Dinner last night at Mehfil was lovely. We had so often walked past on our way to other restaurants , but at last we went in .. Great food, good service and the prices not outrageous. As with most Indian restaurants the servings are not large, but for four of us, the four dishes breads & rice we ordered were more than enough. I just love Garlic naan , Keema naan and Cheese Chilli Garlic naan, mouth watering. Each main on the menu has a chilli next to it and as you can guess this indicates the rate of hotness one chilli..mild.. two chillies.. medium and so on.. for the unsuspecting .. beware the four chillies we ordered a Prawn Vindaloo with four chillies which we have always ordered at other Indian restaurants and well I do consider my chilli tolerance quite high but tears were brought to my eyes ..wow.. lovey flavour but way tooo hot.. Aloo Gosht (3 chillies) lamb, potatoes, black pepper, spices and green herbs, Butter Chicken (1 chilli) always a favourite, Makhan Chicken cooked in the tandoor first then finished with semi-dry makhan sauce, and Beef Madras (3 chillies) hot beef curry with coconut milk, capsicum and curry leaves. were lovely. I just love Mango Kulfi but will save it for our next visit..
We have now visited three times and I can report my chilli tolerance has gone way up or maybe the first night we visited well maybe the chef was a little heavy handed adding the chilli , anyway this resturant has become one of our favourites. read more
