Meg tuned a 1960's ish piano. It had been 20+ years since it had been tuned. She got it tuned and it sounds so much better now. We got a mini-concert from her as she was testing it. I am so impressed with this piano moving service! They really know what they are doing and are very methodical about the entire process of the move. The legs were very difficult to remove and piano lid pins were missing. Dusty even helped me to find the right size pins I needed for my Young Chang baby grand. What I thought was going to be a stressful and long process was so easy and actually enjoyable with Meg & Dusty! The move itself was super quick, and they clearly have a process down. They were super friendly and very professional and it was really interesting and great hearing their very clear communication style with each other. Meg and her husband Dusty are a one-stop shop for refurbished pianos, piano moving, tuning and repair. I found them after I'd already bought a piano, so I didn't get to take advantage of their skills in renovating instruments, but I can sure vouch for the moving, tuning and repair part. Friendly, fast, efficient, knowledgeable, pleasant, informative and considerate are just some of the adjectives that describe these folks. I called Meg's number this morning about 11, she and her husband met me at the location where the piano needed to be picked up at 2, and they had it moved, tuned and repaired (one key had a busted spring) in about an hour. They were very careful with the piano and considerate of my floor, and they made sure it was all set up the way I wanted it before they left. An added bonus is to get to hear Meg play for a couple of minutes, making sure the instrument is in good order. When I told Meg I was gonna have to move some furniture to make room for the piano, she offered to come by and help. I didn't take her up on it, but that's just how friendly she is. The prices are reasonable and Meg's Piano is plain about the charges - there's nothing hidden, and no fast talk or hard sell. These are just good, honest folks who take pride in their work. After a couple of moves our piano was sounding terrible! To the point that my wife could not play through one song without stopping and then telling me how bad it needed to be tuned. So I turned to Yelp and set an appointment with Meg of Meg's Piano for today and could not be happier that I did! My wife has now been playing since Meg left - and that was over an hour ago!! Meg moved a 115 year old piano that I sold to a new family some months ago. The piano was an upright grand piano made from Oak wood. It weighed in about 1000 pounds and it had lots of surface detailings in the finish on it. It was located in a walkout basement. Meg and her husband moved that piano out of my west Austin house, down the hill some, around the house, and then up the hill without a scratch. They work well together as a pair and while it may not seem like when you first meet them, they really do know what they are doing and will care for your piano.
