the potato and cheese dumplings, which are my favorite, and the double awesome, which is the best breakfast sandwich ever. The food comes out quickly. It is on the pricier side for lunch, around $15 for 8 dumplings, but I think it's well worth it for food this good.

I was walking back to the car after a successful spin class next door and stumbled upon Mei Mei Dumplings by accident. I stopped to look at their menu and decided to continue walking. Once I made it back to the car, I decided to walk back because I was incredibly hungry and who doesn't enjoy dumplings? I ordered "The Party", which is a sampler of 3 different dumplings they have on their menu and I was not disappointed. These dumplings were unlike any that I have tried before. I honestly don't have a favorite out of the three because they were all wonderful. The soy aioli complimented the dumplings well & pro tip: ask for spicy onion crisps and mix it in with the sauce... SO YUMS.

What a fun time! I came here for the dumpling making class, and what a great time. They provide you with the materials, filling included, and they teach you 8 or so ways to make the dumplings. It's easy to follow too - there are tv screens projecting the steps, and someone else circulates to help too. You end the evening with cooking your finished product, and there are a few extra fun times in between - competition to be the fastest table to make a particular dumpling, volunteer to cook their dumplings up front, shout outs for birthdays, etc. we had. Our instructors/hosts were Caitlyn and Tina (I hope I got the spelling right), and they were amazing. Cute spot too, and clean - would love to come back here just to eat.

It was my first time visiting Mei Mei. I was in the area and thought I should try it out! It's not too big and not too small. I like that you can see the kitchen in the back, and it looked like they were teaching a class or doing a tour while I was there. Cool!! It was super easy to order. You sit and wait for the food. I ordered the Dumpling Party, which is a sampler of Lemongrass pork, cheddar scallion potato, & 5 spice tofu mushroom dumplings. I like that it came with a little salad too! I liked them and surprising the cheddar scallion potato was my favorite. It reminded me of a pierogi. I would love to try more flavors on a future visit.

Mei Mei Dumplings was a very nice clean restaurant takeout. They even have a special of $28.88 for bottomless dumplings if you eat in house during a certain timeframe. I ordered the lemongrass pork and the lamb dumplings, which reminded me of Momos. I really enjoyed these dumplings, but I wouldn't say they were traditional dumplings like soup, dumplings, or just pork and leek dumplings. But I really like the infrastructure here and it was very spacious. patio was nice. And you can get cocktails here.

Took a dumpling making class here - so fun!! In about 2 hours, you learn how to make several different shapes of dumplings, learn about the history of the business, get to actually cook your own dumplings, and mix your own sauces. Then you eat them! They have beer & cocktails to purchase and take-home dumplings as well. Super fun and awesome and engaging staff!

I popped into Mei Mei for the Double Awesome breakfast sandwich. It's made with two slow poached eggs, local greens pesto, Vermont cheddar, stuffed into a scallion pancake, with sriracha ketchup on the side. It is a real treat, and one you should seek out if you're spending time in Boston. I do recommend adding bacon, which they offer, because I felt it needed a little extra crunch. So good!

I took a dumpling class here on Sunday and had so much fun! Mei Mei is adorable inside and the class is very well done. We were a late signup so we added ourselves to the waitlist the week-of but then we got off of the waitlist the day before. I went with my mom and found it to be a great mother/daughter experience. The dumpling folding was fun and engaging. We ended up with some beautiful and unique dumplings that also tasted great. The only slight downsides to be aware of is that 1. the class is very fast paced and can feel a bit overwhelming at times and 2. there is no designated bartender so if you want to drink an alcoholic beverage then you have to ask one of the two dumpling instructors to find time to make you a drink. Overall, I think the class was great and worth the money. I'll probably be going back to order more dumplings from them in the future!

We recently took a dumpling class with Caitlin and Alyssa. Caitlin was a excellent instructor and Alyssa was very helpful. What and fun way to spend an evening! The course was fantastic and the fruit of our labor was incredible. Both the Lemongrass Pork and Five Spice Tofu Mushroom fillings were delicious. We really enjoyed the snacks they provided and the beer/wine/sake/food that was available for purchase. A class at Mei Mei is a great group event or couples date night activity. I say Yeah Yeah to Mei Mei!

Wow just wow! I've heard great things about Mei Mei's and BOY were they right! The restaurant has a beautiful interior, with a large window to see your dumpling being folded by hand. I love that the menu is small but has enough items that you have choice even if you're a picky eater. Came here for a team lunch, to support a local, women and minority owned business and ordered various dumplings with scallion pancakes. The scallion pancakes are light, crispy and have no evidence of being greasy. I have the lemongrass pork dumplings (pan seared) and they were amazing. They were crispy yet soft and filled with a delicious pork filing. The dumpling came with a vibrant side salad, with colors that make you excited to eat. It was topped with crispy onion and a ginger dressing that I could drink. Even the sauces were great! (Highly suggest the aioli). I also bought some dumplings to go, which I'm going to try just steaming. I would give Mei Mei's 10 stars if I could!

Went here with the family for a dumpling making class. Exceptionally clean, very well organized and terrific teachers. They had it arranged so everyone could see the instructor and there was personalized attention if needed. Very entertaining. We learned to make at least 9 different dumplings shapes. Vegan and meat choices. Super yummy. We then got a lesson in cooking them and got to eat them. Totally hands on and we all made about 18-20 dumplings. Plenty to take home. Highly recommend this woman owned business! It was a perfect day.

The tour made its way down Charles Street and across the common to Park Street, stopping in several places for tastings and talks along the way. I don't want to give away all of their secrets but a few highlights were Beacon Hill Chocolates, a fabulously adorable little shop with amazing artisan chocolates, 75 Chestnut, where we were served a unique and superb toasted almond chocolate soup and the Melting Pot, where we got to try 4 different dessert fondues! A few people mentioned this tour was pricey, but I disagree. Good chocolate is pricey. If you went to Beacon Hill Chocolates on your own, a box of 4 chocolates would have cost you $10. We got to try 2 chocolates and a sample of gelato. A small fondue at the Melting Pot would run you $18. We got to sample 4 different types. And those are just two of the stops! I actually think it was a bargain! The founder actually joined us on the tour and it was apparent that this was his passion and a lot of time and effort went into finding the places to feature on these tours. I really had a great time and I left stuffed! But I can't wait to try another neighborhood for more amazing chocolate discoveries!

This review is for the Cupcake Crawl that Boston Chocolate Tours offers…read more My sister, Mom and I had been on the Back Bay chocolate tour through this company, and had a great time. Our guide was very personable, and each stop consisted of a worker at the shop discussing with us the history of the company, the chocolate they make, interesting facts, etc. Since then, we have gone back to several of the places we discovered on that tour, most notably Hotel Chocolat on Newbury Street. My sister and friends scheduled a private cupcake tour for my bachelorette, figuring it would be along the same caliber. It was not. 1. Not sure if this was the person coordinating the event or the guide, but we were told to park in the Boston Common garage and given the wrong address to the first location. This resulted in half our party having to take a cab to the correct address, and the rest of us doing a 15 min walk, past many other parking garages. We were then almost 20 minutes late meeting our guide. 2. Half our party showed up a few minutes after us since we had been split up, but the guide was hurried and wanted to get started right away without waiting for them, even though it was a PRIVATE tour. She didn't know it was a bachelorette, wasn't overly friendly, and gave us cupcakes from another bakery at Cakeology, but neglected to tell us that, so when I praised the girl working at Cakeology about the amazing chocolate cupcakes, she was completely confused. 3. Obviously cupcake/bakeries are a little more spread around than chocolate stops, but our tour consisted of us walking from Downtown Crossing, to Beacon Hill, to Newbury Street, to behind the Pru by the Christian Science building. We spent more time walking than we did in any of the actual bakeries, learning about the cupcakes, the establishments or even enjoying the actual tasting. At one point, at Georgetown Cupcakes (where we didn't even go inside or get greeted by anyone working there) our guide said let's walk and eat...down Newbury Street, on a busy Saturday afternoon. Not enjoyable. 4. One stop was totally random, at Johnny Cupcakes on Newbury. For those not in the area, it's a niche t-shirt shop, they don't sell cupcakes. They did have cupcakes from a bakery in Malden (why, I'm not sure...because nobody told us). We just kind of stood around in there while our guide chatted with her friends working there until she asked us if we were ready to leave. 5. This is the real annoying part - we walked all the way down Newbury, past the Pru and Hynnes, all the way around the corner and down towards the back of the Pru by the Christian Science Center for our last "stop" with the Kickass Cupcakes truck. They weren't there. I have no idea why our guide didn't think to call them to confirm their location before we started walking over there, but when we got there, she called, and they were at the corner of Clarendon and Newbury, where we had just been. She then offered to go back if we wanted to...we all declined. Tour had been billed as about 3 hours long. If it had started on time at 1:30, that would have put us around 4:30. Because of the address and parking issue, we really started at around 1:50ish, and we were done before 4pm. I can only attribute this to the fact that we didn't spend hardly any time in any of the bakeries before being shuttled off to our next destination, and then completely missing the last cupcake stop. I felt bad for my friends, because this was something special they planned for my bachelorette and paid extra for to have a private tour, and it was a total joke.

I wish they had a more seamless system for handling this (in an app or taking phone numbers instead).
