Butter Chicken, Aloo Gobi, Garlic Naan
    Bryan A.

Probably the most delicious Indian food in Sydney, Australia. Butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, Aloo Gobi, garlic naan simply outstanding, great quick service, food is all handmade, and incredibly tasty. The restaurant is small and quaint, well appointed with an atmosphere of Indian culture. Make sure you make reservations, lunch was wide open. Dinner gets tight.

Always delicious and wonder service! We order the butter chicken/ cauliflower/ garlic naan and veggies samosas! Perfect amount for 2 with a little bit to take away afterwards. Reservations recommended on weekends.

Dinner! Rice, lentils, and chicken, oh my!

I made a reservation here because it was near my hotel and Indian food tends to have a lot of vegetarian options (my coworker on this trip is vegetarian). We were seated in the tiny place as soon as we arrived and we ordered. The good was served quickly and was amazing. Everything was hot, fresh and flavorful. This was the best Indian food I had on the trip. Get the naan... you're welcome :) I definitely recommend making a reservation since there are not many tables, but especially if you have more than a couple of people in your group.

So had wrapped up a trip over to Manly beach and was looking for something to eat around Circular Quay so that we could grab lunch and get some rest. It had been a lot of non Asian food for the last few days so decided to give this indian joint a try since a bowl of curry sounded like it would hit the spot. This joint is located near the bus stops that would take you over to Bondi and when you climb a set of stairs you will be immediately welcomed by the smell of indian food. The décor is also quite unique and they did a great job of making you feel you are transported to another world. The restaurant also had mostly pan Asians in the room so it seems to be a hit in Syndey. After sitting down, decided to get the butter chicken curry and then a tandoori chicken starting plate along with garlic naan. The tandoori chicken was quite delicious and it was seasoned well. It was quite juicy and tender as well so cooked very well. I was quite content with the presentation and the naan was hot and delicious on top. The curry was also well made and the garlic naan was the perfect to match by mixing in the flavor of garlic well, being chewy and crispy at the same time. The curry was very savory and offered that deep comfort feeling making it hit the spot. This is a good joint without a doubt... maybe a little pricey but definitely on par with some of my "go to"s in the US.

Simply delicious and a must if you are in Sydney, AU. The ambiance is so intimate yet crowded-- and it works. we had the Samosa Chaat, Butter Chicken, Punjabi Spiced Chickpea Curry, and garlic naan. Also a delicious bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from NZ Indian is our favorite cuisine and this is one of the finest. You need to make a reservation because this place is small and popular and did I say delicious?

We visited the Spice Room back in April. Very lively and busy restaurant that is conveniently located at the tip of Circular Quay. The staffs were very friendly and the service was great. We ordered Railway Canteen Goat Curry, Chennai Express Beef Curry, Hot Malabar Fish Curry and Yellow Dhal (w/o Spinach). The food was good, but overpriced (I mean, they even charged us for plain white rice!?! Where I'm from in the USA, that's free). But the best part was their interior decos (especially the restroom)...absolutely LOVED it!! I have never seen a restroom filled with s-o many old pics (which I completely adored and enjoyed watching) :)

Not a bad price for a great meal

I'm going with a 4 Plus.... star review because today there was absolutely nothing wrong with my meal. In fact it was one of the best Indian meals I've had. That includes many Indian restaurants in the US as well as my favorites in London UK. I had the Chicken Chettinaad which I had not ever had before. Also, some garlic naan and saag. I wanted the heat level high and asked for the chicken dish very spicy. The food was so good, so favorable and the spice level very high but in a super tasty way. I really liked it. The Naan was just plain good, no other description. Quantity was fine all around. At last, finishing my meal, the Chai latte was the absolute best I've ever had. Made the meal superb. This restaurant is right near the Circular Quay and the Opera house. If you are in the area give it a try. They are friendly and serve a great meal. No downside here.

Pre theatre menu (with a bit of glare)

Came here for the second time as a result of having been impressed by the pre-theatre menu several months ago. Unfortunately, this visit was somewhat less successful, as they initially offered us the full menu (which we ordered from) and then had to offer us the theatre menu after the fact. Given that I specified what we were there for in my reservation, I was a little unimpressed. Food took a while to arrive--to the point where we were nervously checking our watches--and we ended up paying for drinks we didn't receive, given that the ones we had ordered were not on the pre-fix list and there wasn't time to have a second round. Additionally, we didn't have time for dessert, either, but given that we needed to head out, that was okay. The food itself is delicious, but I'm wondering if this place coasts on its reputation a bit too much. If you're willing to take your chances, the pre-fix menu is still good value for money, but there's not necessarily a guarantee that you'll actually get to eat it all. Next time we will scope out the options at Customs House instead.

Came here to try their food. But was just told no with no explanation. Poor customer service can't even say anything about the food.

Upscale Indian dining at an overpriced cost and questionable ingredient pairing. The best thing we…read moreate was the basmati rice so it's saying a lot. We constantly were just trying to get through each dish ordered, hoping it'd improve but the taste, quality, and texture - something was always off. The meat also smelled funny. Besan Fritters were rubber in texture with balsamic type cream sauce. Pork Curry spice was extreme and the water could not come fast enough. This had dish the most weird meat smell. The Beef Dosa tasted more like a sunscreen quesadilla. Poorly described but that was the meal in a nutshell for us. Great aesthetic and staff was semi attentive - although a reservation, there was no one at the host stand for 5min+ nor no one seated in the front section of the restaurant so awkwardly stood until the bartender finally gave in to ask if we needed help. Overall, wouldn't recommend. Especially in group settings where food would be shared since the menu incorporates a lot of different flavors/textures into one dish - not all would be inclined.

The dining room itself is so beautiful with the seating areas consisting of tables, booths and carved areas in the sandstone for larger groups. A great example of Sydney heritage. The table service was superb with out being pretentious. Very friendly and accommodating. I felt at home. The food... stunning!! Flavours, presentation and delivery 10/10. Can't say enough good things. And Can't wait to bring guests here. Their prices made a Fantastic night out very affordable. Thanks everyone here. You Rock!!
