We stopped for a quick lunch and were the only ones at the restaurant, which was very nice since the attention was all for our :) The place nice and spacious! Food was very tasty. If you are craving Indian cuisine you should definitely stop by for a treat :) Remember:) Cheers:)

I stumbled across Maya Da Dhaba through a recommendation from a friend saying it's the best Indian in Sydney. I want to punch them in the face for not telling me about this place earlier...think of all that wasted time! We rocked up around 830pm on a Friday night and there was already a massive queue...this place must be good. We were told the wait wouldn't be long and they were right, we were seated within 15 minutes. This place is lively, the service quick and friendly, and the food is just rich buttery goodness...plus BYO. We decided to pig out and ordered samosas, 6 kinds of curries, and a mixed bread basket. The staff was great with their recommendations and even prevented us from ordering one dish because it was too similar to another one. Everything was spot on....we actually ordered too much. Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Beef Vindaloo, Lamb Korma, Chicken Rogan Josh, and a mushroom one I don't recall. We ordered too much...but all that was roughly $40pp for 4. This place makes you want to forego your utensils to slop up all that delicious curry with your naan/roti. I know I did...and Maya Da Dhaba may ruin other casual Indian places for you.

I was headed to a little spice shop right next to this restaurant so when I walked by and saw it was all veggie I geeked out! First, the lady was very patient with me and recommended some of their most popular lunch dishes. I was going to make a curry later that night and didn't want to spoil that craving so I settled on their plain dosa. And holy crap was it large! I had a coconut curry, daal and raita dipping sauce. It was chocker block full of rice and potatoes. Yum!!!! I would say maybe a little on the salty side, but I finished it all will be back again

This place has become my new favourite Indian restaurant. I'm writing this review after visiting Maya Da Dhaba many times. I'm reluctant to go to restaurants that have long queues outside mainly because I hate waiting, but on a positive side it must mean that the cuisine inside is fabulously delicious. My advise is always make a booking for this place as it is very popular, especially at the weekends. I like this restaurant because of its consistent high standard of food, its taste and the friendly wait staff that will always make your dining experience a pleasure. While this place isn't at the top of the 'high end' Indian restaurants in Sydney, it certainly makes up for it by the quality and quantity of the food portions and most importantly the price. no wonder it can pride itself on being awarded the DIMMI People's Choice Award for 2016! The menu is full of vegetarian and non vegetarian choices. I have been slowly making my way through the menu and for this review I will list my favourite dishes/ menu items. On arrival you are offered water and a complimentary serve of Pappadums and yogurt mint sauce and another darker sauce that is tasty. A drink from the well stocked bar is also available however we brought our own bottles of wine. Corkage is $2.50 per person. For entree you cannot beat the Maya Da Dhaba Entree Platter for two ($22.90) consisting of Adraki Lamb Chops, Chicken Malai Tikka, Fish Tikka and Vegetable Samosa. If you need to make it for more people, this can be easily arranged through the wait staff. The Adraki Lamb Chops are my favourite,as they are marinated overnight with Kashmiri spices, garlic and ginger-skewered and then grilled in tandoor oven. Another favourite is the very tender Chicken Malai Tikka fillets marinated with cardamom, mace, cream, cheese, white pepper, garlic, black salt and then char-grilled in the tandoor. There are two main dishes that I can highly recommend from the specialities menu. They are: * Kadai Chicken which is cooked with capsicum, onions and tomatoes and finished with fresh coriander. ($16.90) * Chicken Jalfrezi - succulent chicken pieces cooked with tomatoes, onion and mixed vegetables and finished with lemon juice. A mild fragrant dish not to be missed! ($16.90) * Chicken Chettinad - boneless chicken fillets cooked in south Indian style with a touch of coconut cream, mustard seeds and curry leaves. ($16.90) Also everyone's favourite Butter Chicken is very popular choice. The chicken is cooked in a rich creamy, tomato based sauce with fragrant spices and finished with a drizzle of cream. ($16.90) Meat dishes - I love the Lamb Saagwala - the most tender lamb pieces cooked with fresh English spinach, fenugreek, onion and garlic. ($17.90) The restaurant offers a variety of Biryani Rice choices. I often go for the Kashmiri Pulao ($8.90) or the plain Pulao ($2.90) Add some tasty Naan breads or Roti to your meal and you have an Indian banquet that will have you satisfied and talking about its goodness until you visit again. I was treated by Navjit (the restaurant manager) to a taste of the Gulab Jamun. It was freshly made and so irresistibly sweet! This syrupy dessert is a must have if you have room for more! Thank you Navjit, Saini and Gary for looking after us every time we dine at your restaurant. See you again very soon!

Baby baby baby, this was amazing. Hungry after a wonderful day exploring Sydney we ended again in surry hill and found this Indian jewel. Absolutely one of the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Only the Chardonnay wasn't my taste. Waiter was extremely friendly and open. Chicken Tikka Masala and Kadai chicken were just yummy yummy yummy... we ordered one portion of rice for both of us. It was way to much. The naan was good. And we both were entirely full and satisfied...

This place is packed! Lucky last table!

Maya Da Dhaba Assuming it has something to do with food, I asked the waiter what does the name Maya Da Dhaba mean (I also notice that the Indian restaurant across the road's name also starts with the word Maya). He tells me "Maya" is a popular name in India for beautiful women but didn't give me any further insight into the name. Anyways, this restaurant named after beautiful women or perhaps a beautiful woman is located in Surry Hills and is a popular Indian restaurant. So popular we got the lucky last table. My fellow Yelpers had suggested I give this restaurant a try with big statements like "it's the best Indian food in Sydney". For me, it wasn't the best Indian food in Sydney. However, the food was delicious and did come out of the kitchen super fast. The menu is generous and well priced. A big plus for us was seeing Channa on the menu which is a Northern Indian dish made from chickpeas which we ordered and was tasty. The place was packed and it is BYO.. It just didn't WOW me enough for a perfect score. Solid four stars.

Maya Da Dhaba is Maya Da Delicious. I had very fond memories of this restaurant on Cleveland St, chancing a night at this unfamiliar restaurant with friends over a year ago. The food was tasty, with an extensive vegetarian menu, the service was friendly and attentive and the ambience was warmly electric. So my second trip to Maya Da Dhaba was up against some pretty stiff competition. Fortunately, my new favourite Indian haunt lived up to the expectations. The service was once again friendly and efficient (a much quieter night this time 'round) and the food was just as tasty. We had the vegetable samosas, the vegetarian kofta balls and paneer tikka masala with garlic naan and raita, with complimentary mint sauce and pappadums. What's more, you get pretty darn good value for money here, with two of us well fed for under $50 (with sufficient left overs).

The best Indian food I've ever had, combined with the best service I've ever had. An amazing night and very reasonably priced! Would comeback in a heartbeat!!!!!!!

A family run business having once called Nelsons Bay home, now thankfully running a new operation in Sydney. Bombay Street Kitchen has alfresco dining as well as indoor seating. There is a projector screen on the roof of the outdoor area playing retro Bollywood classics. The menu is wide and varied and as the name would suggest, brings exciting Indian street food options that you may not have known to exist. To help familiarise you with these exciting new treats, the menu listing are accompanied by a short story detailing the origins of each dish. So much choice and exciting new food to try we were momentarily a deer in the headlights. We decide to order a drink whilst we perused the menu. With plenty of choice, soft drinks a beer selection including Indian variety, as well as a few cocktails that took our fancy. Like the tamarind martini or the rum spiked Lassi's called the Sassy Lassi. We decided on the Sassy Lassi's. We got the mango as well as the rose and cardamon which are a must if visiting this place. The inspiration coming from the magnitude of street food available in Bombay. An great place to stary is with the Pani Poori; a crisp little pastry pocket stuffed with, potato, puffed rice and chutney, add the spicy tamarind sauce to taste. A mouth full of texture and a flavour explosion! The bright almost fluro red koliwada prawn fried in spiced butter, served with a lemon yogurt are sure to light up the table. Another favourite of Bombay workers being the Pav Bhajji, a vegan like sloppy joe; a buttered bread roll seved with spiced mashed veggies, served with a side of fresh spanish onion, corriander and a lemon wedge for added freshness. The pefectly spiced lamb cutlets cooked at high heat in the tandoor sure to have your mouth watering. We also ordered a chickpea and mango summer salad for some added freshness an option from lunch menu. They have a bombay lunch box for under $10, great for a cheap eat. Also cooked fresh in the tandoor are the naan and roti which we ordered to accompany some classic curries. The railway goat curry cooked on the bone, a full flavoured curry that will have you licking your lips in delight. Another go to, the paneer palak, was on point. Add a serve of flavoured rice on the side to soak up and savour the curry sauce. Make sure you leave some space for dessert and you are in for a treat. The mango kulfi, a weiss bar like dessert cooled us down after a night of spice. The Gulab Jamun a classic, not overly sweet in this instance, the dessert served warm making the dumplings nice and soft and served with cardamon and a creamy coconut ice cream. A very enjoyable and exciting Indian dining experience.
