    Cockroach

I was having a nice early dinner. I come here twice a year on parent/teacher conference night. I love Indian food and theirs is really good. Unfortunately, at the end of my meal, I have no clue where this roach came from but this damn roach was running around my table. I'm so grossed out. I hope you all see this and speak to an exterminator ASAP.

Great Pakistani/Indian buffet with this kind of weather. Excellent choices. Mehran: 3841 Railroad Ave, Pittsburg. Phone: 510.404.3011. Buffet from 11am-3pm. Price: weekend $21.99; weekday $19.99. Weekends have special items. Sam is the best!!! He has excellent customer service. Ambiance is super clean and nicely decorated.

    Chicken Biryani

For 23$ for Iftar I got(btw this is buffet pricing for iftar): 5 plates of Biryani with 3 pcs of Malai boti on top So much fried fish Fries in the side Rita and an insane amount of Shahi Tukre with chai And all of it slapped. Also when we came it was full but luckily seats opened up and the employees were really kind about it too. However, THE WOMAN WHO WORKS ON THE PHONE NEEDS TO BE FIRED. SHE OPENLY LIES ABOUT WHEN IFTAR BUFFET IS AND WHEN IT IS. LIES ABOUT OPENING AND CLOSING TIMES, AVALIBILITY, EVERYTHING.

OMG, 1st off, the palak lamb, goat biryani, & garlic naan are my favorite! 2nd off, the food is always fresh, flavorful, & amazing. Thirdly, I have lived near here 17 yr & have NEVER had a bad experience with food or service from these beautiful people. Fourthly, their portions are generous, they will gladly help you order by describing each meal, they are patient as ever, and more kind than you could EVER imagine. Once, I brought my selective eater preteen & they offered to remake her food if she was unhappy. And tonight, I brought a friend who fears spicy food & they made the same offer. I cannot say enough positive about Mehran. I am grateful they have sustained their business through recessions, the 2021 pandemic, & our current day instability. The ambieance is one of peace. They are precious. The food was so good, I took pics after we dove in, lol. (Yelp, please make it easier to load photos already taken so a review can be done in 30 seconds, not 20 min.)

There are so many great things I could say about the venue. I personally have been to so many events at this venue that it was extremely special to me to finally host my own event here at Mehran. Nathan (the owner) and his team were amazing from communicating to setting up tables. Prior to the event, Nathan was extremely patient was with us on picking out which food we'd like, how many tables we needed, and even reminded us on what time everything should be served. He created a time frame and a well organized/easy to read document that listed the menu and pricing for every thing. My family and I are were very happy on comfortable the whole experience was. The service let's just say was OUTSTANDING. The staff was smiling and very quick with bringing out the appetizers, food, and dessert. The renovation of the venue is also stunning, making the whole room look extremely elegant and classy even without decor. You must visit in person. The food was 10/10. Everything was cooked to perfection, soooooo tasty. My compliments to the kitchen staff. Even coming here during their buffet time (public eating time), the food is delicious. This place is the perfect place to host your events. My henna night came out beautiful. Everybody complimented the decor and the venue. It's located for us in the perfect area with lots of parking and a park 4 min away in case people wanted to take outdoor photos prior to their events. I'm genuinely and truly happy with how everything turned out. If I had the professional pictures from the photographer during my event already, I would post more of the food and all, sadly I don't have them just yet. But I do hope this helps anyone who is looking into this venue . You will be taken great care of. Very stress free friendly lol thank you again Mehran :)

We ate at Mehran Indian Pakistani Restaurant and had an amazing experience. The food was outstanding--the samosas alone will keep me coming back! Sam was our waiter and provided excellent service--friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Highly recommend this spot for authentic, flavorful cuisine and top-notch hospitali

Do they still have their lunch buffet?

Even the Russian ones I had in Portland were super interesting and flavorful. And don't get me wrong. The Paneer Tikka Masala and Lamb Korma were tasty enough. But the Momo's really sealed the deal this time. We ordered from this place from DoorDash a couple weeks ago and I almost wish we didn't order Naan. It just felt like it kinda got in the way. Why dip a Naan in Masala when you can dip a Momo in it? Whatever combination of vegetables were in these delectable dumplings were divine. I feel like I tasted like a combo of potatoes with carrots and lots of fun herbs. Maybe Ginger? But then just dip if in your favorite saucey entree of choice and it just completes the meal. It definitely makes me want to eat more Nepalese food. I highly recommend this to anyone remotely curious about trying the Momos.

But the wrap isn't the sturdiest because they are generous with the portions. So I opted to have it over rice to lessen the chance of getting my white shirt stained (I can be a messy eater). The chicken is incredibly tender! A piece of chicken I tried to pick up kept falling apart. I eventually found a piece that can handle the fork. The sauce was super flavorful from the tomato base, and had a lot of depth from the spices. I added a samosa because I never pass a samosa. It lost its crunch from the day, but it still was tasty. The wrap had a good bite and the potato filling was soft. I think it had enough earthy flavors that it didn't need any sauce. Service is really friendly. And because they're part of Heart of the City Farmers Market, the seating area can be a little chaotic as long lines wrap around it. But there's plenty of seating, though not enough umbrellas for those rare sunny days. It's one of the better food options at farmers market. The quality has been consistent through the years I've ordered food from here.

Brought it back to my office to eat and it has to be one of the most disappointing meals I've had recently. The garlic naan did not taste like garlic, the curry was bland and watery. The person who was preparing my food asked if I wanted it spicy to which I confirmed. The spicy level was mild at best. The lamb was pretty tender which was the only good thing about this. Not sure because it was around 1pm when we ordered and it was Thanksgiving week, that the food quality wasn't up to par. Would not recommend if you're looking for rich, flavorful curry.

I have my usual go-to for Indian food in the area, but my wife and I were excited to try Sargam for…read moredinner because we had been given a gift certificate. We'd been there once, years ago, and couldn't really remember it much. We walked in and waited a solid 5 minutes (or more) for someone to come to the front acknowledge us, and there were others waiting as well. We assumed that they must be very busy, but they only had a few tables of customers. The atmosphere wasn't nice, but it was ok. We didn't expect fine dining vibes. There were no table cloths, and a mint green paint job which matched the color of the napkins. We ordered the "vegetarian feast" and also the butter chicken; we wanted to sample different items and probably bring home leftovers. The first thing that came out was the chai tea, which was fine. After a little wait, the samosas arrived. The samosas were delicious, and we agreed that they were the best we'd ever had. The two sauces they served with the samosas were also very tasty. Unfortunately, that was the last great thing about our experience at Sargam. The wait for the rest of the food was quite long. We weren't in a hurry, but it was definitely longer than should be acceptable at a restaurant. (All in all we were there for about 90 minutes). When the food finally came out, one of the items was missing from the vegetarian feast (the "two naris"). We didn't notice until later that we never got this item. The food's taste was average. Perhaps below average for the Indian food in the Bay Area. The chicken was not very tender but it wasn't terrible. We ordered the food "medium spicy" but there was zero spice. Also, the temperature wasn't as hot as it should be. Most of the items were almost luke warm. The nan wasn't anything special. It wasn't as tasty (or warm) as it is at most places we've been to. At the end, we were supposed to get two desserts, according to the menu's description (photo attached) of the vegetarian feast. They never came. We wrapped up our leftovers and I asked the woman (who seemed to be the manager), who had taken our order and also brought us our check, if we were going to get the desserts. She gave me a horrible look. She looked as if I had said something terrible, and acted like she had no idea what we were talking about. I explained that the dessert was on the menu as part of the "vegetarian feast". We waited about five more minutes and no dessert came out. I decided to pay and leave; we were full anyway. Sargam has "acceptable" food and ambience, long waits, and bad service with missing items. Also, they added a "service fee" of 3.5% to the check (which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu). Weird. I wanted to like it. We won't be back.

The buffet doesn't change much, but I tell you, we were there this afternoon, and I can't imagine a better combination of tastes than what I had: 3 each of the small fish pakoras and the fried chickpea flour ones; a portion of tasty white rice; a delicious cup of yellow dal; and a goodly portion of goat curry. All of this along with the yummy Naan that was brought to out table. Sargam is a tried and true venue for us (We go back a couple of decades and have dined there with so many friends over the years I probably can't even remember them all. If you're anywhere near Walnut Creek, give it a try! (Have a look at the many photos of the food. I only have one to share today of the establishment at night. We also often take home a Mixed Tandoori Grill platter, which combines many tasty kinds of meat, and goes a long way!)
